Chapter 3| Personal Servant

My heart was beating so fast as I took step forward to the door of the room.

Why had he suddenly requested my presence? Was it because of what had happened at the function hall?

'Calm down, Mira. We will know his intention when we get there. Just calm your nerves so you won't make any mistakes,' my wolf, Astrid, said.

She was right. I needed to calm down because whenever I was anxious, I always did things without thinking first.

I had already stood at the front door for several minutes. It was time to take the final step. I took a deep breath and then released it slowly.

King William's POV

"Why have you suddenly gotten interested in an Omega, King William?" My Beta, Conrad, asked out of curiousity.

I couldn't help but let out a deep sight. " I just want to see her. For palace purposes," I said. It was half-lie and half-truth.

Conrad looked at me in bewilderment as if he was wondering whether I had lost my sanity.

I averted my gaze from him and took the goblet. I poured some red wine in it and took a sip while staring outside the window.

The last time I saw the Omega get bullied by my half-brother, I felt something strange towards her.

I heard her... 

I heard her...

"Save me..." I murmured.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and it quickly brought me back to the present. I stopped sipping the wine and turned my attention to the door.

"Come in," I called.

Conrad glanced at me. I knew he wanted to say something, but he chose to hold it back for whatever reason.

Seconds passed and then the door opened, and she slowly entered my room.

It was the Omega.

As usual, she bowed her head respectfully to me. When she looked up again, she seemed stunned. Her mouth was agape as she took in the beautiful interior design of my room.

I felt so good to watch an innocent person adoring such small things.

'Conrad, you may get out for a while,' I said to my Beta through our mind link.

He looked at me after receiving the order and bowed his head.

She didn't even take any notice as my Beta walked past her and left the room. She was that distracted and mesmerized. I had to draw her attention by clearing my throat noisily.

She was startled and turned to face me. I noticed that she blushed when she saw that I was wearing only a robe. She swallowed as her eyes lingered on my body.

A smirk crept to my lips.

Naught Omega.

I cleared my throat once again to grab her attention and she quickly dropped her gaze to her feet. She was clearly embarrassed that I had caught her staring at my body. But when I smelled her arousal, I couldn't helpt but grin.

"Fantasizing about me, huh?" I said playfully.

Her eyes widened in shock and she quickly went down on her knees.

The playful smile on my face vanished immediately.

"Forgive me, King William! Forgive me! I'm just an Omega, a mere servant who should never dare to fantasize about the King! Forgive me!" she pleaded profusely, the fear clearly shown in her eyes.

Her actions made me angry all of a sudden. I was fed up with such acts. Everyone in the palace always acted like this whenever they made a mistake. Some even made mistake intentionally because they knew I couldn't punish them of they said sorry or kneeled down in front of me.

They knew how I felt about punishing members of my Kingdom and they were all taking advantage of it.

Even though I was already a grown man, there was still a part of me that remained a child... A child who wanted love, attention, and recognition. Unfortunately, they all saw me as a dangerous creature and even a weakling.

I balled my fists to suppress the pain rising inside my chest and I walked up to her with no trace of emotion on my face.

"Stand up," I commanded in an authoritative voice.

"Please, don't punish me..."

"I said stand up!" I roared in anger.

'Please' was the word I had said so much that I could hear it inside my head. It was the word I used whenever I begged the Moon Goddess to treat my condition so the Kingdom would no longer insult me or look at me as a hideous monster or a weakling. 'Please' was the word I had said over and over under the moonlight almost every night.

This Omega was just like the others. She saw me as a punisher and a monster.

As she stood up, it was clear that she was shaking in fear.

"Look at me," I ordered in a sharp tone.

"King William..."

"I said look at me! Why do you have a habit of making me repeat my words?" I asked with a hint of irritation in my words.

"I'm sorry, King William," she apologized and looked at my face.

As soon as our eyes met, I felt something inside of me awaken from a deep sleep. I didn't utter a word. I just kept looking at her, running my ruby eyes all over her face even though I knew she felt uncomfortable with what I was doing.

Eventually, my eyes fixated on her left cheek and she turned her gaze back to the floor.

"I didn't order you to bow your head," I said and moved closer to her,

She slowly took one step backward.

"King William, there's no beauty that could be found on..."

"Just shut up! Why are you so stubborn?! You are just an Omega! You should obey me!" I shouted in fury. This was what they wanted, wasn't it? To make me feel that I was always wrong!

