The Lost Gem

Amira POV

The time has come. Our Kingdom is in chaos and surrounded by a blazing ball of fire but here we are, the three of us, the King, my father, Agnes, my Damah, and me, their princess hiding inside this hidden place under the palace. I never thought about my father, as the King, was becoming a coward to protect his people. 

What is he planning to do? Is he going to run away with us by giving us directions on where to escape? Is he going to abandon his beloved Kingdom and people? I'm confused at this moment. The time is ticking and we wasted enough time here. I waited for my father's brilliant plan if he had any. 

"Amira, I know you can't see this, but I guarantee you, this thing in my hand can eradicate King Reez's armies and him!" finally I heard my father's deep voice. 

I sulked when I heard him saying about what he called thing. I am trying to imagine what he meant by it but based on what I felt while standing nm in front of my father, strange and strong energy keeps enveloping my skin. I felt goosebumps everywhere hearing him destroy the enemies. It's not appropriate to just stay here in this unknown niche. Why father slows down? If that thing can perish all the perpetrators in a glimpse, I think we should move now. 

"What do you mean by that father? May I know what is your secret weapon to kill them all?" I asked him.

My ears could still hear people screaming and I can visualize everything in my mind that is happening without me seeing them in my bare eyes. Even my father had no idea that I know what he's holding in his hands. It's a golden gem surrounded by a shimmering light. I want to know too why I couldn't see but I can visualize them through the sounds.

Someone holds my hands and it's my father. 

"It's a Heart of Magic! It's a long time ago but today is the right time to use it!" He told me and I can tell in his voice that he was excited about using the said gem. 

My mind was filled with confusion and suspicions but this is not the time for that. We had to go outside and save our people in the hands of King Reez's legions. 

"If that so, let's go farther, let's help our people!" I said to him and I made one step back to where we came but he grab my arms instantly. 

"Wait. You stay here with Agnes. Its power is too tricky and I'm not sure if I can control it!" He told me and I halt to asked him why. 

I had no idea why Agnes was too quiet. Since we got here I haven't heard her uttering a single word. 

"Why father? Why?" I feel nervous right now. I think something disastrous will happen if my father will summon the magic inside the stone he called the magic gem.

I heard him taking a deep breath. 

"I'll tell you later, my beloved daughter! Agnes, take care of Amira. Just stay here and I'll come back, I promise!" It's the last words I heard from him and I felt him passing beside me. 

I was about to tell him to come back alive but he's so fast. 

"My lady, let's pray for the best!" Agnes came closer to guide me. 

I hold her hands and she leads me to sit in an empty chair while waiting for my father. While both of us were left, I ask my Damah about it. 

" Hey, Agnes, you're so quiet. Do you know anything?" I mumbled while putting my waddy beside me.

My hunch is telling me to be careful. I could smell death. I felt her cold hands and suddenly the floor is shaking. We haven't had time to talk to each other as the ground continued trembling like a high magnitude of an earthquake striking the whole place. I immediately grasp my cane and I check my tools behind me. I felt Agnes was holding my arms like she was helping me not to fall on the ground. 

"My lady, I think the power has been unleashed!" Her tone quivered as the ground doesn't stop from shaking.  

I was unaware of this power. She took me out of the chair. I think she's leading me to a gateway out from the castle. She's pulling me going nowhere. I am blind but I could sense that something happened until it came inside my head. I saw everything. I saw how my father killed them all. I saw how all of the enemies and innocent people turned to ashes like a piece of paper. 

"Wait, Agnes! Where do you take me!" I'm struggling from her grip. She's not answering me. 

She keeps pulling me somewhere. 

I put my cane on her neck.

"I can kill you anytime you know that. Please, tell me what you know!" I asked her calmly. I don't want to hurt her because she's a good friend of mine. 

She took a deep breath. She stops and listened to me. 

"Okay. Everyone died up there! The King is alive but to save us and his throne, he killed his people. " I can't believe what she's telling me is all real. 

How could my father kill his people? Is he that selfish? Does that gem contain a significant role in his Kingdom? 

"You're fibbing!" I said at Agnes while pushing her away from me. 

"Yes, I am. Let's escape now or else, we will die like a roasted chicken too." She's still humorous at this dilemma. 

I had no choice but to follow her. I can't blame the King, besides having a blind princess was huge trouble for him.

King Tharks used his mighty horse Axel to navigate the way up to the palace.

He brought the Heart of Magic with him. He's had high expectations about what kind of power this thing could emit. This was his second time in history to use its power and he was not afraid to use it again and again to invade everyone who tried to steal his throne. 

King Reez had no idea that his foe and friend has his champion. 

Tharks finally came outside the palace and he saw how his people raise their swords and drive their horses approaching their enemies. He witnessed how some of them fell and got stab it slice their necks with enemies' swords. 

"Oh, finally the coward came! What happened to you, Tharks? I thought you fled by yourself?" Reez mocked his old friend.

Tharks saw Reez behind his armies, waving his sharp swords towards him. Seeing him again makes his blood rise to its boiling point. He can still remember the day where Reez burned his wife and son like a boar inside their bedroom. Tharks eyes gazed at him with range. He draws a smirk on his face. 

"Coward? Oh, I remember a criminal who murdered my family! Do you think you can defeat me? Well, I won't let you!" Tharks' voice echoed while he lifts the Heart of Magic in the air. 

Reez's eyes opened wide and his face turned pale like the dead. 

"The lost magic gem!" Reez murmured and can't think straight, how King Tharks has it. 

As he raises it in the atmosphere, the ground started to shakes like a tremor leaving a tiny crack on its surface. 

"My Lord, help us!" Tharks people are waving their hands for mercy. 

All of them were stuck in between deep chasms on the ground and only three steps to make and all of them will fall into the pit of burning fire. 

The battles stop when Reez saw his men's body who strangely turned into sands. Without prior observation by him, I think the powerful gem in Tharks hands was doing it. He has no power to fight him and he will disappear too like his armies and Tharks people. He only thinks of himself too. His son was waiting for him and his wife. 

"Run! Save your life like a coward too Reez!" Tharks shouted at him while controlling the power of the gem in his hands. 

Reez stared at him with full of disgrace. 

"Criminal! You killed your people to save your ass!" He snarled at him while pulling his horse's ties to escape. 

Reez thought his life will be spare but as he reached the palace gate, his body began to turn into ashes until his only horse went home without his owner. 

The oscillation of the ground stop and the cracks on its surface began to press each other with no holes to see. The whole Kingdom went back to normal. The calmness of the atmosphere and the clear shades of the blue sky began to work with each other to welcome a good day. 

The battle ends and Tharks felt like God with the Heart of Magic in his hands. He doesn't care about some of his people died because of his decision. He can have many people as he wants with the help of this powerful magical stone where he found it to an enemy's lair. 

"Queen Hydra, what a foolish girl are you? He mumbled as he set devilish laughter that echoes in the whole Kingdom.
