Chapter 7 The Baby Is No Longer Mine

I was grateful to have parents who always gave me their full support. It was what gave me the confidence to make this decision under such difficult circumstances.

That night, when I returned home, my mother came into my room with a solemn expression. "Do you want to keep the baby? As the mother, you have complete control over the decision."

I froze for a moment and then shook my head.

Like his father, this infant had given me so much trouble. Ultimately, I didn't own either of them.

"Then we'll go to the hospital tomorrow," she said calmly. "And once Nicholas comes back, we'll get the divorce done."

I hesitated. "What about his parents?"

His parents had practically watched us grow up together, and after we got married, they treated me like their own daughter. How would I face them after the divorce?

"Don't worry about them. Their son hurt my daughter. The fact that I'm not making this a bigger issue is already a kindness," my mother said.
