Jagger POV“Jagger, go through the back door,” Wyatt says through the earpiece. I immediately run around the farmhouse. When I reach the back door, it’s wide open, and I look around, trying to find the doctor. He has to go on foot; there are no marks of cars in the back. “Door is open,” I say, and before I receive the order, I run in the direction of the woods in the back of the house, passing the barn but stopping to check the doors. Locked. He won’t be inside. He wouldn’t have had the time to open and lock himself inside. Besides the locker is on the outside of the barn. I keep running, and when I reach the clearing, I stop looking around, picking up some footprints. Slowly I bend and look at the direction the footprints will lead me to. “In the forest,” I bark at everyone listening to the call connected to the earpieces we are all wearing. I follow the footsteps as quietly as I can, but I can hear the man running behind and talking between themselves. Pressing the button on the
Jagger POVEntering the barn I scrunch my nose as I look around. I don’t know what they’ve been doing here, but it smells like someone died here. I beg your pardon. It smells like there’s a body in decomposition here. I look around and find the source of the odor. There’s a freezer on the corner of the barn; walking to it, I open the lid, and the smell hits me like a fucking hurricane turning my stomach and making me heave. I slam the door shut as I wipe my eyes that start watering immediately with the smell. “What the fuck have you been doing here?” I ask as I look around, finding several torture instruments and machines. This is worthy of a good room, not a barn where water leaks and animals come in to eat.I find several torture instruments on one of the tables, and when I open the fridge next to it, I see several bags of blood. I grab one and shove it in front of the doctor’s face. “I can see your practice is not just in New York,” I say as I tear the bag open and spill the bloo
Callie POVIt’s been more than two hours since Jagger messaged me, saying he was coming to see me. I allow the disappointment to take over as I sit on the edge of the bed, looking down at my naked legs. I decided to wear a flowery dress that hugs my curves but in a flattering way. Realizing he is not coming, I stand up, take a deep breath, and let my hair down from the fancy ponytail I had done as I look at my reflection in the mirror. I have a soft layer of makeup. I walk to the small table where I have my makeup and grab everything I need to remove it from my face. Once I am make-up-free, I remove my dress, shove my old PJs away, and walk to bed. I decide that turning my phone off is the best option. I put it on the side table and curl up in bed, grabbing my Kindle and my reading glasses. It’s amazing how I didn’t question if he was really coming or if he really wanted to see me; I just believed a random message. Closing my eyes, I allow the tears to roll down my cheeks as I cry
Callie POVWaking up next to Jagger feels weird but good at the same time. He is an amazing man, and the press has him completely wrong. They describe him as heartless and cold, but he is anything but it, at least with me. He shows me every second he spends with me, he is caring, and all he wants to do is make me feel good, not just about myself but also about our weird situationship. I can’t really say we are in a relationship because we haven’t had that type of conversation yet, but obviously, I wish we would have.I know I am falling fast and hard for him, and I want the world to know that the most beautiful man is taken, not by a supermodel or a superstar, but by me, a normal girl with a normal life without luxury. I am a girl who comes from a family of immigrants who work hard every day to provide for me and to improve their lives.“What is going through that pretty head of yours?” Jagger asks as he looks at me. The way his eyes scan my face makes me realize we don’t really know
Jagger POVWalking down the corridors of the safe house, I feel the hair on my arms and legs rise. I don’t like this feeling of unease. I like to know everything that is going on at all times. I open the door that leads to the basement, and as I start going down the stairs, I hear Dash’s voice booming from inside. “You fucking cunt,” he shouts, and I rush down the stairs to find my brother holding his nose between his hands as he leans down. I frown watching as the man in front of him spits at my brother. No one bothers to move, and I shake my head, passing through the men watching my brother struggle. “What the fuck is going on here?” I ask as I reach for Dash and help him up as he spits blood on the floor. The bruise on his right eye is already forming, and as I am about to get my brother out of the cell, the man tries to punch me, but I kick him in the stomach, making him fall on his knees, grabbing his stomach area. “Take him to see the doctor; where is Ghost?” I ask, closing t
Jagger POV“Good Morning,” I say as I walk past Amelia and Janet. They are both giggling, and as soon as they see me, they stop. I stop in front of them, and Janet clears her throat, staring at me as Amelia clears tears that rolled down her cheek for laughing. “Are you Having a good time?” I ask, and Janet nods and bursts into a fit of laughter. I shake my head as I walk past her. Once inside my office, I open my laptop to read the first news of the day, and to my surprise, I see Carmen Rover is under investigation at the police station. I lean forward, removing my jacket and placing it on the end of my desk as I read the news. At the same time, Amelia enters my office, places my coffee on the desk, grabs my jacket, and takes it to hang in the coat hanger. “Can I get you anything else?” Amelia asks, and I shake my head, not really paying much attention to her. I keep my eyes focused on the screen in front of me. I scroll through different news outlets, reading every article. My pla
Callie POV“Happy birthday,” I let out as soon as I enter the limousine Rachel hired for her birthday. Her smile is wide and contagious. Rachel is wearing a pink dress that hugs her curves and leaves nothing to the imagination, while Carson is wearing a black suit and red shirt. “Looking stunning, you two,” I say as the door slams closed behind me. “Oh my God, look at you,” Carson says, winking, and Rachel nods as she passes me a glass of champagne. “To Rachel,” we cheer as the driver takes us to where we will meet Rachel’s other friends and the people she invited tonight. I know there are around ten people in total, and I don’t think I know any of them except Carson. This has always been her home, and growing up and going to school here does have some perks, like having your friends around you in the same social and economic circle. “Please don’t sleep with any of my friends,” Rachel says as she looks at Carson, who, for once, looks shocked. He looks as if he was taken by surprise
Callie POVHolding my drink, I look around as Rachel talks to a group of girls, and Carson dances with a blonde girl. I watch my best friends having fun, and I can’t help but smile, thinking how lucky I am to have them in my life. Not having them would’ve been catastrophic. I don’t know how I would’ve survived the last year without them. The support they both have given me is something I will never be able to repay. “Come on, let’s dance,” Rachel says as she walks to me. Rachel offered me her hand, and I took it right after placing my drink on the table beside me. Rachel guides me to the middle of the room, where Carson watches us with his arms open. He places one arm on our shoulders as we all jump, singing the Taylor Swift song loudly. “I am having the best time,” Rachel says, pulling me into a tight hug while we keep dancing. The beat changes, and we all start dancing on our own, and soon after, everyone joins us in the middle of the room. Sweat is rolling down my neck and back,
