Chapter Forty-Two

Howling pierced the air making the hair on my arms and neck stand up,  I ran as fast as my legs could carry me through the woods.

I had no idea where I was headed, I just continued to run blindy. Jax said to head towards the river, but gave me no clues how to find it. 

Listen, smell. Let your instincts guide you.

I stopped at Aurora’s voice in my head and a small whine came out of me. She had been quiet since I rejected the idea of ever accepting her mate  and I could feel the longing of him.But she must sense the danger we're in to be so vocal tonight.

Taking a deep inhale through my nose, I closed my eyes and tried to pinpoint the smell of fresh water. It reminded me of summers spent at the lake with my dad. I turned my head towards what I thought was the sound of rocks
