I looked up at him in shock. Did I hear him correctly? Was this real or was it a prank? “M-mother?” I stammered, looking between them with wide eyes.
“Yes.” Amanda smiled. “I’m soon going to be the mother of Derek’s first child. I’m 3 months pregnant. Won’t you congratulate me?” She said, grinning at me like she had just shared the best news possible. My head was spinning and I felt bile rise up in my throat. “Derek? Is it true? You’ve been sleeping with her for months and you got her pregnant?” I asked with pain in my chest. I prayed he would deny it, that he would say she was lying. That she had drugged him or something else, but one look at his cold face told me I was only deceiving myself. This was not my Derek anymore. “Stop crying Vera, you’re embarrassing me and yourself. Just go home, I don’t know why you had to come and ruin my fun time for me and my Luna.” If my heart was broken before, his words had completely shattered it now. I slowly got up to my feet with tears still streaming down my face. “Why are you doing this to me Derek? You said you loved me! You said you’d never do anything to hurt me! You said you hated Amanda and the others for hurting me. So why are you doing this now?” I cried but to my horror, Derek burst out laughing. “You stupid little girl. You really believed all that? You’re really dumber than I thought. Of course I had to say all those things. How else could I keep you as a loyal, obedient little pet? I just told you what you wanted to hear and you eagerly ate into my hands like the desperate, pathetic little Omega you are.” His words felt like a physical punch to my stomach. The painful lump in my throat grew so much that it was getting hard to breathe. If Derek had taken a knife and physically stabbed me in the back with it, I doubt it would hurt more than this. “So everything was a lie then? You never loved me. You just wanted a loyal pet that you can control. Is that it?” I asked and Derek shook his head. “No my darling. Not everything was a lie. I do love you in my own special way. You were always so obedient, so desperate for my approval, always eager to please me and you never knew how to say no. You were the perfect little pet. But I love you and Amanda both, and I want to keep you both with me. In fact, I want to get you pregnant with my pups soon too.” He revealed with a smile and I almost vomited.“What?!” I gasped. “-You’re not.. are you serious?! You think I will stay with you after what you’ve done? You must be crazy! I don’t want anything to do with you ever again!” I yelled before turning on my heels, with the intention to storm away, but Derek suddenly grabbed my arm and yanked me back against his chest.
“Where the hell do you think you’re going? You think you can just break up with me and leave? After all the time I’ve invested in training you to be so good for me? Hell no baby girl, you’re mine forever, or until I get tired of you.” I stared up at him in horror. How was this the same man who gently kissed my bruises? who hugged me when I cried? who promised to love and care for me for eternity? When had he become so heartless? When had he become so cruel? Or was Amanda right? Had he always been this way and I had been too foolish to see it? Amanda’s voice suddenly snapped me back to reality. “Derek please come back to bed. Let’s finish what we started. The bed is getting cold without you.” She cooed at him and he smiled at her with a hungry look in his eye. The look he gave her made me want to puke. Before I could react, Derek called in two guards and shoved me into their arms. “Lock her up in her room. I paid her father good morning to buy her when she turns 18, so you better not leave a scratch on her.” I gasped at him. So that was why my stepfather never objected to our relationship? Because he had already sold me to Derek? All the men in my life were heartless, rotten monsters. What had I ever done to be treated like this?! The guards immediately dragged me out of the room, but instead of taking me down to the dungeons like I expected, they took me to the very next room and locked me in it. I let out a gasp of horror when I saw what the room was. The room was obviously specially designed for me. It had my pictures and my name hung or plastered across the room. But that wasn’t the horrible part. The part of horror was that there were chains and whips attached to the bed and other parts of the room. There was also a small dog cage in the corner of the room with a dogs bowl in it. The bowl had my name on it. The cage was for me. Derek was going to lock me up in here and force me to be his pet slave! He was truly sick! It was clearly a twisted prison but I should still have been relieved that I wasn’t in the cold smelly dungeons, but then I suddenly realized why they locked me here. The walls were paper thin and I could hear Amanda moaning very loudly as Derek continued to fuck her in the very next room.
