Mother and Daughter Bonding

Chapter 10

The past was still hunting her. It has been eighteen years but Emilia stull can’t forget the man she dearly loved but only crushed her and destroyed her life. She loved nothing but him and the only reciprocation she got was heartache. Whenever she saw her daughter, she can see the face of the man she hated but she loved her daughter despite of having a one hundred percent resemblance of her father.

“Hi, Mom. Are you ready?” Her precious daughter called out.

“Yes, dear.” She replied.

Her daughter wanted to have a bonding with her on that beautiful Saturday morning. She got her salary as Jason’s tutor and she wanted to treat her. No matter how she refused Emerald never take no for an answer. Another character that she got from her father. Once, she decides there was no way that Emerald would change her mind.

“Great! Let’s go.” She said happily.

Emilia sighed deeply. “You should not have spent this money dear. You should have saved it for your school fees and nay other expenses.”

“Mom, O had told you. Just this once, okay? Jason’s parents are paying me good just to be his tutor. My next salary I will save it, I promise.” She begged her mother.

“All right. Let’s go.” She said with a given up voice.

Emerald’s eyes twinkled and she jumped while clapping her hands. Her mother was delighted to see her expression. Emerald was really beautiful; she did not even inherit anything from her except her silky jet-black hair that makes her look like a model of a shampoo.

How unfair fate was. She carried her for nine months in her womb, been through the morning sickness and all. Had the painful delivery yet her daughter’s appearance was just like her father. Thus, throughout her pregnancy until the time for her to give birth she was alone.

“Here we are, Mom.” Emerald’s voice snapped her out from her thoughts of the past.

“So, where are you taking me?” she asked enthusiastically.

“First, I would like us to have our bonding moment is the spa.” She winked at her mother.

Emelia shook her head, trying to hold back the tears. She never went to a spa; she never had the chance to pamper herself but it was her daughter who wanted her to taste the sweet life. She can’t help but feel emotional, however, she doesn’t want to spoil the moment that Emerald has for the two of them.

“Okay.” She just said while her daughter pulls her hand and brings her inside the spa.

 A beautiful receptionist greeted them politely. Emerald talked to the woman and advised her what treatment they would like to undergo. First, they went on a body massage. Emelia never felt relaxed in her entire life. So, this was pampering means. She now experienced how it feels.

But the good time did not end there. They went on a foot spa, then had a manicure and pedicure afterwards. When they were through, Emerald then took her mother to a salon and have their hair fixed. Emelia tried to stop her daughter since it was too much but she just ignored her refusal.

“Mom, you look so beautiful. We should do this more often.” Emerald said.

Her mother glared at her. “You just promised me that this is going to be the first and last time. You will save your money.”

“Mom, I didn’t say this is going to be the last time. Of course, we are going to do this again one I get a stable job.” She reasoned out.    

“Fine, Emerald let me just remind you that I don’t need all this luxury. I just want you to have a brighter future and find a good man who will take care of you when I am not in this world anymore.” Emelia heartily said.

“Mom! Can you stop talking nonsense? I want to give us both a good life and I don’t a man in my life okay? You are more than enough.” Emerald firmly said.

“But I want a grandchild.” Emelia pouted her lips.

“That’s easy when we have a lot of money. I can undergo donor insemination or in vitro fertilization. I just need a man who will donate a sperm for me then I will have a child.” She said as she wiggles her eyebrows to her mother.

Emelia did not argue with her daughter anymore. But deep inside her heart, she never wanted Emerald to have the same fate as hers. She wanted her to have a complete family and a husband who will lover her, protect her and take care of her.

She knows that Emerald has been protecting her heart from men because she doesn’t want to be fooled and ends up like her mother. Of course, as a mother, Emelia doesn’t want her daughter to go through the same fate as she did but she doesn’t want her to end up sad and alone.

“Emelia? Is that you?” that voice made Emelia stiffened.

She slowly turned her head to the person behind her. She was currently sitting on a table that Emerald chooses for them to sit while her daughter ordered food on the counter. She chooses a fast-food restaurant for them to dine and it was a relief that Emerald agreed. Initially, her daughter wanted them to dine in a restaurant.

“Emelia, I can’t believe that I will see you again. Where have you been? You just disappear without a trace like a bubble. Where is Samuel? We heard that you two ended up together.” The woman continued when Emelia did not say a word.

She was so scared to see this woman. She silently prayed so hard that Emerald won’t see her. But to her dismay, the heavens did not favor her. Emerald came with the tray on her hand all smiles and politely approached the woman standing in front of Emelia.

“Hello, Auntie. Excuse me, do you know my Mom?” Emerald asked while placing the tray on their table.

The woman’s eye widened when she saw Emerald. “Emelia, this is your daughter? She looks exactly like Gerald.” 

“Yes, I am. My name is Emerald. Mom, what’s the problem? Do you know this Auntie right here? She’s talking to you, why are you ignoring her?” Emerald finds her mother weird, she seemed like she was spacing out.

After a while she spoke. “No, I don’t know her. Madam, I don’t want to be rude but I don’t know you. Please leave me and my daughter alone.”

The woman paled and slowly she nodded. “I apologize. Excuse me.”

“Mom, you don’t really know her but why does she- “Emerald was not able to continue when her mother interrupted her.

“Let’s eat, honey. I am tired and I want to go home please.” She said.

Emerald nodded. She was disappointed since she still wants to stroll more together with her mother. She did not believe that her mother doesn’t know the woman. Something was strange and who is Gerald? She must find out. She planned to go back to this fast-food chain. That woman seemed to know about her mother’s past.

The woman was wearing a uniform which means she works here. It will be easy to find her again and talk to her. She mentioned a name Gerald, she has a strong feeling that this certain Gerald might be her father.
