This had me thinking for a moment. Sure, I wanted him to mark me. In fact, the urge was stronger than ever now that we were talking about it. But was I truly ready? If he marked me on my neck/shoulder where I wanted him to mark me, in the spot that was visible to others, that could be a dead giveaway while I'm still Hunting. I couldn’t risk that, not yet. But if I had him mark me somewhere where it wasn't visible, then I could still be marked and still Hunt. But then later, when I want it to show, I don’t think it could be moved. This was difficult.

“Look, I still have some business to figure out with work, and having a mark on my shoulder/neck would be a dead giveaway that something wasn’t right. There isn’t a way you could move the mark to a different place once it's on there, could you?” I asked him. He chuckled.

“No, I can’t move it. Once it's on you, it stays there forever. So we have to make sure that you're ready when we do it.” He replied. “Ok, then I would like to wait… As m

Jericho remained silent for a moment but I could hear him typing on his laptop. “Perfect, I actually have a device that will be perfect for this. Are you still in Maine, love?” He asked. “Yes I am, I plan to be here for a while.” I said. “Ok good, I am getting on the next plane there, and I will call you when I arrive so we can meet up. I can’t step a foot inside The Academy, of course, but we can meet up at another location. I will contact you when I arrive.” He said, and then hung up the phone. I sighed in relief at the thought of seeing Jericho in person. It had been quite some time since I actually had seen him in person. Though we spoke on and off through the years and much more recently regarding The Academy and their bullshit, it was different than actually being together in person. I missed my friend and couldn’t wait to see him. I went into my closet, found a different black dress and tossed the one I was wearing to the floor. Once I changed I checked the mirror. I saw myse

He smiled at me, and something about the smile hit me right in the gut. I had a strange feeling that if I met with him in person I may not come out alive. There was something else in his eyes too that bothered me, and it wasn't the typical lust I always see. This was something more. I just looked deep into his eyes reaching for any hint of malice while he processed my reply. “I will text you with an address and time. See you tonight.” He said. And with that he ended the call. I felt like I had fallen into an endless abyss, like I was drowning and he was going to save me. I didn’t know what kind of fuckery that was, but I didn’t like it at all. We arrived at The Primrose and I couldn't shake the feeling that Max was still somehow watching me. That had to be crazy though. Right? I pushed the thoughts away as I went to open my car door but it was already opening. Jericho stood on the other side with his hand held out to me. I put my hand in his and his thoughts wafted through my mind

I shuddered as I set my phone down. It just seemed like I could feel him, even through a text. It was the strangest feeling I had ever felt. “Care to explain?” Jericho asked, pulling me from my eerie mindset. “Oh, fuck I’m sorry. That was super weird. So when I killed Bartholomew, remember he gave me the name of Max from the council? Well that was him.” I said. “Huh? Wait, WAIT! That was Max, from the council? Texting you? What, how?!” Jericho exclaimed. “So remember when I told you I asked Shadow about a meeting with the council? Well I asked him to give Max my regards hoping that the personal call out would urge him to agree to meet with me. Shadow said he would see what he could do, but then he never called me back. Instead, Max called me.” I explained. “Holy shit, Snow. That is insane! I have never in my lifetime of snooping through The Academy’s files, found that the council ever speaks to anyone in person, or anyone ever, really. Maybe the couple of people that report directl

“Snow.” He said, greeting me. I extended my hand and let him take it, kissing it softly. His thoughts were cool and calculated. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing sinister, he was just extremely interested in me. I intrigued him, more so than anyone else has. He was determined to figure me out. “Come in, beautiful.” He purred, and it felt like the silk from his voice traveled through my ears and wrapped itself around my mind. It had me wondering just what his enhancement was. I was sure I would find out soon enough. I walked inside the room, which was a typical suite. It had a four poster bed in the middle of the room against the back wall, a fireplace and seating on one side, a mini bar on the other, plus the walk-in closet and bathroom adjoined. The thing that struck me the most interesting were the windows. They were huge and the entire room was lined with them. The view outside was gorgeous as you could see the ocean and the town below. This resort sat up on a cliff of sorts,

Max hooked his index finger under my chin, forcing me to look him in the eyes. I could feel the slimy tendrils disguised as silk, seeping into my mind. “Max, I’m warning you, get the fuck out of my mind.” I snarled. “But doll, I love you… Can’t you feel our bond?” He said softly, and the hurt in his eyes was apparent. This felt so fucking real. The only difference is I could feel him in my mind. I swear that this was the memory, exactly how it happened. But I knew he was messing around in there, changing shit. He was not my gifted mate and this was not real. “Don’t call me doll.” I growled, and ripped my knife from its holster, jamming it into Max’s chest with extreme swiftness. He never expected it, and I watched as he bled out in front of me. “Only one man can call me doll, and it sure as hell isn't you.” I snarled, while jamming my knife deeper into his chest. I knew this wasn't real, just a memory so he wasn’t really dead. I expected him to pull us out of the memory, but he didn

