141 - A Hunch

Jai entered the main hallway of the building and entered the dining area. There was always a nun or a monk standing by in case anyone’s hungry after their shift. Jai never saw the dining room lacking people, so he assumed that these monks and nuns had their own shift in doing their activities in the mausoleum.

He could hear familiar voices when he entered, and noticed that the children were already awake and currently eating. One of them, Hans, noticed him immediately when he glanced at the door. 

“Brother Jai!!” Hans greeted while raising his fork of mushroom.

The rest of the children’s attention turned to him. “Brother Jai!” they greeted.

“Hey kids,” Jai smiled and stopped by their table.

It felt the same as lunch, but the difference was that the Matron was there this time.

“Good evening, Jai,” the Matron greeted.

Jai inclined his head in respect and smil
