ISABELLE’S POV
I tilted my head, trying to hide my amusement, as Kael's face flushed crimson. “Why are you so concerned about me? Don’t tell me you’ve grown attached.” I asked.
Kael straightened, his voice stiff and formal. “I’m just worried about your safety, Princess. If anything dangerous were to happen to you, I know my entire family would bear the consequences.”
The corner of my mouth twitched with annoyance, the smile dropping from my face. This was always all about duty, nothing more. “You’re such a stubborn fool,” I snapped back, spinning on my heel and walking back to the car, my chest heaving with anger.
Kael scrambled after me, his footsteps heavy on the concrete sidewalk as he trailed me back to the car, slipping into the passenger seat with guilt clouding his features. “I'm sorry if I annoyed you, Princess, I apologise for my manners.” He said in a hushed whisper.
But I wasn’t going to let him off so easily. I turned to face him, my eyes narrowed into slits “You’re not just worried, Kael. Admit it—you’re actually moved.”
His face deepened to a furious shade of red, and for a split second, his lips parted as if he wanted to say something more, but he snapped his mouth shut, looking away from me.
I huffed, sinking into the seat's silence, closing in on us.
“Did you at least find any evidence at the club?” I cut in, refusing to look at him
From the corner of my eyes, I saw him nod, his expression instantly growing serious. “Yes I got some evidence inside, but it’s very urgent. I need to report it to the Alpha immediately.”
I raised an eyebrow, my face twisting into a deep frown. “And are you not going to tell me about this evidence you found?”
Kael shook his head, his tone firm and sharp. “It’s not that I don’t want to, Princess. The matter is classified. It’s too dangerous, and it would be best if you stayed out of it.”
I clenched her jaw, gritting my teeth as rage bubbled inside me. I understood what he was saying all too well. I was still the “useless” princess—the one everyone had to shield from serious matters especially those relating to life and death. The label stung, but I pushed the feeling aside, I knew my place.
I swallowed hard, forcing myself to focus. “Fine,” I bit out coolly, with a dismissive wave of my hand. “Go to the palace, then. I’ll handle things on my own here.”
Kael hesitated, his gaze lingering on me longer than usual, but when I turned and shot him a sharp look, he finally relented and stepped out of the car, slamming the door shut behind him.
“Back to the villa,” I ordered the driver. As the car started moving, I gazed out the window at Kael's retreating figure, unreadable emotions swirling through me.
The car pulled up in the driveway of the villa and I stepped out, settling out a small sigh of relief to finally be back home.
I merely nodded at the maids that greeted me as I passed, stalking towards my room. Once the door was closed behind me, I took a deep breath, immediately peeling my clothes off my body.
They lay in a heap on the floor as I walked into the shower, wrapping a white towel around my chest.
I turned the tub knob and hot water gushed out. I sat by the edge of the tub, watching silently as it filled up.
When it was full, I dipped my hand in to test the water's temperature and nodded in approval.
I slowly rose, pushing the towel off my body and onto the ground. I stepped into the tub and sank into the water.
I hissed in satisfaction as the hot water cascaded over my tired body as I leaned against the edge of the tub, the last few days replaying in my mind.
After a long while, I rose from the water, parting my feet as I shrugged on a robe and collapsed into my bed.
Immediately I felt the soft sheets against my warm skin, exhaustion overtook me and my eyes fluttered shut pulling me into a dreamless sleep.
For the next three days, I heard nothing from Kael nor did I see him.
His absence loomed like a dark cloud and affected me more than I cared to admit.
I tried to shake off the unease, forcing myself to stop overthinking but I just couldn't stop the thoughts flooding my mind.
Yet, my wolf’s soothing voice kept echoing in my mind, not to worry about him.
The days dragged on slowly. I tried to busy myself with different tasks, but my mind kept wandering back to Kael.
And even the countdown on my head kept ticking as time flew by each second. I knew I should focus on my mission, but the silence from Kael was unnerving.