  • The Hunter   Chapter 53

I picked up my phone to see that it had been 4 hours, it was almost 10:30pm. How the hell? He kept me in there for 4 hours?! Jericho was probably losing his shit, and I’m sure Damien messaged me too. But when I looked at my phone, no one had messaged me. This is strange, why would no one have tried to contact me after this long of a time?” I thought. I clicked on the message thread from Jericho on my phone, and pushed reply. ‘I’m out, I'm alive, want me to come back over and update you?’ I asked.I waited until I was already in my car and ready to head over, but he never replied. This was out of character for him. “Jarvis, call Jericho on a secure line.” I said. “Of course, ma’am. I’ve put it on the screen.” He replied. I waited for him to answer, of course he would answer, right? I was let down when it went to voicemail. I didn’t leave a voicemail, I just hung up. He could be asleep. I mean, he did fly here, and there is jet lag. I decided to quit bugging him and text Damien inste

I tried to keep my calm because there was one thing he still didn't know… The fact that I could read his thoughts. That was one thing I never revealed within that specific memory, and the one thing he would never find out. It wasn’t listed in The Academy’s documents because I told the doctor I never got an enhancement besides my eyes, thanks to Damien. I had never logged it in any files anywhere… Ever. It was the only thing that gave me a heads up on him, and would continue to give me the heads up.“I will be expecting your text.” I said, as he released his hold on me, allowing me to climb off his lap. I straightened my dress out and ran my hand through my hair where he had messed it up, then we locked eyes again. He was smiling deviously, and I just smirked, narrowing my eyes at him before turning and walking away. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was drowning when I walked away from him though. It was the strangest thing, like he wanted me to stay. Like staying was the only way

  • The Hunter   Chapter 55

I was so grateful for Damien and his patience with me while I tried to save his life. Even if he didn’t know what I was doing or why. We were lying on the bed together, I was lying in his arms in my favorite spot when he leaned down and kissed me. As the lightning rushed between us I got the strange feeling that he should mark me. I know I said I wasn’t ready yet, but every ounce of my being was pushing for it. I knew he could feel it too but he didn't want to say anything. Instead, he growled under his breath as he ripped what little piece of clothing I still had on, off of me, throwing it to the floor. The look of hunger and need in his eyes when he looked at my naked form, both made me nervous and excited at the same time. He carefully caressed my breasts while kissing me again and holding me close while our tongues worked together in unison. His soft moans fueled my fire as he ran his hands along my body. The way he sucked on my bottom lip and peppered kisses along my jawline to

“Clark, It’s Damien. I’m going to need one last favor.” I said. “Of course, Damien, what is it?” He asked. I have 2 bodies I’m going to need you to pick up. Funeral arrangements have already been specified in the document I will leave for you. As always, money is no issue and I trust that you will charge me for all of it.” He said. “Of course, sir. I can have the coroner there in a half hour.” He replied. “Thank you, Clark. Truly, thank you, my friend...” I said, before hanging up the phone. I looked at Jericho and nodded. He nodded back to me. I walked over to Max’s body and pulled Snow’s knife from Max’s chest. I walked over to Jericho while Xavier grieved over my gifted mate. “Do not feed from him, he needs to stay alive. Snow would kill us both if she ever found out that something bad happened to him. You have my will, you have everything you need. Give this to Clark when he arrives. It has the instructions I have specified. Burn this fucking place to the ground once Clark and th

And who just literally gave up her physical life for me, was gone. My thoughts were a fucking wreck. I have no idea how long I held her before I laid her on the bed, or what was left of it. That's when I noticed Max across the room. He was clearly dead, Snow’s knife protruded from his chest. I knew that was what killed him, even though I doubt he could have survived the blast either way. I looked back down at the body of the only woman I had ever truly loved and smiled through my tears. “I’m so proud of you. Giving up the ultimate sacrifice to accomplish your goals. So fucking proud.” I said, moving a piece of her hair from the blood that stained her face. I tucked it behind her ear softly. Even in death she was so fucking beautiful. My chest ached physically at her loss. Every bone in my body was in agony. Like they knew we were missing our other half. The strange thing was the bond seemed to still be in place, It was just unreachable and very very faint. I called Jericho and told

Xavier ignored us both and kept trying to find a way around the barrier. It was no use, I couldn’t even penetrate it so there was no way an enhanced Human could either. I could still feel Snow, but it was pointless trying to get inside. I sent Xavier home after a few hours. He was reluctant but I had to keep coaching Jericho down, and helping him to understand his Vampire tendencies. He was trying to take a bite out of Xavier more times than I wanted to admit… He was going to struggle with this, just like I did. Which was normal. Snow, on the other hand, was a unicorn. She barely struggled and was able to keep her composure easily. It was her powers that she struggled with and I knew this. I wanted to know what the hell Max was doing to her to cause me to not be able to feel the gifted mate bond anymore. Jericho needed sleep and even though I didn't plan to sleep, I knew I needed to, otherwise tomorrow was going to be a lot harder. It was just too hard to sleep with my gifted mate i

