Chapter Thirty-Eight

“How long have you been out here?” Damien’s voice startled me. “Where’s the coin?”

“I didn’t have time to grab it.”I explained, turning to face him. He was glancing around us before he stepped closer, grabbing my elbow and leading us in the opposite direction I was headed.

“I’m not the only thing out here. You shouldn’t be wandering alone.” He seemed irritated.

I sighed as we marched through the forest. I honestly don’t know how long I was walking for, or what direction the packhouse was. “I commanded someone again.” My voice barely audible above the wind, but I know he heard me.

“Who?” 

“Jax.”