‘Don’t worry, Kael will take care of it.’ I wolf whispered in my mind to ease my worries.
But by the third day, my patience was already wearing thin. I was a mess of nerves, biting my lip as I stood at the window of my room gazing down as doubt started to creep into my mind.
A knock echoing in the room startled me and I flinched. I turned around, staring at the door as one of the maids appeared, a hesitant smile on her face.
“Your Highness,” the maid began, “ I wanted to inform you that General Kael’s brother has been released from prison.”
I froze mid-step, my heart skipping a beat. A wave of relief washed over me, and then a surge of excitement I couldn't contain.
“He’s free?” I asked, my voice more high-pitched than I intended.
The maid nodded. “Yes, my lady. The boy was released this morning.”
Unable to hide my joy, I clasped my hands together, letting out a loud laughter.
I caught the maid staring at me curiously, her brow raised. “Do you care about General Kael that much?” she asked, with genuine curiosity.
My laughter died and the excitement I felt dimmed slightly as the question sank in.
Did I really care?
“I…” I began ready to deny it, but the words refused to come out.
The maid didn't proceed any further, leaving the room without another word.
I sank onto my bed, staring out the window.
‘Did I really care?’ I wondered. The truth was bitter but I knew that I did.
ISABELLE’S POVI walked straight to the palace, striding through the palace halls with a stern expression, my footsteps echoing on the polished marble floors. I ignored the glances the guards gave me as I made my way to the palace throne room. When I walked my brother was lounging on his throne, his sharp blue eyes lighting up when his eyes met mine.“Ah, little sister,” Tristan greeted, his tone laced with playful sarcasm. “I heard how you have been so busy lately.”I crossed my arms, narrowing my eyes at him, clearly unimpressed. “And what do you mean by that?” I asked. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the arm rest. “ I'm just very pleased to see you finally putting your talents to use. Perhaps I should even reward you for your great efforts.”“I don’t need anything,” I retorted quickly, with a dismissive wave.Tristan smirked, clearly enjoying himself at my expense. “No? You would not even accept recognition for saving a homeless painter at a coffee shop?”I froze, my expr
TRISTAN’S POVI leaned back in my chair, staring at the map of the Pack’s territories spread across the desk before me.Everything I planned came together perfectly just like I wanted. I knew all along that Kael’s younger brother was wrongfully accused, he never committed any of the crimes he was charged with.I had known the truth about the case from the beginning but I had leaned back and allowed the situation to play out so I could determine how loyal General Kael was.It wasn’t just a test of Kael’s investigative skills—it was the ultimate test of his family's loyalty to the pack and my reign.A shadow of doubt had always rested on Kael’s family because of their dark history. Years ago, they had been implicated in a betrayal concerning the former ruling pack and since then their family has been under scrutiny.Kael had passed the test and I was relieved to find that his loyalty lies with the pack, with this investigation he proved his determination and devotion to the Night Fall.
