The MC stared at Jai with wide eyes. He then made sure to turn off his echo so that no one can hear what he was discussing with Jai.
“Why would you refuse the prize, Jai?” Relii asked in deep concern.
Jai waved his hand lightly, “Oh it’s not all the prize. I’ll take the money, but I refused the guard position.”
Relii shook his head in disbelief, “Alright uhh… Why would you refuse that position?”
“Because I’m not interested,” Jai answered simply.
Relii’s eyebrows were knitted together by now. He was very confused to why would Jai refuse the position that many people would want.
“But it’s a very good opportunity! You’ll be taught by the Captain and the Major, and you’ll be included in the special force!”
Jai tried telling him again. He made sure to keep his normal smile and talk slowly.
“Yes, but… I’m just not interested. I want to go exploring, and I don’t think being a guard allows me to do that.”The MC paused for
The closing ceremony went on as was planned. The MC immediately started the closing ceremony after Jai went back to his seat. Windlets started marching to the stage and performed a dance. And then Reila the flower bird appeared with her beautiful voice. The competition had finally come to an end, and everyone left the arena with satisfied belly—heart.Jai, Darrion, and the other winners were then gathered with the committees. The committees told them about how their training would be.“There’s a sudden climate change in the training grounds. We have to make sure your dorm there is ready for your stay, so it will be postponed and held in three days. Also, we are waiting for Mac to return,” the head of the committee, Ganshu, said. He had a long white hair and beard that looked as smooth as silk. He looked senior-like.After that, they were dismissed.Jai walked back to Darrion’s house with Darrion, Gal
Tiny small feet trotted over to the stacks of hay near the barn door. A hiss followed after and the ducks that were quacking near the door immediately stepped back. They were about to leave the barn again, but it’s almost night time and the little feet wasn’t going to let them out again.A big and black, German shepherd like, dog was sitting in front of the barn. It tilted its head as it watched the small white fur ball that was standing a few inches away. The small kitten was hissing at the ducks inside the barn. The big dog had a look of confusion on its face, and it made noise that sounded like a yap and a short whine.A laugh was heard later, and then someone said, “Are you trying to mimic Maki, kitty?”The big dog turned her head to see its master stacking hays near the barn door. It was confused of the small kitten’s actions, she was hoping her master would explain to her why the little kitten was doing her job. But the owner only chuckled lightly and
“Where were you?” Jai asked when they finally settled on the dining table.“Looking for Usha. He was at the field, playing with Maki,” Miria giggled.“Who’s Maki?” Jai asked as he let Usha bit on his thumb. He didn’t remember meeting anyone named Maki in the village.“It’s Farmer Mac’s dog beast. He said Usha helped herding the ducks,” Miria was smiling.Jai chuckled. He played with Usha a bit as he said, “Seems like he was being very helpful.”“Yes, he is!” Miria replied.Jai suddenly realized something, “Hey. The farmer’s name is Mac too.”Miria tilted her head, “Yes. What about it?”“There’s a participant named Mac in the tournament. I thought the name was familiar somehow, but I didn’t remember it was actually similar to our farmer here.”He didn’t know there would be coincidences like this. But that made him realized that some life sy
“Do you really have to leave?” Miria asked as she gave Jai his bag. She had filled the bag with a set of clothes. Jai had told her that some of the battles had the tendency to ruin clothes, so he asked her not to pack too many clothes. But she packed him two sets just in case.Jai smiled, “The training’s in two days. I have plans with my friends before that.”“What plans?” Miria frowned.“Auntie Darisha insisted we prepare together in the kingdom. She said it will be easier to prepare there so that we would get more tools and things needed for the training.”Miria sighed, “I wish you would stay longer…”Jai smiled and patted her head, “I’ll be back before you know it.”Miria stared at him. She felt their connection had gotten stronger over the past two days, and she liked his company a lot. Jai seemed to enjoy her company as well, and that made her refuse to accept that he has t
A/N:Happy 100 chapters for this story! We would like to thank all of the readers for reading this far. Thank you! With this note, we will also announce that there will be some extra chapters coming up in the future that feature our side characters or Laila’s version on how an event is told. You should’ve noticed on the cover that this story is made by two people, Laila and Yunyun. Laila usually grates the idea while Yunyun develops it into fruition, so a chapter has the two of us in it.But sometimes an event is too important that we have different views on how to tell it, so we prepared our versions and decide which would be uploaded. It’s hard to decide on them, but the ones not uploaded are somehow interesting in its own way.No worries, we will not upload all of those chapters. Just some of the things important to fill in the background story of some characters like this one. And please relax, only two chapters will be upload
Darrion sighed a very long sigh. Even though he’s not on board with Jai’s decision, he couldn’t do anything except taking him to the Minister’s building. It was where the committee was at, because they were working under the Minister. If by any chance he was the one on the top three, he would not let it go just like that. Well… If he wasn’t a windlet, he would deliberately think about it for days before deciding what he would do. Jai did really look like he was deep in thought when they were taking a bath, but Darrion didn’t think he would decide this fast.Being the kingdom’s guard through a tournament is not an everyday lunch. It should be either to make a new elite group or well, they would probably have more privileges and access.“Do you still remember what I said?” Darrion asked as he looked Jai in the eyes. He didn’t want his friend to convey his feelings in the wrong way and make the committee misunderstood his wish.
“Wooohhoo!! This is what I’m talking about!” Darrion shouted excitedly. The blonde stretched both of his hands to the side like Rose did in the front of the Titanic. He was trying to feel the wind breezing past his body. The blonde laughed, “Do you feel it Jai?! Do you feel the wind?!” Darrion yelled as he tilted his head a bit.Jai stood a few feet behind the blonde, shielding his eyes from the overly breezy wind coming at them from the front. He knew he should’ve refused when Darrion asked him to come here. He should’ve just stayed in the front deck with everyone. That way he might’ve enjoyed the scenery more rather than being crashed by the intensely breezing wind and bundles of freezing clouds.Oh yes, I forgot to tell you, they were on a flying ship heading for the training camp.“Shouldn’t we stay inside the barrier rather than outside of it?!” Jai yelled back.“Just for a few seconds!” Da
After they leave the ship, the committees escorted the great teachers inside immediately while the participants were gathered at the front door. Jai couldn’t help but be reminded of those giant doors in Asgard. He remembered that in one of Thor’s movies where his sister was introduced, his sister was chasing the Asgardians to the mountain and came across a pair of giant doors. This giant double door looked almost exactly like the ones in the movie, except it was shaped into an arch rather than a simple long rectangle. There were also carvings on the door. It was a very intricate design and Jai was impressed by the detailed artwork.“I hope there will be no angry chicks chasing me here demanding a throne or a possessed ring,”Jai hoped silently. This place looked exactly like those fantasy movies he ever watched in the past. The monochrome, the relief and statues, the jagged rocks everywhere, the cold wind blowing, the mist… Oh yeah, he’s living the dream.