I tried to block the sound by covering my ears but it didn’t work. I could still hear everything. I eventually gave up and curled myself on the floor, letting the painful sobs finally wreck my body. A part of me still couldn’t believe what had happened. In a flash of a second, all my hopes and dreams of a new life with Derek, the only thing that was keeping me together, was smashed to pieces. It was all a lie, and I was the greatest fool to ever believe that someone as powerful as Derek would ever love someone like me. This was all my fault, it was all happening because I was weak and pathetic. I couldn’t protect my mother and she died because of me. If I had a wolf at least, then maybe I would have been useful to the pack. But no, I was weak, pathetic and I let myself trust a handsome man with sweet empty words. But never again! Derek hadn’t just broken my heart tonight, he had killed a very important part of me. I would never ever be the same again. I cried until there were no more tears to cry. Then I passed out on the cold floor. I was roughly woken up by someone pouring water on my face. I gasped awake as the water entered my nose and made it hard to breathe. I wiped my face and looked up to see Jessica grinning down at me. She was more than happy to see me humiliated like this. “Wakey wakey Princess Vera. How do you like your new room? And did you enjoy what you saw in Derek’s room last night? I tried to warn you, but you refused to listen.” She laughed with that familiar evil glint in her eyes. The former me would have begged her to leave me alone, I would have let her do whatever she wanted to me so that she wouldn’t get more angry. But that part of me was dead now. Derek killed her last night. I looked her straight in the eyes and sneered. “Fuck off Jessica!” I saw her eyes go round with shock at my words. She clearly never expected me to retaliate. Suddenly her hand struck out and she landed a very hard slap across my face. “You fucking Omega bitch! How dare you?! How dare you talk back to me like that? So you suddenly grew brave huh? You think you’re better than me just because you’re prettier?Because all the boys can’t stop lusting after you, you Omega Slut?” She screeched with red hot anger.
I was no longer affected by her insults, and I wasn’t scared of her anymore, instead I just coldly smiled at her. “So is that the reason you always hated me? Because I’m prettier than you? Or because all the boys like me better?” I sneered back. She roared in anger and was about to hit me across the face again but Derek suddenly appeared and grabbed her hand mid air. “I told you not to spoil my property! Do you know how much she cost me?!” Derek yelled, shoving Jessica away from me. She wanted to argue but Derek commanded her to leave us, and she reluctantly obeyed. Derek looked back at me and smirked. “I heard what you said to her a minute ago. So you finally grew some balls to fight back? What changed?” I smirked back at him. “I realized that my former boyfriend was a stupid imbecile, and a worthless piece of shit who is trying to control me because he knows just how weak and pathetic he truly is.” Derek stared at me with so much hatred that I got worried that I had pushed him too far. Before I could react, he lunged at me and slammed me into the wall. His hand tightened around my throat so much that I stopped breathing. But just when I thought I was going to die, Jessica burst into the room with panic in her eyes. “Alpha! Alpha!” She screamed. “What?!” He snapped, angry at being distracted from his attempted murder. “It’s Alpha Sylvester. He just crossed our borders!” She yelled and Derek froze. I saw the blood drain from his face in obvious fear but I couldn’t blame him though. Anyone who heard about Alpha King Sylvester knew they were in trouble. Alpha Sylvester was bad news. Very very bad news.Thankfully, Derek rushed out and left me immediately after that. He didn’t have a choice. Alpha King Sylvester was the Alpha among Alphas. He was the ruthless beast that even the worst rogues where scared of.Rumors say that he has never lost a battle, and he bathed in the blood of his enemies after a fight. If you were to be so unfortunate as to ever cross his bad side, then just say your last prayers because King Sylvester would not hesitate to track you down and skin you alive. But that was only for his enemies, and luckily for us, we weren’t his enemy. In fact, King Sylvester was sort of our friend with benefits. The rogue attack that killed my mother was still happening for years after that, so our former Alpha made a deal with Sylvester to protect us from the rogue attacks.Alpha king Sylvester was to use his men to protect his border, and in exchange, we would give him a human tribute every other year. So every other year, Alpha Sylvester came to our pack and picked any woman