ISABELLE’S POVI rose up from the sofa with narrowed eyes, slowly stalking towards him, my expression hardening.I crossed my arms over my chest, our eyes locked in a heated gaze. “I saved your brother just as I promised I would. And now it’s time for you to honor your end of the deal we made.”Kael didn’t immediately respond, falling silent. He broke away from my gaze, his eyes flickering around the room, anywhere but at me.His usual calm composure was cracking, and I finally started to see the man underneath. I tilted my head, studying him carefully. I wasn't going to give up until he agreed to honor his end of the deal. He made a promise to me and he has to keep it.“Kael?” I pressed my voice firm as I took a step closer towards him. “So do you really plan to break your word? We both know you’re not that kind of man, or am I mistaken, General?”His younger brother, standing nearby was watching us intently, his eyes filled with confusion. He looked at me with wide eyes. “What deal
ISABELLE’S POVThe air was crisp and cold as I stepped out of Kael’s residence, the confidence I walked in with already cracking ever so slightly. I had laid all my cards on the table, pressed him for a response and did everything I could to make him give in but Kael remained silent and that haunted me. Would he agree to my bold request? My wolf remained calm, hardly bordered by the situation.‘Just wait,’ she murmured. ‘He’ll come back to you.’I took a deep breath as I slid into the car, wrangling my fingers in my lap with nervousness. I was trying to believe her and wait but it was harder than it seemed.I returned to the villa in a dark mood, storming through the halls, ignoring greetings till I got into my room and slammed the door hard behind me.I Ieaned unto the back of the door, anxiety building up within me. I gave myself a second before I swallowed hard, pressing my cold hands to my face.‘Just wait.’ My wolf echoed in my mind, her voice calming me down a little. I leaned
ISABELLE’S POVThe silence in the room was charged with electricity, and thick with tension. Kael stood at the center, his head bowed slightly, his gaze avoiding mine.Every single muscle in his body was taut and rock-hard. He finally looked up at me, his dark eyes smouldering, a dark storm brewing behind them. I watched him with a predatory smile, savouring the power coursing through me at this moment.“Kael,” I whispered, my tone soft yet filled with command. “You’re not going to keep me waiting, are you, are you going to honour your promise?”He looked down at my words, lowering his head, I held back a chuckle at his sudden shyness. This strong soldier, the general of the army that led wars and invasions, suddenly became shy in my presence. For a moment, I imagined he would reject me and bolt, but instead, he clenched his jaw and held his ground. I arched my brow at his reaction, my dark smirk deepening.Unable to hold back any further, I leaned in, close enough for my lips to g
ISABELLE’S POVThe room was buzzing with tension, thick enough to cut through with a blade. My hands rested on Kael, my heart was pounding uncontrollably in my chest.Red hot passion burned under my skin, urging me to lean into Kael's arms but I willed myself to hold back. His dark molten gaze bore into mine, a slight frown marrying his features. We hadn’t moved an inch since he leaned in and I turned away.My wolf was restless, practically growling in my mind with confusion. ‘Why are you hesitating? Look at him. He’s ready, you should take this opportunity and claim him.’But I remained frozen, my mind firm. I barely managed to restrain myself from giving in to the burning desire to let Kael kiss me but a single thought lingered at the back of my mind.I just couldn’t let this moment end up as something fleeting and impulsive. My plans and relationship with Kael need more than just passion at the moment. I needed him to be utterly devoted to me completely, beyond lust or affection.A
ISABELLE’S POVKael’s sudden dominance stunned me. His hands wrapped tightly around my body as he scooped me off the ground and into his arms. His palm cradled my face with a protective look that sent shivers down my spine, and when he leaned down and whispered into my ears, I instantly shuddered with need.He held my head like a beast and leaned down, his lips capturing mine. My heart surged as his lips plunged into mine, hot and needy. The world around us ceased to exist when he plunged, my lips parting for him. His kiss wasn’t just heated—it was consuming, like a fire raging with passion burning through my skin.My wolf purred, growling in approval. This kiss was different from any other I had experienced before. Kael’s sudden intensity started something within me, a fire I couldn’t put out even if I wanted to. My arms instinctively reached around him, threading my fingers through his dark short hair and pulling him even closer. When the kiss finally broke, our foreheads pressed t
ISABELLE’S POVI stood in stunned silence, the weight of Kael’s confession slowly sinking in. He suddenly declared wanting to propose and I was caught off guard. I never anticipated his feelings for me to run so deep, nor had I expected such displays of affection from the stoic general. My wolf sighed deeply. ‘He’s sincere, Isabelle.’ She whispered to me.I closed my eyes for a second, her fingers wrangled together as anxiety clawed at me. I was still very unsure of what I could say to him now.Kael just asked me to wait, to let him prove himself on the battlefield before making our bond official. How could I explain to him that I couldn't marry anyone in my condition? How could I tell Kael that I have been cursed by the moon goddess to have multiple mates?I watched him, his expression strained as he waited for my response, but I knew I couldn't tell him the absolute truth. Finally, all I could manage was a quiet sigh. “Let’s wait and see,” I whispered, avoiding his eyes.My wolf g
