Knowing You

Upon stepping out of the car im awed by the sight in front of me that had a huge white stone villa with surrounding gardens and walkways that looked like they led in various directions. The entire place was closed off by a large black fence and everything was stunning.

Kota grabs my luggage and leads me inside where Mr. and Mrs. Sheng we're waiting. Mrs. Sheng instantly gave me a warm hug.

"Oh, I am so very happy that we got you out of that house my poor child!"

Dumbstruck by what she had said I immediately stuttered as I spoke.

"I...Um...I-What are you..."

Mrs. Sheng pulls away a bit but still holds onto me. She smiles as she speaks and her tone was soft and kind.

"I know you probably do no recognize me but I was your biological mother's best friend! You were so young when we met I don't blame you if you can't remember. Anyways back to the point. We all know what was happening behind those doors, I made a promise long ago that when you came of age we would bring you here by no means!"

Still in shock trying to wrap my head around what was going on I started to feel a bit dizzy.

"Kairi? Are you ok?'

(We? Who's we? They knew what was going on? and what promise...)

" I...I don't feel so well Mrs. Sheng..."

Just as I say those words my vision goes black and the next thing I know I can't see anything at all.

-A little while later-

My eyes flutter open before I knew I was even awake myself. I could hear some voices near me and turn my head towards the sound to see both Mr. and Mrs. Sheng talking to what looks like a Dr.

They seem to notice my presence and come to my bedside, The Dr is the first to speak.

"Hello Ms. Kairi, I'm Dr. Hughes how are you feeling right now?"

I thought about it for a second before answering.

"I'm fine..."

He smiles at my answer and turns towards the Shengs.

"She is a little underweight and needs some more nutrients, but as for the fainting earlier it's safe to say it was just from shock and stress, She'll needs some much-needed relaxation and calming weeks to recover."

They nod and the Dr hands them a sheet of paper. Mr. Sheng follows after the Dr while Mrs. Sheng sits next to my bedside and grabs a hold of my hand.

"I'm sorry sweetie, I shouldn't have just told you those things the moment you walked in through those doors. I just got so excited to see you that I didn't think about your reaction."

I giggle a little and smile back at her.

"You did nothing wrong, Mrs. Sheng, Thank you for your hospitality."

Mrs. Sheng sighs and looks at me with pity.

"Kairi, Just call me mom from now on ok? no need for the Mrs's stuff and just make yourself at home. When you have settled in we can talk about everything alight?'

(Mrs. Sheng is genuinely so kind to me it's hard to believe it even though I am feeling it right now, It's to good to be true.)

I nod and she giggles.

" Alright so let's talk about Kadachi my son, Do you remember anything about that name or boy?"

I thought for a long minute before coming up with nothing. I shake my head.

"No, I'm sorry I do not remember anything before 6 years of age. I don't even remember my mother nor anything before that and I was 5 when she passed away apparently."

Mrs. Sheng sighs for a long second before speaking.

"Well, Kadachi and you are close in age, he's 1 year older than you, you both grew up together until your mother passed away, Then your father took you away and we haven't seen or heard from you since. We expected this to happen when we heard about your mother's death. When you and Kadachi were little you guys were inseparable it was the cutest thing ever!"

We talked for a while and I got to know her a little more, Mr. Sheng even came and joined in the conversation, it was a nice conversation. I had actually felt really good about letting it all out. I felt safe and secure for the first time and told them some of the things that happened over the years.

It took me a good few hours to have the guts to talk about it all but after they gained my trust with the knowledge of my mother it made me feel closer to her as I talked to them.

As we continue to talk Mr. Sheng gets a phone call in which he answers immediately. He comes back not long after and has a warm smile on his face.

"Kadachi will be here this evening for dinner so let's all get prepared."

Mrs. Winry nods and looks at me eagerly.

"Do you want to know a little about Kadachi before you meet him so it won't be so uncomfortable?"

I slightly nod but without hesitation.

"Of course, It'll make conversation easier too."

She smiles before talking.

"Kadachi is a bit hard to get along with these years mainly because he's matured so fast over the years. He took over the family business at just 17 years old. He completed high school at 14 and flew through and completed college at 16 then went on to be the CEO at 17.

Now he's 19 and doing really well in the business world. He's a bit cold and standoffish.

He has never brought a girl home nor has he had any interest it seems in any girls he's come in contact with. All he talks about is business or boy stuff.

When we told him we were going to be doing a contracted marriage with you he didn't put up a fight not even in the slightest. Though he's always been a pretty good boy not very much of a rebellion type towards us anyways. oh um, he can be mean and unfair at times too-"

Mr. Sheng taps on Mrs. Winrys shoulder and she giggles seeing Mr. Sheng's rigid face.

"Look at me haha im just chatting you up arent I, anyway I'll just get straight to the point. Some of his friends call him the Icy Prominent CEO and say he's ruthless when it comes to people he doesn't care for. He does like to drink though and sometimes that'll get him into trouble so that's where that comes into play he's normally well-mannered if he's sober."

(So, Why does my soon-to-be husband sound...scary...)

I got chills thinking about meeting Kadachi at that moment but Mrs. Winry takes my hand in hers seeing my reaction.

"You will be fine Kairi I can assure you that. And if for some reason even if it doesn't work out between you and our son you are still welcomed under our home and protection!"

Tears welp up in my eyes as she says the last part, Mrs. Winry hands me a tissue and she gives me a reassuring hug.

"Thank you guys so much!"
