Upon arriving at the company, Edward's decision to resign became the talk of the town among his colleagues. In the midst of packing his things, a red-haired woman approached him.

"Edward, are you really serious about resigning?"

Edward paused for a moment, staring at the woman before answering calmly, "Yes, why?" he replied briefly, without the slightest hesitation in his voice.

"It's nothing. It's just that I feel sorry to see a man as handsome as you have to experience this kind of betrayal, but if I were your wife, I would do the same thing; what's the point of having a handsome but poor husband."

"Whatever my reasons are, it's none of your business; after all, which man would want to marry a woman like you?"

"What do you mean? I'm a good woman, not a cheap woman like your wife, who would sell her body to another man for money."

Edward sighed, looking at the woman coldly, "Do you really not want to? Or is there currently no man willing to buy your body?"

After saying that, Edward walked away, leaving the red-haired girl furious.

But Edward's steps were halted when he bumped into Kyla, the CEO of K.Y. Company, where Edward had been working for the past few months.

He saw her looking at him in surprise.

"Edward, where are you going? Why are you carrying your things?" the woman finally said.

"I am resigning from the company, Miss."

"Resigned?" Handsome Kyla was surprised. "Why did you suddenly decide to resign? Did you get a job elsewhere, or perhaps your salary is less?"

"No, it's not like that, Miss. There's absolutely no problem here. It's not about the salary or anything. It's time to take up my real duties.

"Are you sure?" She asked with an astonished look, her eyes constantly trying to find the lie in Edward's face. "Or is there something that makes you feel uncomfortable while working here? Honestly, I'm quite surprised to hear that. I always thought you were fine,"

Before Edward could answer, the blonde-haired girl who had been insulting Edward interjected excitedly, "Miss Kyla, it seems you haven't heard the latest news today!"

Kyla furrowed her brows, curiosity showing on her face. "News? What news?"

The girl chuckled before answering in a mocking tone, "Edward divorced his wife, ah no, more like he divorced his wife,"

"What?" Kyla was shocked, her eyes widening in disbelief. "Is that true, Edward?" Her voice was filled with curiosity as she tried to confirm the truth of the rumour she had just heard.

"Of course it's true, Miss. isn't it, Edward?" the blonde-haired girl replied, still with that annoying little laugh.

The usually calm Kyla could no longer contain her emotions. "That's no reason to laugh at someone!" Her tone was firm and piercing, making everyone who heard her fall silent; no one dared to look at her directly.

Kyla continued angrily, "How can you laugh at your coworkers? Do you think a matter like this is worthy of a joke?! Don't you ever think that something similar could have happened to you, your family, or your relatives?! Are you going to laugh at them too?!"

The entire room sank into silence. People bowed their heads, not daring to move.

"You should have supported Edward as a coworker. Give him some understanding so that he will be strong enough to deal with his domestic problems instead of demeaning him like this."

"I'm sorry, Miss. I didn't mean to do that. I just..."

"Just what? Just wanted to joke around. That's not something you can joke about; you should know that."

"Sorry, Miss, I ...."

"Why are you apologizing to me? Apologize to Edward. He is the one you insulted with that remark."

Stammering, the blonde girl turned to Edward, her face flushed with embarrassment. "I'm sorry, Edward. I made a mistake," she said in a regretful tone.

Edward looked at the girl for a moment, "Yes, I'm sorry. Now get out of my sight before I change my mind."

"Yes, well, I will leave now."

Seeing the blonde-haired girl leave, Edward intended to say goodbye, but his intention was stopped by Kyla's request.

"Edward, before you go, could you come with me for a moment? There is something we need to talk about, " she asked.

Edward interrupted and followed Kyla to her office.

Arriving at Kyla's study, the woman asked Edward to sit down, but Edward could only comply when the beautiful girl grabbed two cans of beer.

"I know you're in trouble, but have you thought this decision through?" I asked Klya while giving Edward the drink.

"Thank you," Edward said as he accepted Kyla's gift. As for my plan, I'm already very sure. It's time for me to go home and fulfil my duties. This plan has absolutely nothing to do with my problems with my ex-wife."

"Really? I'm honestly very disappointed to hear that you are one of my best employees; your hard work and discipline are needed in the company; if I think about it, I will double your salary if you want to stay."

"Thank you for the offer, but I really can't right now; I'm going to..."

Before she finished speaking, Kyla stood up.

"Sorry, I'll take the phone for a moment." Kyla excused herself, while Edward just smiled to give her space to finish her work.

When Kyla received the phone, he continued to stare at her, unconsciously smiling. He looked at her beautiful face, with her round eyes, slightly gaunt cheeks, thin lips and long black hair hanging partially down her neck.

What is this feeling?

But that very second, Edward found something wrong with the change in her facial expression.

What the hell is going on?

As Kyla sat back down, Edward couldn't help but wonder.

"What happened?"

Edward stared straight ahead, his eyes showing disappointment though his voice remained calm. "Fine, if that's your decision." His answer was short, but his nonchalant tone made Kyla feel guilty. Edward refocused on driving, but this time at a higher speed than before. Kyla sat still in her seat, her mind spinning endlessly. What was really going on? Did Edward dislike her decision to divorce? Or... could he have deeper feelings for her? "No way," she muttered softly, trying to dismiss the thought. However, the image of Edward's disappointed gaze continued to haunt her. Something inside her felt strange, as if her heart refused to accept what they had just talked about. "Congratulations? For what?" "For my success, of course," Vicky interjected proudly. "We just landed a multi-billion cooperation project." Kyla snorted, not hiding her disgust. "So you guys just came to show off? I'm not interested. Get out of here!" she ordered sternly, then turned to her staff. "Throw them out." Diandra's face turned angry.
