Kaila has the biggest grin on her face.

"Who knows? Maybe you'll meet your mate at the pack meeting, girly," she told me before cleaning the table, and I was about to stand up to do some running.

"Let's see," I challenge her. "I am one hundred sure that my mate won't appear tonight," I smirked at her.

"Like I said, who knows? Mates change everything, darling," she finishes our conversation by taking the dishes into the kitchen.

I was about to go outside and call Matthew, the resto's manager, and asked him to be late at least two hours or so, but when I was about to call him, suddenly my phone vibrated, and I saw the guy's name on the screen.

"Hey, Matthew, what's up?" I asked him in a friendly tone.

"Rain, just a person I needed to talk to," Matthew's voice sounded relieved.

"Yes, boss, it's me. What's up?"

"I need a small favor, Rain."

"Uhmm, what is it, Mat? Did someone dump you again?" I teased him but ensured it wasn't below the belt since he was still my boss.

I heard him sigh before he replied. "Maggi just quit now. She called me on the phone."

"Ugh, again?" I groaned.

Recently, more female servers quit their job after they met their mates, and Maggi is the latest one who met her mate last night while serving a group of men last night, which turned out one of them was her mate. Their mates probably don't want them to work anymore.

I understand that. Male wolves are possessive. And it is better to prevent future fights, mainly because some customers are rude and inappropriate.

And the thought of Matthew calling me made me suspicious. Jinky has the morning shift, and Selena's lunch shift will end around five plus; I have to call her and ask her to cover my shift until eight.

"Do you want me to pull a double night shift, Matt?" I asked him hesitantly.

Matthew knew how badly I needed the money, and he knew I would grab it but not today; we have a mandatory pack meeting. Matthew is not a werewolf, and how will I explain it to him?

"I hate to ask, but Ravena is still new, and I don't have someone else to call," he said,

I sighed. Matthew sounded desperate.

"Please? I'll give you five extra dollars for the extra night shift," he told me.

That is what we are talking about. Matthew knew me well and offered me an extra dollar that would make my bank account happy.

"Alright, but I will be late for an hour or two. I have something important to attend to, and it needs my attention. Will it be alright?"

I heard a silent answer from Matthew for a short period.

"Fine. I'll tell Selena to cover until eight. Make sure to come on time," he said.

Matthew hung up, and I proceeded to my plan of running, letting my wolf take charge of our body. It has been months since the last time I let her out, and now she's playfully playing, yipping, and yapping to the insects she found along the way. My wolf isn't in a hurry to meet our mate like me.

We both believe that waiting and letting fate leads us to him is the best thing we can do.

Around six in the evening, I started to dress. I choose to wear a pair of black shirts and jeans. I slipped on a pair of sneakers and hopped in my car. As I pulled up in front of the wide pack house garage, I was thankful that I wasn't the last to arrive. My car broke down in the middle of the road, and I had to call one of my brother's mechanic friends to fix the car's problem. Seriously, I need to change the car, but I am out of budget for now. I had to endure more, and when I finally graduate and find a stable job, I'm getting rid of the car I inherited from my Mom. After the mechanic fixed the car, I had to drive faster than usual. Luckily, my car didn't break down again.

I walked through the mass of expensive and modern cars, following a couple heading toward the back of the house. I was envious of the vehicles I saw but smiled and said I'd someday buy one. But for now, my priority is to find a house.

The meeting venue is in the Alpha's office slash meeting room. That room is in the back of the pack house, so I went inside. The office is the size of our home, three times the size if you ask me why; it is because we are one of the biggest packs in Asia. The room can accommodate our size, especially if the meeting is mandatory.

"Rainy!" a little boy screamed as soon as he had caught sight of me.

"Is that my little  Krin Kirn?" I chuckled, lifting her off the ground.

Kirin is the little boy I used to babysit when his parents were busy during high school for extra allowance. They hire me to look at the little boy when his parents go home late from pack duties. He was one back then, and it was two years ago. Now, I am looking at three-year-old Kirin, who is too tall for his age and as cute as I remember. Werewolf children tend to grow faster than humans, especially boys.

"Hi, Rain," Mrs. Ayami greeted me.

I put Kirin back on the ground and turned to greet her in return.

"Hello, Mrs. Ayami. How are you?" I asked, smiling at her.

"I am well. Thank you, but I believe the meeting is about to start. Would you like to sit with us?" she offered.

I sat next to Kirin and looked toward the front. Seeing Mr. Ayami is the third in command, we had great front-row seats, so we weren't bothered with looking over people's heads to get the view. I was grateful for the seeing as I wasn't exactly the tallest person in the pack.

"Thank you for coming this evening. I realize this meeting was last minute, but I have an important announcement to make," the sweet voice of our Alpha Killian said.

He stood no more than ten feet before me, looking out into the crowd with the most beautiful and proud smile I'd ever seen. Nothing could be perfect. He was so... so... handsome. I want to touch him.

