Chapter two

The Drive

As we all get back in the vehicles and started driving again I let out a sigh of relief as I realized that the Alpha must have known that we would be leaving tonight as it was very easy for us to all leave. As I am lost in thought I overheard my dad tell my mom that he was right to tell the Alpha that we were leaving tonight and he was glad that Alpha John helped make their escape possible. 

Hearing this I look at my dad and say, “Dad, What if we told you we were going to stay and finish school?”, to which my dad says, “Honey, I knew you would make the right call, you were born to lead.”. As if he could see my emotions, he tells me “Honey, don’t worry too much we will be fine. I've been preparing for this since the attack on our Luna.”.

 Luna Jane was an amazing woman and well loved in the pack and we knew that once we found out that it was a hybrid that attacked her, we knew this was a possibility. “I have made investments and bought stocks so trust me honey we have plenty of money we have you and the team's transcripts from school and are going to enroll you in the human school near the Pack.”.

 “You all will have to be careful not to let anyone know of your kind while there, but you will be fine. We will be stopping for gas, food and potty breaks in about two hours so get some rest before we stop.”, and with that, I close my eyes and let sleep take me.

 Two hours later we stop as my dad said and that’s when we breath are first sighs of relief to be away from are old Pack lands as the girls and I head to the bathroom Matt and our dads start grabbing drinks and snacks after we all relieve ourselves and grab snacks and drinks my dad pays for the snacks and gas. When we get back to where the cars and trucks are, my dad tells us kids to hop into the SUV so we can all talk while on the road. 

When we all got back in the car, we just sat there in silence for a few minutes. Alice, who is the witch wolf hybrid sighed and said, “OK, so I guess it's up to us to come up with the name of our new pack.”. I looked at her and sighed heavily and said, “I guess so, any ideas?”. Matt looked at me and said, “Don’t look at me, I’ve never been good at names.”. I looked at him, shook my head and said, “You better hope your mate is good at names otherwise your kids are screwed lol.”. Matt glares at me when I say mate, blushes, then shyly says, “Or Kits.”.

 No sooner than the words left my mouth, I started daydreaming about my mate, do I want a mate? Would I be happy with a mate? Does the moon goddess take into account one's sexual preference? Would I be happy with my mate? I really don’t think I could be stuck with one as my mate, I like both boys and girls, why would I be happy with just one? I was brought out of my daydream when Crystal, the Fae wolf hybrid, smacked me on my arm. “Ouch!” I said. Crystal gave me a look and said, “Well sorry, but we called your name, and you didn’t answer what you were thinking about.”.

 I looked at her and said, “Oh nothing, just mates.”. She gave me a knowing smile and nodded her head. Everyone just smiled at me and said, “We are sure the Moon Goddess won't mate you with someone you won’t be happy with.”. “Well anyways back to it.” Jackie said she is the dragon Fae hybrid, “How about, The Blood Moon Eclipse pack?”.

As I sat in my seat, I let that roll around in my head. After several minutes and about six more names I finally said, “I like Blood Moon Eclipse pack!”. My dad cleared his throat and said, “It sounds like we have the name.”. We all looked from one to the other and finally said, “ It sounds like it.”, in unison. 

So, I said, “Who will be my Beta, my Gamma and my head warrior?”. Matt speaks up and says, “I call head warrior!”, to which we all start laughing. “Ok, so I guess that takes care of that.”. Matt looks at me and says, “What? I think it would be cool to have Alpha, Beta and Gamma all be females. We would be the first pack to have three women in ranked positions. You should show those Alphas and old fogies that women can lead just as well as men.”. 

My eyes went wide in shock. Did Matt really just say that? Kim speaks up next, she is the witch Fae hybrid and says “I will be the Gamma!”, to which Alice, the wolf witch, says, “I’ll be the Beta!”. Crystal says, “I’ll be the head trainer!”. Jackie shouts, “I’ll be the weapons trainer!”. “Ok.”, I say, “I guess that takes care of that.”, as we all start laughing our ass off. 

My mom turns around and says, “Well girls, sounds like this is going to be a fun pack. Matt, are you sure you are good with this?”. Matt just nods his head and says, “Yes ma’am.”. 

We stopped at a diner, about two hours later for dinner the six of us sat at one table and our parents all sat next to us at another. My mom and dad started telling the other parents what we’ve discussed in the car, and they all nodded in agreement. 

While eating dinner, my friends and I talked about our nervousness of starting at a new school in the middle of freshman year, our hopes and fears of this new place. After we ate dinner, we all got back in the vehicles and continued our journey. About three hours later we stopped for the night at a motel. 

After making it to our room I looked at my mom and dad and with a heavy sigh I said, “Are you too sure we're doing the right thing?”. My dad nods his head and says, “Honey, I know what you're thinking about, but trust me it will be fine I promise it will all work out.”.

The next morning, we grab showers and get dressed and head to the cars as my dad is looking for a place to get breakfast. I know that this is going to be a massive undertaking. Pulling out my phone I started looking for things I knew were going to need for the pack house, as I added all the items to my cart. My mom looks at me and says, “Sweetie, are you all right?”. I nodded my head to her and said, “Yes mom. I was just looking for things we were going to need for the pack house.”. 

My dad hands back a bank card and says, “That’s my daughter, just like a true Alpha, thinking about the pack first. Put whatever we need on this card. I'll tell you the address as soon as you're ready to check out so you can have it all delivered to the house.”. As I nod my head, I have to wonder how much I can spend as if reading my mind my dad says, “Don’t worry about the price, we have enough money to get what we need.”.

After we eat breakfast, I hand my dad my phone, show him what I put in my cart and tell him I need to go to the restroom. He put in the address and hit the confirm order button. When I came out of the bathroom my dad handed me back my phone saying, “It will all be shipped to the new packhouse.”.  

As we all head to the vehicles my dad turns to everyone and says, “Five more hours and will be their folks.”. Everyone nodes their heads and we take off again. Matt, Crystal, and Jackie start to talk about  the training grounds and gym of what might need to be repaired or upgraded. Matt asks, “Hey Ash, do you think we’ll need to order new targets and gym equipment?.” Ashley replies, “I’m not sure what we’ll need for the gym and training facility yet, but we can start a list just in case there is a lot to replace or upgrade.” 

After my talk with Matt, Alice and Kim and I started talking about what the packlands would look like, are there going to be trees, ponds, lakes, wildflowers. Is it going to be up in the mountains or mountains behind the packhouse with cascading waterfalls? Is there going to be rolling hills? I start to zone out again imagining what the landscape is going to look like. 

“Earth to Ash!! Hello, are you listening to us?!!” Alice says as she waves her hand in front of my face. Kim, Matt, Crystal, and Jackie all start to laugh. “Sorry, I was thinking about the lands.”. The mountains and cities roll on by as we continue to drive. “Good thing you’re not the one driving or we might be in a ditch somewhere from all your zoning out!” Kim says while everyone, including me starts to laugh. “I can’t help it, you know being in a car this long makes my mind start to wander.” I say.