“Cortana, call Xavier.” I said. I knew I had just called him and he probably wasn't even there yet, but I had to try. “What?” He snarled, clearly annoyed by me. But I didn’t care. “Something happened, I can't reach Snow through our bond anymore. I can feel her life force, but I can’t feel her emotions.” I said, trying to hide the panic in my voice.I told her I wouldn’t hover, I wouldn’t bother her and let her handle things. I knew she was independent and wanted to be the savior. I knew… But I was trying not to lose my mind. Plus, Jericho couldn’t wake up alone. That would spell disaster. “I just arrived but I can't get past the front doors. There is some sort of forcefield, I don’t know. Some sort of magic here. Whatever it is, it’s preventing anyone from going in or out.” He replied. “Fuck. Ok, keep an eye on it, and if anyone comes in or out, I need to know. I’ll be there as soon as Jericho finishes his transition.” I said, and hung up the phone. I was half tempted to take Jericho

(Damien)I had a terrible feeling as I watched Snow leave my house to meet with Max. Something inside just nagged at me not to let her go. Had I known what the next 72 hours was going to bring, I would have listened. Rarely does my gut instinct send me astray. This was a fact. I started making preparations immediately after her departure. “Jericho, you still here?” I called out from the hallway. He poked his head out of his room a few doors down. “What’s up boss?” He said. “It’s time.” I replied, and I watched him stiffen and pull his head back into the doorway, coming out a second later without his equipment. He walked up to me and nodded. “I’m ready.” He said. I ushered him into my room and over to my desk while I rifled through papers until I found the will. My last will and testament. The second Snow became a Vampire I had a feeling that something terrible was going to happen to her. She just had too much power… I took Jericho aside and made him promise me that he would be my so

“I don’t want it! I don’t want you!” I snarled. “What is it about him? What the fuck is it that has you so fucking entranced?” Max snarled, releasing me from his grip. I stumbled back, getting as far away from him as I could. “Who? Who are you talking about?” I demanded. I was contemplating running, but my curiosity got the best of me. Max was pacing in the room, clearly stressed out. I knew I was trapped, it didn’t matter where I went or what I did, I was stuck in whatever hallucination Max decided to throw at me. There was no point trying to escape. Max suddenly turned towards me and his eyes were full of rage. “You could have had everything with me. You could have had more than you ever hoped for, more than you ever dreamt of. I would have kept you safe. I would have loved you, and protected you. I would have given you anything in this fucking world… All you had to do was say yes. All you had to do was fucking choose me.” He snarled. I took a step back, towards the door as he inc

We got back to the suite and Max immediately turned his gaze to me. I knew exactly what he was thinking. I snickered to myself at the smile creeping on his lips. How did I get so fucking lucky? He was such a damn catch. Way out of my league. “I know what you’re thinking, doll. But… We need food.” He said, putting his finger to my lips. “I’ve got something you can eat.” I said, with a smirk. Within seconds he had me pinned up against the wall next to the closet and smashed his lips into mine. I knew that would get him. At this rate we would never eat, or leave this room. I decided to play hard to get, switch things up a little. I snaked out of his grasp and took off running across the room. I smirked when I heard Max’s growl at my escape. I could feel his feet padding on the floor behind me. I felt like he was letting me get a head start, I knew he was much faster than I was. I turned as I got close to the bathroom just in time for Max to tumble into me, tackling me causing us to bot

He pulled away first. “No more, I have already had a hard enough time keeping my dick in my pants, let’s not make it public, doll.” He purred. I just laughed. “Ok, ok.” I said, with my hands up in defeat. “Let’s just make it through the conference, and then you can have me the rest of the entire day if you choose.” Max said. “Deal.” I replied. He grabbed my hand as we headed out of the suite and to the elevator. His thoughts were a mess of me naked, the conference, the merge. He was nervous but also more excited than he had ever been. The company was about to take off, and the shareholders would benefit from buying stocks right about now. I let my mates' thoughts calm my nerves as we headed past the front desk. “Oh dear, you look so much better this morning!” She said. I thanked her and waved, catching Max’s eye as we went outside. “What was that about?” He asked. “Oh I don’t know, something about looking like I was crying last night. I’m not sure.” I said. He chuckled. “If you wer

The elevator opened and I headed towards the end of the hall. I pushed open the doors to Max’s suite and walked inside, taking my heels off and setting them by the door. Max walked out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel and we locked eyes. “Ah, Snow. you’re back sooner than I expected.” Max purred. “And you’re a hell of a lot less clothed than I expected.” I said with a smirk, letting my eyes roam his nearly naked form. His rippling muscles cascaded down his chest and arms. His towel hung low, accentuating the deep V that was partially hidden. “I think you forget that I am the one who has won the grand prize here.” Max purred, as he sauntered towards me. I met him halfway as our lips collided, sending lightning and cool fire dancing between us. Max pulled away and leaned his forehead against mine. “I love you, Snow. I love you so fucking much.” He said. “I love you too, Max. You know I do.” I replied. He pulled away the rest of the way and looked at me. I could see the complete and
