"Why did you do it, Barlion?"

Letting out a sigh, I turned my eyes over to the setting sun.

"I did it to drive you away." I answered, not seeing the reasons to lie to her about it.

"Drive me away?"

"Yes. You see, I had made a deal with my father. He told me all I had to do to get to the crown was marry the woman of his choice. Of course, he went back on his word after our wedding ceremony."

Letting out a sigh, I looked at her and realized that he eyes were now on me.

"I never wanted to take a wife, not for a long time. You had been the only thing standing in the way of the crown so I married you. But I didn't need a wife and I needed a way to make her leave on her own."

Frost looked hurt by my words as she turned her eyes back to the sun set.

"You could have just said you don't want a true wife. You didn't have to go and hurt me like you did."

Her comment made me want to kick myself. Her soft voice was filled with so much emption that it made me want to pull her in to my arms amd apol