The cold night air clawed at my skin as I bolted through the thick underbrush, my breath ragged, heart pounding. I could feel the pulse of the full moon above, its pull on my body strong, almost unbearable. It whispered to the beast inside me, coaxing it out with each step I took deeper into the dark forest. I stumbled, catching my balance just as a branch snagged my cloak, tearing it. The guards were close. Too close."She’s heading for the woods!" one of them shouted, their voices a harsh echo that rattled my already frayed nerves. The metallic clink of their armor was growing louder, heavy boots crashing through the fallen leaves. I cursed under my breath, pushing myself harder.I couldn’t let them catch me. Not like this—not when I was so close to losing control. I could already feel the shift starting in my bones, an ache that spread through my body, threatening to tear me apart from the inside. The transformation was inevitable, but I had to hold it off. At least until I was far
The convoy of King Sylvester rode through the dusty roads of Los Angeles, creating a scene that sent shivers down the spines of inhabitants of the town. Through the cobbled streets lined with a blend of new and old buildings that snuggled side by side, King Sylvester and his guards showed off the notoriety that instilled fear in the hearts of inhabitants of the city. The convoy was made of twelve battered vehicles. At the rear, was a gray van where I lay within the cage which formed the storage bay of the vehicle. Two guards sat, flanking me on either side, their faces shaded by shadows occasioned by the moonless sky.The consistent hum of the engines from the cars synced with the thrum that sounded in my ears - the impact of the attack that earlier took place in the forest. Smarting from the brutal attack and regularly spat gobs of blood and phlegm onto the road. A tang of blood clung to my temple and my head throbbed with every jolt of the van when it hit a speed bump.A deluge of t
I woke up with a start, the faint sound of a howling dogs sent me reeling out of unconsciousness. I couldn't stand up, a throbbing pain evident all over my body. The impact of the beating from the previous night had taken its toll and now my body was nonetheless heavier than a massive tree trunk. The barking of the dogs was becoming too loud. Curiosity piqued, I managed to drag my numb frame from the bed, my shackled wrists and shackles making my movement cumbersome. The chain scrapped the floor with a jarring screech as I slowly moved towards the window. It's dusty pane offered a sweeping view of the Castles massive concourse.Below were a triumvirate of elegant dogs, their leashes, in the firm grasp of a tall, middle -aged woman clad in a dark gossamer gown who stood conversing with one of the Castles personnel. She was stern-faced and she evoked a certain authority which I thought arose from her position in the Castle. She tilted her head towards my direction and I noticed that sh
Flanked by Lorna and a guard, I walked slowly through the immense concourse to the gardens which was situated east of the sprawling castle grounds. The cool morning breeze caressed my skin while the dipping sun cast a golden hue across the plush greenery.Once again I sensed Queen Annalise squinting through the blinds of her window. I ignored her furtive behavior and approached the garden where he was solitarily seated. A polished marble table was positioned in front of him and was adorned with fruits, barbecued fish and meat. Balmy bulbous glasses containing the finest of wine complimented the arrangement atop the tableAs I walked towards the table, a lascivious glint tinged in his eyes. "You are welcome, Vera. Here's a seat for you," he gestured at the empty concrete seat that was on the other side of the table. With a wave of the hand, he dismissed Lorna and the guardI exuded an indifferent face, furious at his calm disposition - a day before, he exhibited the arrogance of a swas