ISABELLE’S POVMy breath caught in my throat, but I quickly masked my reaction. “I am doing nothing of the sort, Rowan. I’m simply acting with what I see and observe. Perhaps you should do the same.”His eyes darkened, and his expression tightened. “Do you actually believe that I have any intentions towards her?” He growled, his frustration evident in his clenched jaw.Swallowing my unease for his closeness, I squared my shoulders. “Yes, Rowan. I do. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’d like some time alone without you following me around.”My heart was pounding from the tension between us, heavy and charged, but I refused to look down and walk away. His words hung in the air, heavy and dark. I stared at him, my mind racing. Why had he been waiting for me? What did he mean by what he was saying?Gathering my composure, my gaze flickered over him cautiously, “Tell me exactly why you were waiting for me?”His piercing gaze met mine and he stepped even closer, till there was only a single inch
ISABELLE’S POVI arched my eyebrows, tilting my head towards her. “And what is this matter that must be addressed?” I asked incredulously.I could see the envy shining in Tania's eyes and the clear irritation under her skin as she looked at Lila. She was going to find a way to bring her down at any cost, even if it meant lying. Her dark gaze shifted to Lila, her eyes narrowing with clear disdain. “This girl owes me something—an item that rightfully belongs to me. The necklace around her neck.”The room fell silent as all eyes turned to Tania with full attention. My expression hardened, and my wolf growled softly in my mind. ‘This girl’s arrogance knows no bounds.’ She snapped.I took a deep breath to remain calm, and then I cocked my head and asked, “And how does the necklace Lila is wearing suddenly belong to you, Lady Tania?”Tania straightened, clearly thrilled her plan to humiliate Lila seemed to be working. “Her necklace is a delicate piece, silver with a sapphire pendant. Lila
ISABELLE’S POV The intensity of his sharp look sent a chill down my spine, but I refused to let it show one bit. Instead, I cocked my head at him, arching my eyebrow and maintaining my composure. My wolf didn't stay quiet. ‘Told you meddling in his affairs wouldn’t end well. He seems furious. Are you satisfied now?’ she growled with disapproval.‘He’ll get over it,’ I shot back inwardly, not backing down for a second.Tristan stepped forward, his eyes darting between us, he could already sense the rising tension in the room and let out a light chuckle to diffuse it. “Then let’s forget about it,” he said, dismissing my proposition with a wave of his hand. The crowd began murmuring once again, their tones shifting.“It seems the princess has truly moved on from the Beta,” someone remarked.“Yes, she wouldn’t have proposed it otherwise,” another agreed.Once Matilda stepped away, the crowd eased up and dispersed. Rowan shot me one last look before he also turned around and walked away
ISABELLE’S POVThe murmurs instantly ceased, and a line cleared amongst the crowd as they quickly stepped aside for me to walk past all bowing in unison. I walked in with a tiara that accentuated my royal bearing, but as I stepped inside, I could feel Rowan's presence right behind me.I quickened my pace, to put some distance between us, but I could still feel him trailing close behind me, his presence frustratingly too close.I threw a sharp glance over my shoulder, my voice low but firm. “Why must you follow me everywhere?”Rowan smirked, unfazed by my question or my demeanor. “It would be improper for me to distance myself from the princess, don’t you think?”My wolf snickered, clearly irritated by his cockiness.I quickened my pace, determined to shake off the rumours that my entrance with Rowan would soon spark. I could feel the eyes of the crowd boring through us, I knew they would soon start gossiping about us being back together.I needed to escape him so I quickly strode tow
ISABELLE’S POV“You think you belong here?” one of the women at the head of the circle sneered. “With such an ugly dress? Did you sew it yourself?”The circle erupted in laughter. “Honestly, the audacity of some ugly paupers to show up to the palace New Year banquet in nothing but rags.”My blood boiled as I watched the scene unfold. My attention remained fixed on the group gathered near the bushes. At their centre stood a tall slender woman, with dark luscious hair, her voice sharp as she mocked a plainly dressed girl clutching a necklace.“You dare bring this cheap trinket to a royal ball?” she sneered, yanking the necklace from her hands. The girl in the middle held her head up high despite the humiliation and mocking. “That necklace was my mother’s. Please return it,” she asked calmly, although her voice was shaking with emotions. The bully's lips curled into a cruel smile as she held the necklace up with one finger. “Why would I return this trash to you?” She mocked.“Please, d..
