Sienna's POV

It was over. I started to feel cold. I couldn't struggle anymore. I tried to reach for the surface to get air one more time, but I couldn't. The water's current was too strong.

My hands stayed up, as the water dragged me down. I felt sorry for all the things I hadn't done.

My vision became blurry, and I closed my eyes. This was the end. But something pulled me up.

I couldn't see it. It gripped my arm, pulling me upward until I felt the water below my head.

I was too weak to see what it was. Then, I gasped desperately as the air touched my nose.

The air was freezing, and the water splashed as it pulled to the sand. I had never felt more grateful to be on land.

Somehow, I prayed it wasn't any of kieran's men, or I would be in bigger trouble. I had attacked him after all and escaped his packhouse.

Slowly, I opened my eyes, blinking as my chest heaved while I panted. I was never going near the waters again.

It was dark, and a blurry face looked at mine smiling. My eyes closed again, and I felt I was carried and a heavy dash of wind blew past my face.

Was he running with me?

Soon, he stopped and I felt warmth around me. The flame and then his warm hands touching my cold face.

I forced my eyes open, trying my best to breathe and realized I was in a room. The bed was large and comfortable and the sheets rested perfectly in my hands.

I had to stop this. It was becoming a habit of waking up in a new bed everyday.

I knew it couldn't have been kieran's because the room had a much darker tone to it.

My head was spinning and I groaned, touching my forehead.

Where was I?

I would thank whoever had helped me and leave. I slowly moved the sheets off my body and got ready to leave when I noticed the vintage bookshelf decorated with gold.

Everything smelled rich and dangerous. I swallowed hard, my pulse hammering.

I swung my leg off the bed, and my bare feet touched the cold floor.

I ached all over, but I ignored it. I got off, and fell to the floor. My body was still weak.

I should have healed that fast? I guessed my wolf was weak to help me this time.

The door opened and I raised my gaze to see a tall, commanding figure walk in.

He looked magnificent, with his red eyes staring at mine.

I immediately knew he had been the one to save me.

His black shirt hugged his body, matching with the thick black trousers.

He gently pushed the door closed and walked closer to me. His eyes never leaving mine for a second.

I remained in that spot, studying his features. His eyes were cold, and his skin was pale. A weird color I had never seen on a human. I was equally pale skinned.

Maybe, he's never walked out in the sun.

"You're finally awake," he spoke gently. His voice was smooth and there was a hint of amusement.

My throat felt dry as I tried to speak, but I found my voice. "Who are you?" Did you save me?"

He stopped right in front of me and crouched down to my level. "Yes, I did. You looked like you needed help."

His face pulled closer and he breathed. "I'm Caius Blackthorne. Lord of this sanctuary."

He sounded so old. His name felt odd and surprisingly familiar.

He smiled, making me think deeper as he spoke. "I see you aren't familiar with the name."

I remained quiet, racking my brain for an answer and repeated his name in my head.

I blinked, looking into his eyes as the silence grew.

"Are you hungry?" He asked, breaking the silence.

"I…uh," I stuttered, trying to be careful.

"I won't kill you. I know werewolves are supposed to be our enemies," he continued.

What? Enemies? How did he know? Oh, never mind. He's probably a werewolf too. But he just said werewolves were supposed to be his enemies. Does that mean….?

"What are you?" I asked, my eyes tracing his pale skin and back to his red eyes.

He smiled even bigger, and answered. "That's not really important."

He started to rise, and I grabbed his hand. It felt terribly cold. A lot different from the warmth I felt last night.

"You're so cold," I said.

"I have always been cold," he responded and carried me in his arms from the floor.

I wanted to complain, but couldn't as I looked so small compared to him.

"I'll have the maid prepare some meat for you," he said, and I realized what he was.

"You're a vampire aren't you?" I blurted.

His eyes flickered, but he remained silent.

Then he spoke calmly. "Yes."

"I should head back," I said.

"To where?" He asked. "The midnight syndicate wants you dead. And you escaped from the Shadowfang as I heard and got yourself knocked out."

"News spreads very quickly," I replied.

"Yes, Ruby wolf," he said, startling me.

How did he…?

"I have known you for a long time, Sienna Valerie Storm," he answered as if he read my mind.

The way he said my name sent shivers through my body.

"I can't read your mind, if that's what you're thinking, but I can tell from your expression," he added.

He laid me back on the bed. "Your ancestors and I used to be good allies."

My eyes almost popped out of their sockets. "What?"

"The Ruby wolves. It's a pity you're hunted now," he continued.

"I bet you can't tell what you are. Your fill powers," he added, and pulled a sandal from under the bed, wearing them on my feet.

"Can you tell me?" I begged.

"Of course," Caius answered, leaning closer. "You don't know how much power you carry in your blood."

"I…" I stammered.

"Fine. I'll tell you everything you need to know, but you have to do something for me, first," he said calmly.

"What would you want?" I bargained.

"I want a bond with you," he said, his gaze darkening.

"How?" My voice rang before I could think of anything.

