“Get Adolf out of here. Focus on escaping!"” father exclaimed.

Mother silently agreed, and without any further protestations she picked me up and marched me out of the area. Her brow furrowed slightly as she looked upon my crestfallen expression, but it didn't stop her from carrying on.

“But Father-”

“Your father can handle them. Trust him.”

I bit my bottom lip hard, desperately trying to hold back the tears that threatened to burst forth. My gaze was glued to my father who had done his best to save us all earlier, and in that moment I could see how scared he had been when it seemed like all hope was lost. These occurrences were now deeply imprinted into my memory; I would never be able to forget the looks of terror we both shared in that moment. Even now, thinking about it caused me immense distress and anguish while mother is carrying me.
