Having dinner with his family, Adams tried to figure out the best time to share the disturbing news with them. He was so sure that it would spoil the atmosphere around the dining table for everyone and he hated being the bearer of bad news that job had already been taken by his younger sister, Karen.

The meal of hot spaghetti and fish tasted sour in his mouth today. This is no disregard to Mrs. Bright's cooking, who, for the record, is such a great cook. Adams's mind was busy trying its best to process everything that would soon become his new reality that his taste buds seemed not to be functioning. He felt preoccupied and distracted.

The dinner was going normally, with Karen, as usual, complaining about something that happened to her in school, while Mr. and Mrs. Bright simply nodded their heads to everything she said, pretending to be listening to whatever she was saying. Not that they didn't care, but Karen complained a lot, especially about insignificant matters. Adams felt anno

Clara sipped from the cup and grimaced, feeling the scorching heat burning her tongue. “Sorry, I did warn you it was quite hot,” Dr. Ellen said with concern. “Really hot! But it tastes great,” Clara said, trying to hide the discomfort in her voice. She blew on the cup with more intensity before taking another sip. “So, do you mind telling me what is going on with you? Is it that you hate this place or you are missing your old friends and classmates so much that you have started having these...what should I call them?” Dr. Ellen asked, trying to understand her daughter's emotional state. “Mom, there is already a word for it. It's called nightmares,” Clara said, trying to make light of the situation. “Do you think this is a joke? I mean, just a few minutes ago, you were screaming and crying because of what you dreamt about, and now you want to be making jokes,” Dr. Ellen said, her frustration evident in her tone. “I am sorry, Mom, it's just that the dream looked so real... "Awww! That's so sweet," Mrs Bright said with a gentle smile as she revealed herself, moved by the scene in front of her. "Mummmm!" Adams exclaimed, feeling embarrassed and hoping that his mother's presence wouldn't ruin the moment. Mr Bright was standing next to her, holding back tears as he watched his family embrace each other. He knew that this might be the last time they would all be together, and the thought was almost too much to bear. Damian took Vivian out of the woods and dropped her off at a place he believed was familiar to her. She felt grateful for his help but also confused and frustrated by his mysterious nature. "What are you?" She asked yet again, hoping for an answer. But yet again, Damian ignored that question. She should have figured it out herself by now. Maybe that was his reason; he was not giving her an answer, or maybe he hated what he was and didn't like saying it out loud. Whatever the case might be, he chose not to relate what kind of creature he is to

Clara's cheeks flushed as she thought to herself, "He looked so hot." Adams gave her a brief smile. "It was a brave thing you did back then. I mean, not every girl would stick their neck out for their boyfriend, but you did," he said. Clara furrowed her brow, looking confused. "Wait... Did you just say boyfriend?" “Yeah... You and Mathias, you guys are a couple, right?” Adams asked. Clara's heart sank. "No! No! No!... I meant he is just my friend. He is cool in his own way, just that people seem to misjudge him a lot. But I count myself as a good judge of character, and that's why I made friends with him," she said, clarifying things. Adams let out a short laugh. “You know, I actually thought you guys were a couple... Well, it's cool. I guess this makes it the second time I will be saving you from those idiots, Miss...” Adams said, wanting her to tell him her name. “It's Clara,” she said. “Clara, that's lovely,” Adams said. “You mean the first time?” she said. “Pardon?” Adams

Adams chuckled, but there was a hint of bitterness in his laughter. "Come on man, you're overthinking this. I mean, I just had to help in both cases. Even if it happened to be someone other than her, I would have done the same. Imagine those fools wanted to have their way with her, and they might even kill her to make sure she doesn't tell on them... I just had to do something. And today, they were beating a weak boy and a girl! Come on, I had to do something about that. I mean, wouldn't you?" he said. "Man, I don't know... I mean, there will always be bullies and those being bullied. This is high school. It won't change. That's how it has been since the founding of time. So what's the point of trying to help today when they will probably get bullied the next day and the next and the next after that?" Noah said, repeating those last words for emphasis. "I know how the world works. I don't need you to remind me of that. There will always be jerks and bullies, not only in high school b

Mathias continued speaking, his voice choked with emotion. “...and they didn't fail in their promise," he said, his eyes glistening with tears. "Everyday I spent with them was so precious. My grandfather taught me everything I know. He had lots of stories to tell, stories about witches, vampires and werewolves. Great stories, and I love listening to them. But good things never last long in my life. By the time I was 6 years old, my grandfather died and a year later my grandma followed him. Once again, I was alone in the world with no friends and no family." A tear fell off to the ground. "My father didn't want me," Mathias continued, bitterness creeping into his voice. "He even blamed me for his parents' deaths. I never knew someone could hate his own flesh and blood in such a way. At the tender age of 7, I had to learn how to survive on my own. I worked on people's farms for slave money, and I had to beg in the streets most times. Anything to put something in my stomach. I didn't hav

"Well, it doesn't matter who the heck he was. We have sent that jerk to meet the devil," one of the men said, and they all had a loud laugh. Clearly, they were proud of what they had accomplished, but then, as they were laughing, they noticed something strange. Two men amongst them standing close to each other, side by side, had suddenly stopped laughing, and after a few seconds, blood started gushing out from their mouths and nostrils. Then they fell to the floor, revealing Eric Damian very much alive, standing at their backs. He had two hearts in his hand - the men's hearts. "Let's play, shall we?" he said with a smirk. "That won't be a problem. Go and have fun tonight, but you'd better report to the office very early tomorrow," the Sheriff said in a not-too-serious tone. "I sure will, sir. Thank you," Sergeant Chriswell said, trying his best to hide his excitement from showing. "It's nothing. Send my regards to your fiancée, the pretty Miss Brown," the Sheriff said with a smirk. It had been approximately two days since the pretty Vivian last encountered the strange but handsome Eric Damian. She knew he was trouble, but she was really dying to see him again. Lying on her bed, which was close to the open window, she could see the night sky. She normally liked to admire the night sky, and today was no different. The sky was beautiful as always, but Vivian's heart was beating fast with anticipation. As she gazed at the sky from her bed, thoughts of that night came to her head. She nearly died that night, but yet every time she thinks about everything that happened, a smile always seems to form on he

Dr. Ellen couldn't really believe it was her daughter Clara speaking. She looked into her daughter's eyes and saw the determination and unwavering loyalty. A wave of emotions washed over her - pride, gratitude, and a tinge of guilt. She had put her daughter through so much, and yet Clara was still willing to stand by her side. "Thank you, sweetheart, but are you really sure you want us to continue living in this town?" Dr. Ellen asked again, her voice tinged with hesitation. "I am sure, Mom. Great Hill is our new home now, and I have come to accept it. I respect your decision, Mum. You didn't make a mistake coming here," Clara said, her voice calm and reassu