"Oh no! What's wrong with me?" I asked myself. "Why do I think about Killian that way? It's not right. He had a girlfriend, and I didn't deserve him.

Suddenly my wolf stirred when I smelled the most unique and intoxicating scent I had ever smelled. It was a mix of lemon and oud. The scent was too strong, and when I sniffed it, it came from the Alpha Killian.

"Mate," my wolf whispered.

"Today, I'd like to announce my wedding to the most beautiful girl I've ever met, Isabelle Cloud," he proudly said.

"That should be us! We are his mate!" my wolf screamed at me, trying to claw her way out of me.

"No! It can't be. He already loved someone else," I reasoned to her, but the scent is the evidence to make me believe that Killian is my mate.

I held to my chest, trying to stop my wolf from surfacing.

"Rainy, are you okay?" Kirin asked me, and I smiled at him.

"Y-yes baby," I lied to him but to truth is my wolf is causing me pain because I didn't want her to come out and create a commotion to this meeting.

"Rain, your eyes glowing," Kirin told me, and I turned my back on him.

I need to go. I need to-

A loud growl came out of my mouth. It was loud enough for Killian to look at me, and he found me sweating hard despite the cold weather.

I didn't want to see him. I ran back to my car and fled from the pack house.

Why? Why it has to be him?

I knew it was a possibility for it to happen but it was a bit of hope the story wouldn't go there.

My hands were trembling when I maneuvered the car out of the pack house parking lot. My wolf keeps growling at me as to why I run away instead of claiming what belongs to us. "That is our mate! Go back to him! He is ours!" I kept hearing those shouts from her, but I was shocked to even talk to her. Killian? Is Alpha Killian our mate? Why have I never thought about this? I remember Killian went abroad to study when he was sixteen and when I turned seventeen, a ripe age for female werewolves to find their mate. I didn't find mine, and I assumed that my mate was still out there and that fate would make way for us to meet. Killian studied abroad for six years and recently graduated, so he went home to take charge of the pack last year. I never attended pack meetings nor visited the pack house that whole year. I was busy trying to work and study simultaneously to see what was happening in the pack. My best friend is the only one who tells me the news about the new alpha and his beloved

The loud knock on the front door woke me up. "Daniels! Open the door!" What the heck? Who in their right mind would knock like they wanted to burst the door open the way they knock? I got it my older brother is the beta but what the hell?Annoyed, I stood up, snatched my robe, and went down to check who it was. I opened the door and was only greeted by the scent that allured me last night and felt my wolf stir again. "Mate! Mate!" she whispered, but when she probably realized what happened last night, her spirit died and curled in a ball. "You," Alpha Killian said, looking at me like I'm a goddamn piece of meat. His mouth waters and keeps on inhaling, probably my scent. "..are my mate," he continued. Killian imprisoned me in his arms and kissed me passionately. As soon as our skin touched, millions of electrifying tingles exploded in my body. Those tingles made their way to where my chest was and gently stirred my sleeping heart. Ah…it felt good. It felt like everything between

I asked Matthew for a day off, which he immediately agreed to. Killian told me that he bought me an apartment outside the pack's territory which he knew I would like. And he didn't disappoint me. The apartment is simple yet has a warm interior. The human broker told me that the apartment has all the access to necessities and even the college I am attending. She told me that it is already fully paid and she's asking me when I will move so that she can arrange everything. In the other's eyes, this is all wrong. Killian is mated Alpha, and he will be a father soon. My pack mates had already assumed that Isabelle was his mate and that they would get married soon. And in their eyes, I will be the thorn between Killian and Isabelle if they will find out about me. I am the wrong one despite being the right one for him. I don't care what they are going to say, but all I know, I am his rightful mate and that he chose Isabelle out of obligation because if she didn't get pregnant in the first

"I'd like to invite you to our baby shower, baby," Killian said while kissing my forehead. We are in my bed, cooped around for the rest of the day.I looked at him with furrowed brows and tried to confirm what he said. "Are you sure? I mean, that is your baby shower with Isabelle. Do you know how I will feel?" I asked him. "Yes. It's a mandatory party. Father told me that the whole pack must be there. I don't have any choice," he added before touching my face. The tingles that traveled from our skin temporarily made me forget about the baby shower and my protest. My wolf and I love the tingles we share because it connects us to Killian."Can I not go?" I asked him. "No, you can't, baby. I'm sorry," he said, starting to kiss me again. Ugh, I don't like it when he does this. He knew I couldn't refuse his request without considering how I would feel. "Alright. I'll be there. When is it happening?" I asked him. "The night after tomorrow. So I expect you to come, and I could tour y

