“Sir, it has been three days, and no matter how hard we try to convince Miss Alise to head over to the main house, she wouldn’t listen.”

“Hm…she sure is stubborn like her mother,” the man laughed over the phone. The man coughs multiple times while Joshua purses his lips. “I’ll be there. It’s been years since I’ve last seen her. I should at least go see my daughter.”

“Sir, are you alright?”

“I’m fine, Joshua. Just a cough. I’m not going to die just like that. And didn’t I tell you to stop calling me, sir? I’ve raised you like my son.”

“No buts. I promised your father that I’ll take care of you.”
