Jealousy at First Sight

Chapter 5

As they continue eating Tyler deep inside was very jealous at the scene in front of him. He wants to think that the beautiful lady is not really Jason’s girlfriend. He knows Jason since they were kids and he know that he is in love with their childhood friend Katie who is now living abroad. But just looking at Emerald every man would fall head over heels for her and it is not impossible that Jason’s feelings towards their other friend would automatically fade.

Actually that is what is  happening to him just now which never happened to him before. He was smitten by her beauty, she is really pretty without her even realizing it. Also, seeing how possessive Jason is to her, they really have a relationship. He was jealous how lucky Jason is to have her.

“By the way, Aunt Rachel please take this. My mother cooked this for all of you. I almost forgot.” Emerald hand over the food container to Jason’s mother.

“Wow, this looks delicious and I’m sure it tastes good as well.” her eyes twinkled as she opens the container and saw what’s inside.

“I am so proud to say that it is Auntie. My mother is a great cook.” Emerald said.

“Just a sec, let me just heat this one on the microwave.” Rachel hurriedly went to the counter and place the food in the microwave. “This won’t take long.” she added.

“So what makes you decide to study here, bro?” Jason then diverted his attention to Tyler.

“Well, I just thought that Dad needs a companion here. He’s been alone for a long time since he came back here years ago without me. Also, maybe for a preparation in handling the University.” he replied.

“Wow, since when did you have an interest with your family’s business?” Jason asked.

“I want to make things right this time. I’ve been unfair with Dad.” he simply replied.

“You made the right choice, Tyler.” Jack said full of admiration as he stared at decision.

It is like he is saying to his son that he should also do something right. However, Jason ignored him. Emerald could not understand what the three men are talking about. She doesn’t know Tyler and the university he is talking about. But she concluded that maybe that is their family business, so they own a school and his father stayed in the country while he was abroad now he is coming back to be with his father and somehow prepare himself so he can help with the business in the future.

So Tyler’s family is also well off. Maybe all of Jason’s friend are wealthy except her. She then feel deteriorated like she does not belong in that place, though the family welcome here with open arms and they never make her felt like she was different. It is her first time to be with Jason’s family and she never feel out of place.

After a while, Rachel came with the food that Emerald brought but this time it is now placed in a very beautiful plate that looks very expensive and the food looks great in it. Her mother’s specialty called Adobo is smoking hot and it looks very delicious and the smell made the three men sigh after sniffing.   

This time, it was now Jason who put food on Emerald’s plate. His mother and father was smiling seeing their son very attentive and caring to Emerald while his friend Tyler was frowning his jaws and fist tightly clenched. He was very jealous and mad which he finds really weird. Why was he feeling so angry seeing Jason taking care of Emerald? He wishes that it was him doing that and not Jason.

He can see himself taking care of her, he can picture out romantic scenes with her such as cuddling and kissing. He can even imagine her on his bed and it felt so right. While anger boils inside him seeing the opposite after a while, Jason and Emerald kissing and getting busy in bed.

The thought made him stood up all of a sudden. Everyone had their attention to him because of his sudden rage. They are looking at him with question on their faces. He was embarrassed when he realized what he just did so he cleared his throat and fix his face before he spoke. He calmed his self and smiled. It was so obvious that he is faking it.

“Excuse me, I need to go to the comfort room.” he apologized.

“Of course, honey. You know the way right? The house didn’t change just same when you were here ages ago.” Rachel said.

“Yes, Auntie. Thank you.” he replied and hurried himself to the toilet.

“I never saw Tyler got weird. So living in that country makes someone weird or living by yourself does.” Jason said.

“You just saw him, then you judge him in that instant.” his father opposed.

Jason did not say a word after his father’s comment. He did not opposed or defend what he said but at the back of his mind he has an idea why Tyler behaved that way. He really has something for Emerald. But as far as he knows Tyler, he never get jealous specially if it was just the first time he saw a woman that he gets attracted to.

The dinner was finished and now the whole family including Tyler and Emerald are sitting in the garden and have a little chit-chat. However, for the first time Jason was quite. He was upset with his father how he shows everyone how proud he was with Tyler. He was so used to his father acting like Tyler was his son that he was so proud, but him being like that in front of Emerald made him feel so bad.  

“I really need to go now Uncle Jack, Aunt Rachel. Thank you so much for inviting me. Hey dude, see you around. I’m looking forward to bond with you alone.” Tyler said as he winked at Jason and the latter just nodded.

“You are very much welcome, Tyler.” Rachel replied and kissed Tyler’s cheek.

“You should visit more often.” Jack said and give Tyler a man hug.

“I could drop you home, Emerald.” Tyler offered. That is when Jason spoke.

“I invited her over man. So it’s my responsibility to take her home. Thus, her mother knows that I am with her, so that’s inappropriate that I fetch her and then someone else will bring her back. By the way we have a FAMILY MATTER to discuss.” Jason said emphasizing the word family.

“Relax, dude. I was just thinking that maybe you are tired to take Emerald home.” Tyler said.

“Well, the one who’s tired here should be you because you just came from a long flight. I’m sure you still have a jetlag so you should go home and rest now, dude.” Jason insisted.

“Yeah, you’re right. I have to go. See you around.” Tyler said and waved goodbye.

“I wish not.” Jason whispered.

“Bye, Emerald. I am so glad to meet you. See you around as well.” Tyler said.

“Same here, Tyler. Bye.” Emerald said and waved good bye.

The man then went to his car and drove off. His car’s fast speed is as fast as his heartbeat. His heart was racing in so much rage and fury as Jason’s words echoed in his mind. He pronounced the word “FAMILY MATTER” firmly like showing him that Emerald is part of their family and there is no way that he could do something about it.

That night Tyler swore that he will going to steal Emerald from him. He was not sure if the two really have a relationship but if they have he really don’t care. He is ready to ruin their friendship just to have Emerald. He thought it was love at first sight though he never believe in such things but what could it possibly be when he suddenly felt jealousy at first sight seeing her in someone else’s arms? He just met her today, Tyler was really confused and it made him sleepless as he gets home and made his way to bed.