"Yes," he said softly. "A blood bond, Sienna."

My heart beat dropped and I stared at him with fearful eyes.

"I'll help you get what you want, and you become mine," he breathed.

I swallowed, weighing my options. I had escaped Kieran to be met with something worse. "And if I refuse?"

His smile turned darker, and he answered. "Then you have to fight the midnight syndicate from taking you away."

Bastard! Had he informed them?

"So, what's it going to be Sienna?" He asked. His voice was cold as the water that had almost drowned me.

Kieran's POVI boiled with anger. Sienna was gone and my men had let her slip so easily. They were sloppier and stupid than I expected. I clenched my fists at my sides, wanting to hit something but I kept my calm. My men lowered their heads and I looked around in anger. They shifted slightly anytime I got closer to any of them. "Is this how you intend to protect the pack?" I asked. They remained quiet and Darius stepped forward. "She couldn't have gone far, alpha," he said. "I have sent some men to the border.""If she isn't found before the sun goes down, then you'll have to suffer. Do I make myself clear?" My voice thundered and they nodded. "Yes, alpha," they answered. "Find her, now!" I ordered and they dispersed. Darius looked at the men and back to me. "Aren't you taking it out on them a little too much? She's just one wolf."I let my eyes for the talking and he swallowed. I kept quiet, not wanting to lash out and walked out of the packhouse. The men followed behind me a

Kieran's POVDarius and I stood at the huge castle gate and I rang the bell. It was ancient just like the castle. The door opened inwardly and echoed as it cracked the stone on the floor. We instinctively exchanged a glance and once the door touched the wall, we stepped in. The passageway was decorated in a modern style and I was pleased with that. I wasn't about to cry a flame torch around. The air smelt old with incense and a tall, slender pale man came to us. "Welcome, Alpha Kieran," he greeted. "And to you, Darius.""Please, this way. Lord Caius is waiting," the man said, gesturing for us to follow him.We followed silently and walked on the polished stone floor. The corridor led us to a large meeting hall with vintage chandeliers hanging from the ceilings. There he was seated at the far end of the hall, on a black marble chair. "Caius," I said and the pale messenger bowed and left. He looked just as dead as everyone in this castle. "Kieran Draven Wolfe," Caius said, smiling

Sienna's POV They froze at the sound of my voice, mid strike. They looked wild with their fangs and claws out."I said, stop it!" I repeated in a firm voice. Darius struggled on the floor, moving slightly and tried to crawl. They turned to me, at the same time, their hands falling gently to their side. I could see they were still tense. Kieran's green eyes softer as he saw me and he slowly returned to his human form. Caius did the same, his fangs and claws retreating. "What were you two going to do? Kill yourselves?" I asked, walking fast down the stairs. The fresh scratch on kieran's cheeks healed before I reached down and he wiped the blood off his face. Caius, glowing eyes returned to its usual red eyes and his torn lips healed. Kieran stepped forward, and I moved back. He stopped, stretching his hands out. "Sienna, come with me."His voice was calm, pleading and softer than the last time he spoke to me. "I can't," I answered and caught Caius smiling. I was mad with myself

Kieran's POV:Three of Crant's men lunged at me, but I didn't hesitate. I barely moved a muscle sticking them down with my claws drawing blood. The men fell to the floor unconscious and I wiped my hand off the blood. "You were saying?" I asked. Crant watched, unimpressed and with a wave of his hand, all his men attacked at the same time. I threw them off easily. Darius fought, and Caius stayed protecting Sienna from any of their attacks. "Stop!" Crant yelled, and his men halted. Half of them had fallen to the floor unconscious if not dead. He took off his coat, tossing it aside to the floor and settled into a fighting position as he cracked his knuckles.Darius bared his teeth, ready to pounce, but I shot him a warning look. "Don't."Darius frowned, and halted. "What…?"I looked at Crant, raising my index finger and moving it slightly before bringing it down. "He's got the smell of wolfsbane on him.""You have sharp senses, Kieran. I expected no less," Crant said. Damn him! He

