Hey Everyone.I am sorry for the inexistent updates. I have been struggling lately with my mental health and being extremely tired as I work full time, have two kids, a fantastic partner, and a house to take care of, not to mention writing. It's been a crazy couple of months, and I needed time to rest, catch up on some rest, and spend time with my family without worrying about writing. I was waking up at 4 in the morning so I could write and then get myself ready for work and the girls ready for school and nursery, all before 6:30 am. It was insane how I was living on so little sleep. I decided to prioritize my health and family, so I disappeared for a little while. I lost a lot of money doing so, but now I am back, and I will do my best to give you daily updates. So please be patient with me, and remember, we authors are just humans. We understand it is frustrating for you because you want to know what happens next, but it is also frustrating for us if we are so tired we can't even
Callie POVPacking my things has been emotional. I don’t really know what to take with me. How long am I going to be with him? I don’t want to overpack because I don’t want him thinking I am thinking about just moving in, but I also don’t want to underpack.I let out an exasperated breath as I sat on the floor, folding t-shirts and putting them in my overnight bag, which I had pulled from the wardrobe. I watch as Jagger watches me with his phone in his hand. His knuckles are white with the strength of his grip on his phone. I frown, looking at him standing up. Jagger’s eyes move with me, and once I am in front of him, his eyes soften, and he shoves his phone into his pocket. “Is everything okay?” I ask, and Jagger nods slightly. He is not a very good liar, which is not really good for a lawyer of his caliber. Jagger’s hands move to my lower back, pulling me closer as he buries his nose on my neck, inhaling deeply. “Look at me,” I say as I cradle his face between my hands and his bea
Jagger POVMy phone rings, and I blink several times, pulling my arm from under Calliope and rolling to answer it. “Hello,” I let out in a whisper as I stood up and walked into the bathroom attached to my room. The light turns on with the movement, and I frown, adjusting my eyes to the bright light. “We have him,” Dash says on the other side, and I rest a hand on the sink as I stare blankly into the mirror. I let out a breath and bent my head slightly to try to assimilate the words Dash was saying to me. “He is in a hotel downtown,” Dash adds, and I take a deep breath. It’s not the first time we had Petrov but he escaped. The doctor ended up giving us more information than we thought he knew, but Petrov is fucking smart, and by the time we got to him, he was fucking gone. “Jagger, are you listening to me?” Dash asks, and I nod my head even though my brother can’t really see me doing so. “Jagg,” Dash lets out, and I can hear the concern in his voice. “Yes, give me twenty and I’ll m
Callie POVI blink my eyes several times, trying to adjust them to the brightness passing through the curtains in the bedroom. I close one eye, peaking only from one, and I realize Jagger is not in bed with me. Automatically, I dart up and look around the room, pulling the hair away from my face. “Jagger,” I call out, but no one responds. I take a deep breath, fall back down on the bed, and pull the blanket to cover my head. I smile. I don’t know why I am feeling like this. I feel like a schoolgirl who finally has the attention of the team captain. I close my eyes, remembering the night before. Jagger kept me on edge until he allowed me to have my orgasm. I don’t even know how it is possible to be so good at sex. I have never experienced anything like that before. You know when someone touches you, and you feel the butterflies flying in the pit of your stomach. No? Well, I didn’t know it either until now. Every touch coming from that man is absolutely divine. I pull the blanket awa
Callie POV“I asked you a question, Calliope,” Jagger says. His eyes focused on mine, and I blinked several times, trying to come up with an intelligent response, but nothing came out. I feel the shame creeping in and taking over my face as I feel it warming up. “Answer the fucking question, Calliope,” his tone makes me frown and take one step away from him.Jagger has never spoken to me that way before. His anger pointed at me. I wasn’t the one writing those terrible things, I am the one being attacked, and he is the one with a stick up his ass? I grip his wrists, moving his hands from my face, and Jagger lets out a breath as I take a step away from him. Jagger moves to get closer to me, but I take another step away from him. “Why are you talking to me like that?” I question Jagger as I cross my arms in front of my chest, raising my eyebrows and staring directly into his eyes. I am tired of people playing with my feelings and thinking they can control my life. Jagger shakes his hea
Jagger POV“Jagger, you have Donna Johnson on the line,” Janet says through the intercom between my office and her desk. I let out a breath closing my laptop and answering the phone. “Donna, what can I do for you?” I ask. I am not the type of person to go around having chit-chat. I have always been cordial with Donna, but we don’t really have a lot in common. She is more of a social worker case. She likes pro bonuses and cases that won’t get her anywhere. She was never money-thirsty. “Jagger, thank you for answering; I know you are a busy man,” she says. I sit back in my chair, closing my eyes for a few seconds, waiting for her to continue, but she stays silent. “As you said, Donna, I am a busy man,” I let out through greeted teeth. I have nothing against her, but the fact that she is wasting my time is starting to annoy me. “I would like to sit with you; I need a lawyer,” she says, and I frown, sitting back up on my chair. Now, she’s piqued my interest. “I wouldn’t be contacting
Callie POV“Are you ready for this?” Donna asks, and I shake my head as I bite my lower lip. Jagger is looking at me as he has his microphone fitted on the lapel of his jacket. “It’s going to be okay; stick to the answers we rehearsed,” Donna says, and I nod. I watch as the woman fitting the microphone bats her eyelashes at Jagger, and he is entirely unaware of her. His eyes are on me, and once she is done, he shoves his hands into his pockets, walking to me. Donna steps to the side as he stands before me, offering me a slight smile. “You two need to remain as a united front. We have checked all the questions being made, but reporters always go rogue,” Donna says, and Jagger nods.“Not my first press conference,” Jagger lets out, and Donna inhales a breath at his tone with her. She can barely look him in the eye and is blushing at any eye contact between them. I frown, watching her behave like a schoolgirl next to Jagger. Donna never behaved like this. She was always very cold toward
Callie POV“We would like to thank you all for being here, and we would like you all to please respect Mr. Bolton and Miss Flores’s privacy as much as possible. We know you all have questions, and they will do their best to answer them,” Donna says as she smiles, staring directly at the three rows of reporters all staring back at her. I admire how comfortable she is looking in front of everyone.I rub my hands on my legs under the table, and I see Jagger looking at me through the corner of my eyes. He moves one of his hands, placing it on top of mine, stopping me. When I look at him, he gives me a small smile and nods, trying to encourage me. “Please understand Miss Flores won’t be speaking of the legal case surrounding herself at the moment as it’s all in court still, and if Miss Flores is not speaking, the same goes for Mr. Bolton; please be respectful and mindful,” Donna says before she sits next to me.We have a huge table dividing us from the press and Donna points at the first