"No... I mean yes. I..."

I interrupted her by holding her chin tightly. I lifted it, forcing her to make eye contact with me. She winced in pain due to how tightly I was holding her chin.

When she opened her eyes, she gasped at the realization that our faces were only just an inch apart.

"King William..." she whispered and swallowed hard.

My eyes wandered all over her face. She got shy and embarrassed when my eyes landed on her left cheek again where the huge scar was.

There was a part of me that felt crushed as I looked at her scar. It was just like we were both the same.

I had my own serious flaws. For one, the inability to control my wolf. Because of this, I had been mocked and insulted even if I was the King. They didn't appreciate my love for the entire Kingdom.

All I wanted was love, but they wouldn't give it to me. And the useless Omega in front of me too.

Both of us were...

"Ugly..." I said out loud and clenched my jaw. Hatred and sadness started to rise inside my chest.

"You've served he palace for over twelve years, right?" I asked.

She quickly nodded and averted her gaze.

"In those twelve years, have you ever found me pleasing?"

"Y...yes, King William," she answered almost in a whisper.

Good answer.

I moved my face closer to her. I knew she was doing her best to not make eye contact with me. I could hear her heart beating like it was going to burst any minute.

"Am I great?" I asked.

"Y...yes, King William," she stuttered.

A surge of happiness spread all over me.

"Am I powerful?" I asked, wondering what her answer would be this time.

"Yes, King William," she answered and swallowed.

I frowned in disbelief. "Liar," I said in a cold voice.

She gasped, startled and afraid.

I let go of her chin and moved away, leaving her to nurse it for a while.

After a few seconds of silence, she looked at me. I sighed deeply and went towards the bedside table. I put down the goblet on it and sat on my bed. I now wanted to test her loyalty.

"Come here," I commanded in an authoritative voice.

She looked hesitant, but she obeyed my command quickly.

When she was finally in front of me, I took off my right shoe and showed her my barefoot.

"Kiss it," I ordered.

I saw how she froze at what she'd heard.

"P...Pardon?" She asked in confusion.

I took a deep breath, and my irritation was evident in my eyes.

"I said kiss it. Kiss my foot," I repeated.

She stared at my foot and swallowed.

Is she going to do it?

I wondered. But after several minutes passed, she was still standing in front of me, looking at my foot. Hesitation was visible on her face.

I began to feel dissapointed.

"Are you deaf? Don't make the Alpha King wait!" I roared.

She flinched and then she slowly went down on her knees in front of me.

I heard her swallow before haolding my right foot. Her hands were shaking so much. She was clearly very much afraid.

Minutes passed and she kept gawking at my foot in her hand.

"Are you going to do it or not?" I asked in impatience.

She lifted her gaze and looked at my face. The smell of her arousal was slowly subsiding.

"I... I can't," she murmured and gently put down my right foot before standing up to her feet.

I was shocked to say the least. My eyes were wide and my mouth agape in disbelief.

"What did you say?" I asked, hoping that I had heard her wrong.

She lowered her gaze and folded her hands in front of me. She looked like someone who had prepared herself to face punishment.

"I can't. I'm sorry," she apologized, with sincerity in her voice.

Pain struck inside my chest. I knew it! She was just like them!

My chest seemed heavy as I got out of bed and stood up to pick up my goblet from the bedside table.

After that, I walked up to her and stopped in front of her.

"From now on, you will be my personal servant. That's an order," I commanded.

I knew that this particular dissapointment would last long. Apart from my Beta and my parents, I had thought there was someone else in the palace who adored and appreciate me and knew how much I loved the Kingdom.

If they all looked at me in the same manner, then fine! If they saw me as a hideous monster, fine! If they considered me weak, fine!

She quickly looked at my face and blinked in surprise.

"Do you understand?" I asked in irritation.

"Y....yes, King William. I undertand," she nodded.

"Good."

Maybe the dissapointment I was feeling woould end if I saw her struggling. But I wasn't countin so much on it.

I lifted my goblet with some wine in it and made her look at it. And then, I suddenly let go of it deliberately.

"Ah!" She yelled in shock and as the goblet fell and clattered on the floor, spilling wine everywhere.

"Clean it," I said before walking out of the room, leaving her with the mess I had created.

"In this palace, no one loves me," I whispered as I walked away.