Killian and I have established a relationship, although it's just between us. I can't help but be envious of the couple standing on the makeshift stage, happy and excited while trying to pop a gender-neutral color balloon. They look so perfect. It was like they were royal highnesses, the king and queen. The pack members cheer on them despite being divided in their guesses."Aren't they so cute, Rain?" Kaila asked me, smiling."No, they are not. I would rather say we are lovely if I were that woman," my wolf answered. Thankfully, Kaila can't hear, or she will wonder why my wolf said that."Yes, they are," I replied, faking my smile."Isabelle is a kind woman, Rain. She will be a good luna for us," Kaila added. My wolf didn't like what she heard, and she growled, protesting."Did you two talk?" I asked her, pushing my wolf to the corner of my mind."No. Never," I answered."This woman is disrespecting us, Rain! Tear her to shred and burn her! Show her her place! How dare she praises th

The food is about to serve. Why are you leaving? I can feel my wolf's burning stare on Isabelle. The hatred is apparent, but she is off-limits since she is with Killian. With forest-green eyes that match the color of her maternity dress, Isabelle is beautiful. No wonder why Killian has fallen for her. "Of course, our mate and us didn't have the chance to meet earlier. If he did meet us first, Isabelle would have been out of t

My fingers were trembling as I tried to insert the key into the keyhole. '"Damn it! Insert!" I scream in frustration. My heart is aching, and it makes me want to lash out. My wolf's pained howls aren't helping too.I know both of us were hurting, but what else could we do? Our mate is with someone else. I thought my wolf and I could carry on his terms, but damn, it hurts. The reality is freaking hurt.As soon I managed to insert the key and start the car, I drove away from the pack house and doubted if I would see it the way I did before, back when I hadn't met my mate. This situation is frustrating, painfully frustrating. I am incomplete, and my heart is yearning for Killian. I want him. My wolf wants his wolf. We want him so much... I wiped my tears as they started to blur my sight while driving. I can't do anything to claim what is mine. Killian...Killian.I'm still holding on because I don't want to let him go. He is mine. • The Howl of Rejection   Chapter 10: Mine

According to Zander, Killian left with Jasmine two days ago after their baby's gender reveal party. He told me that Killian probably decided to let Isabelle breathe since her birth was around the corner. Unlike humans, werewolf pregnancy usually takes six months. Isabelle is due three weeks from now. I should feel excited about her giving birth because Killian will finally be mine. The terms he gave me were that after his girlfriend's delivery, he would break up with her and throw her away from the pack. I believed him, but something behind my back was nagging me to stop assuming. It tells me that Killain's eye expresses so much love to Isabelle that breaking up with her will be impossible. I witnessed that too, but my wolf would always say that Killian would never betray us and our trust. It would have been a long time ago if he wanted to reject us. But what if-"You seem pretty distracted," my best friend said when she noticed me staring somewhere while with her. "I'm sorry. What

I looked at Erix and then at the white and gold ring with a diamond and some bluish precious stones circling the largest diamond. “Uhm, Erix?” I asked him, confused. “We already became mates, a werewolf wedding, plus we already had four children. I think it’s too late for this,” I added. “It’s never been too late for us to get married, baby,” Erix said as he held my left hand. “It’s my dream to marry a woman I love like my Dad did to Mom.”I smiled at him. I growled so loud. It was the only way for the black wolf to distract what he was doing with my Rain. The wolf stopped from biting her. Rain collapsed on the ground, panting heavily. Pregnant she-wolves were prohibited from shifting since the baby might crash. But why on earth was Rain in her wolf form despite being pregnant? The answer lies in the bastard, who had a cocky smirk, even in his wolf form. Suddenly, ten wolves tried to tackle me on the ground. I was too careless; my whole attention was with Rain, and I forgot I was in a battleground. The wolves pinned me down, ensuring I could see what was happening with Rain. Rain looked at me, still panting. She was forced to stand up but failed miserably. There was another wolf behind her who was covered in blood, and I doubt if it's still breathing. Rain's wolf huffed, trying to crawl to me, but the Black wolf stepped on her back. Rain whispered as I growled at the black wolf, warning him not to dare. The black wolf looked at

But what enraged me more was the man who had her was none other than Diesel Saavedra, Zander's best friend. "Starting from your parent's death to Rain's pregnancy, it was all planned," Jordan told me as he was driving. "The Blood Pack was just a distraction that Diesel had created and secretly pulled the string without anyone noticing it," he added. "Is there any particular reason why that bastard decided to ruin mine and Rain's life?" I said, trying to calm down. "For power," he said. "And for Rain. He has been wanting her since she was just a little girl; hence, he impregnated her because he wanted Rain to be his mate, and getting her pregnant through threat was just a bonus.""Threatening her?""Yes, like he'll kill you and your pack, which we know

"Where did you come from, and who was chasing you?" the older man asked. "We're from Greyhound Pack," Alice replied. Suddenly, a loud growl erupted from the man who shifted recently. "That bastard's pack!?" he growled. "Calm down, Jean. We need to know how they came here and stuff. Take them to the pack for interrogation," the older man said. He was probably the Alpha.