The werewolf emerged from the ruins, its silhouette accentuated by the bright clouds that offered the creature a rich backdrop. It was ready for a fight.King Sylvesters was huddled in the SUV, keenly watching the raging behemoth and his guards engaged in a duel to the death. His guards, a blend of human and werewolves disembarking from the vehicles in a bid to eliminate these wild creatures.Deploying them was premised on a number of reasons. The most important being the maintenance of security across all counties within the North Western Hemisphere.Three of the guards were positioned on the hood of their cars taking shots at the grisly monster. However, this was unpredictable. The shots were only possible once the target was locked and if this was not possible, they remained ineffective till the target was on point.Meanwhile, the beast was wild. it lunged at the men, leashing it's claws at them. Looming ahead was King Sylvester's castle. Accordingly, the vehicles came to halt before the ornate castle gates, its towering spires creating a sense of awe anytime the castle was approached.Reminiscing on the battle which just took place, I observed that the bloody memory was etched in my mind. The images of the harrowing sight kept replaying in my head like a broken kaleidoscope.King Sylvester got out of the vehicle with the air of an arrogant victor, every move reflecting his disposition as a battle ready fiend. His guards flanked him despite looking weary but vigilant. As we made our way inside the Gothic castle, a tall, blond haired Dante Sims, the head of security, emerged from the arched doorway, his countenance contorted into a frown. He engaged in an exchange with King Sylvester instantly.I conjectured something was off. They muttered a few unintelligible words and I could see Sylvester suddenly exude a look of apprehension. His jawline tightening immediately.Dante accom
I dashed towards the perimeter wall, my legs, in frantic athletic strides, moved as fast as they could carry me. Heaving with each breath, I could feel the chilly night air searing my lungs. The jaunty stone of the castle slowly blurred past me, but the burden of it—or him rather—still weighed down my spirit.Freedom seemed to be beckoning at me with every inch covered. The imposing perimeter fence loomed ahead, sharp iron spikes like the grotesque talons of a hideous beast appeared to be reaching for the sky, imbuing fear in potential escapees like myself. The moonlight accentuated its appearance with malevolent intensity. I had no choice than to scale this wall. This was the last hurdle that had to be surmounted to taste freedom. This area was devoid of the presence of any guards; Slipping out before anyone noticed seemed to be my escape route. But as I got closer to the fence, a petulant growl sliced through the cold airMy feet were rooted to a spot out of fear. My heart skipped
VERA'S POVThe warm sunlight streaming through the windows of the small cottage highlighted the joyful atmosphere of our little family's lunch gathering. Kevin, Astrid, Apollo, and I sat around the wooden table, laughing and chatting as we savored the delicious meal Sophia, my boss at the bakery, had packaged for us in a box as a token of her benevolence. Kevin, ever the attentive listener, asked the twins about their morning's adventure, and they eagerly shared stories of their exploration of the nearby woods. I smiled, watching my children's faces light up with excitement, feeling grateful for this peaceful moment amidst the chaos that had been brewing in our lives. As we finished our meal, Kevin's expression turned serious, and he leaned in, his voice low. "I have some news," he said, his eyes locking onto mine. "I received a message yesterday from my guys, I mean my childhood friends back at the castle. It seems that Sylvester, Uncle Ryan, and Sigurd are at war, each vying for co

They were evenly matched, their swords striking each other with a force that sent shockwaves through the air.But slowly, Sigurd began to gain the advantage. His sword sliced through Briggs' defenses, striking him with precision and skill. Briggs stumbled backward, his eyes wide with fear as he realized he was beaten. And then, in a final, desperate bid to turn the tide of the duel, Briggs lunged forward, his sword flashing in the light of the throne room. Sigurd parried the blow, his own sword striking Briggs with a force that sent him crashing to the ground. As Briggs lay there, his eyes wide with shock and pain, Sigurd stood over him, his sword raised for the killing blow. "We can't let them gain the upper hand!"Sigurd nodded, his eyes scanning the battlefield. "I see Uncle Ryan's standard," he said. "Let's make a push for it. If we can take out Uncle Ryan, we might be able to break their morale."Grimbold grinned, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Let's do it!" he shouted, charging forward into the fray.As they fought their way through the enemy ranks, Sigurd and Grimbold finally reached Uncle Ryan's standard.