Every part of my body hurt."Stay down," said a soft voice. Darius stood by the door, his face unreadable. "Kieran will be back soon.""What happened?" My throat was dry, so I croaked. "The men in masks—" "Gone. "Kieran chased them away, but not before they..." His eyes darted to my arm.I stopped moving when I met his eyes. There was a thin red line around my wrist that looked like a band. The skin around it was red and angry."What did they do to me?" I whispered, fear rising in my chest.Darius shook his head. "I don't know. Kieran told everyone to search the grounds."As soon as he left, I swung my legs over the bed. Something felt wrong—hollow. Darius's POVThe moon cast long shadows through the trees as I moved quietly through the forest. My heart hammered in my chest, but my face stayed calm. Years of practice had taught me how to hide my feelings, even from other wolves who could smell fear.I reached the clearing and waited, ears alert for any sign I'd been followed. No one in the pack suspected me—not even Kieran. Especially not Kieran.A twig snapped and I spun around, claws extended."Jumpy tonight, aren't we?" A figure appeared from the darkness, her face hidden beneath a hood."Isa," I answered with a curt nod. "The attack went exactly as planned."She pulled back her hood, showing sharp features and eyes that gleamed with dangerous magic. The Black Moon Witch smiled, but it never reached her eyes."And our Ruby Wolf?" she asked."The mark has activated," I confirmed. And Sienna, my beautiful Sienna, stood at the center of it all, unaware of the blood we shared. The water rippled, showing Ronan approaching the packhouse with his hands raised. Foolish boy. Love had made him weak."My Queen, we've lost contact with Nyx," Vex announced, entering my chamber. Blood stained his hands—someone had displeased him again.I waved dismissively. "Ronan killed him. It matters little."My inner haven lay deep beneath the mountains, far from prying eyes. Ancient symbols carved into black stone walls glowed with magic. A throne of polished obsidian commanded the room, wolf skulls decorating its high back."Summon the others," I ordered.Five hooded figures filtered in, making a half-circle before me. The Vampire King hadn't left this castle in over a century, yet his reach stretched far beyond these walls."My son returns," he stated, silencing the court with a wave of his pale hand. • The Last Ruby Wolf - Live as a Queen or Die as a Monster   Blood and Betrayal

Kieran's POV I stared at the Midnight Queen as she stood before us, her mask of shadows moving like smoke. My body felt wrong caught between human and wolf, the silver poison still burning in my blood despite Sienna's healing. "Run," Sienna whispered again. But I wasn't going anywhere. Not this time. The Queen raised her hands to her mask, fingers wrapping around its sides. The forest seemed to hold its breath. Then a howl cut through the night my Beta, Rafe, calling the pack to war. The Queen's hands froze. Her head tilted, listening. "Your wolves come, Alpha," she said, voice like ice sliding over stone. "But they won't save you." With a wave of her hand, darkness overtook the clearing. I felt something sharp slice across my chest claws or a blade, I couldn't tell. Sienna cried out somewhere to my left. Ronan shouted. Then the darkness lifted, and the Queen was gone. "Is everyone alive?" I asked, putting my hand to the fresh cut on my chest. Sienna appeared at my side, her

Ronan's POV I ran through the forest, following Sienna as she chased after Kieran's howl. My side still burned where her fire had healed my wound not with pain, but with a strange warmth that spread through my blood like liquid gold. "Slow down," I called. "We need a plan." She glanced back at me, her red hair a flame in the moonlight. "There's no time." But I saw the fear in her eyes. Fear not for herself, but for Kieran. Something twisted in my chest. Jealousy? I pushed it away. I had no right to feel jealous not when I'd been sent to kill her. Not when I'd betrayed her once already, even if I couldn't remember doing it. Zeke caught up to us, feeling the spot on his head where he'd been struck. "Sienna, Ronan's right. Darius is setting a trap." She stopped suddenly, turning to face us. "I know. But I can't leave Kieran to die just because it might be dangerous." "Why?" I asked, the word leaving before I could stop it. "Why risk your life for him?" Her eyes met mine, and for

Sienna's POV I woke with a gasp, dirt and pine needles sticking to my cheek. Stars glittered overhead through a cover of trees. My body ached as if I'd been thrown from a great height, and maybe I had been. The cave was gone. The trial was over. But the face I'd seen the true enemy behind the Queen's mask burned in my mind like a brand. "Impossible," I whispered, pushing myself to my knees. My head spun with the movement, and I clutched at a nearby tree root to balance myself. It couldn't be true. And yet, deep down, I knew it was. The person behind everything, the hunts, the lies, the manipulation was someone I trusted. Someone who had led me. Isolde. My boss. The Black Moon Witch herself. A sharp pain shot through my wrist. I looked down to see a new mark forming on my skin a perfect crescent moon wrapped around a ruby-colored flame. The mark of the Second Trial. "I passed," I whispered, tracing the symbol with my thumb. "But at what cost?" Memories flashed through my mind

I called out, my voice echoing in the stillness. No answer.I pushed myself to my feet, wincing at the ache in my muscles. The last thing I remembered was running north with Ronan, then the attack. Queen's killers everywhere. And thena cloaked person.A small flame sparked to life in my palm, throwing eerie shadows on stone walls. I was in some kind of cave, but not one I recognized."The Ruby Wolf awakens."I spun around, flame burning brighter as I faced the speaker. A tall woman with silver hair and black eyes stood at the opening to a tunnel I hadn't noticed before."Who are you?" I asked. "Where's Ronan?"The woman smiled, showing pointed teeth. My Beta was right, as usual. Our temporary camp buzzed with activity outside my tent. Guards shouted directions, preparing for another attack. Darius's warning had saved lives, but I still couldn't bring myself to visit him in the medics' tent. Some betrayals cut too deep."You have a visitor," Elena said quietly. "Should I send him away?""Who?" I asked, wincing as I changed position."Your uncle."I closed my eyes briefly.