ISABELLE’S POVAlan looked away, his voice barely audible. “You are clearly of noble descent. And I'm just a struggling painter trying to make ends meet. We are from very different worlds.”For a moment, I stared at him and didn’t know what to say. Hearing such words from Alan touched me more than I expected.“You’re wrong,” I spat out, my voice sharp and firm. “Alan, you’re one of the most confident, most talented people I have ever met. Our worth isn’t defined by titles or wealth.”Alan’s eyes flicked up to meet mine, and for a moment, there was tense silence between us.I leaned in closer to him, our warm breaths mingling in the air between us. “I don’t care about status or wealth,” I whispered, my voice gentle and tender. “Those things don’t matter to me.”His face turned a deeper shade of crimson, his body trembling beside mine. I giggled softly, and I couldn't resist leaning in and pressing a gentle kiss to his cold cheek. Alan froze, his heart pounding loud enough for me to he
ROWAN’S POVShe hesitated for a second, biting her lower lip. “She’s already invited me, hasn't she? Maybe... maybe it’s time I stopped seeing her as my enemy. I don’t think she hates me anymore.”I studied her closely through the mirror, my brows furrowed. Matilda had always been timid, hiding behind others. But deep down, I knew she wasn't a bad person.“Well then, I guess I'll come with you,” I said after a moment.Matilda smiled faintly. “Thank you, Rowan,” she whispered.Despite my calm exterior, I was feeling a strange tension gnawing at me. Something was disturbing me and—it was Isabelle. For some reason I couldn't explain, I also wanted more interactions with her. Ever since she suddenly stopped clinging to me or chasing me, I couldn’t shake the unease I was feeling in my gutIt was as though I lost something without even realizing it.ISABELLE’S POVOnce I left the supermarket, I went straight to Alan’s modest home with the groceries I bought. My mind still wandered briefly
ISABELLE’S POVI turned around, only to find myself face-to-face with Beta Rowan. He had a dark scowl on his face, but his stern expression immediately softened when he saw Matilda still lying helplessly on the floor. Before I could say a single word, she scrambled off the ground and rushed towards him to stand behind his towering figure, clutching his arm and casting a wary glance back at me with an innocent expression.Rowan watched the scene with confusion, his gaze flickering between us. His frown deepened when he looked down at Matilda behind him.“What’s going on here?” Rowan asked, his deep voice filled with concern as he looked between both of us.Matilda, looked up at him with her doe-like eyes, “I-It’s nothing, really. Princess Isabelle was just... pressuring me.” she said, her voice trembling.Rowan's eyes whipped back towards me, a deep frown marrying his features. I could see the questions in his gaze, wondering who to believe.I can't believe Matilda would go as far as l
RYKER’S POVI stared at Isabelle in utter shock, her confident confession hanging heavy in the air between us. Her words were bold and direct, cutting through my usual stoic defences like a sharp blade.“I’m here because of you,” she said and I couldn't get her voice out of my head.It wasn’t just her words but the way she said them—with so much sincerity and brashness—that managed to throw me off balance. For the first time in so many years, I was not sure of how to respond. For a man like me, used to control, logic and order, the raw emotion I could feel in her voice left me almost speechless. My wolf growled, urging me to respond and acknowledge the feelings stirring deep within me. But I just couldn’t, I needed to leave.I was flustered under her prying gaze, my face turning a deep shade of red that spread down my neck.I took a step back, “I... I need to review a case file,” I blurted, stumbling over my words as I quickly retreated.Without waiting for her reply, I spun on my he
