2008, 23:00

“I wonder if Papa is going to be home today!” The little girl exclaimed as she looked at the man to her right, who wore a full black suit and an earpiece in his right ear.

“Your father had told us he’d be waiting for you back at home,” answered the man as he tried to calm the little girl down.

“Jorgen,” called the other man sitting on the opposite side of the man named Jorgen. His eyes flashed with concern and alertness when Jorgen got the instructions. Someone was after them.

“Young miss, please wear your seatbelt. We’ll be speeding the car a bit,” instructed Jorgen, which the little girl followed.

Due to the rain, the driver couldn’t speed up any faster since it would be dangerous. But that didn’t matter because they were getting trailed. And everyone except for the little girl knew they were getting chased.

“Requesting reinforcements, location private skyway,” Jorgen spoke through the earpiece.

“Copy. Reinforcements coming in 10 minutes.”

“10 minutes is too long. Make it 5.”

“We’ll do our best, sir.”

The little girl looked up at Jorgen, smiling at him. Deep inside, Jorgen wished and hoped nothing would happen to them tonight. After all, this little girl is very precious. She came from an influential family who might and can change the world. The most precious Heir of the Ambroise family.

The car continued to speed up, only when the driver lost his focus on the road as the car behind them rammed into them. The driver lost the steering wheel for a second, which caused them to almost crash.

The driver managed to get back on the road and kept his focus back up. Only when he felt something wrong. The driver stepped on the brakes, but the car wasn’t slowing down.

“Jorgen, the breaks aren’t working. They were tampered with,” the driver swore.

“Keep moving,” instructed Jorgen, who turned his head to look at the car behind them.

The driver did as instructed, but out of nowhere, a car was driving on the same lame as them but rushing towards them. The driver instinctively moved the wheel, which caused the vehicle to swerve and flip.

The two cars chasing them stopped right in front of the flipped car, and two men walked out of the vehicle. They didn’t care if they were getting drenched by the rain. They had to make sure the little girl was dead.

“Target annihilated.”

“What do you mean by annihilated? You haven’t checked on the girl. Don’t tell me you’re soft towards the enemy because the target is a little girl?”

“I’m not!” The man with a scar on his left cheek yelled at his accomplice. “Just listen. I’m in charge of this.”

“Hmph, I don’t care. All I care about is getting the money. See you never.”

The two men walked back to their cars and drove off. But just as mentioned, the little girl wasn’t dead. The voice of the little girl could be heard calling for Jorgen. Whose bodies were wrapped around the little girl.

“Jorgen?” Called the little girl as she tried to push him away. But with this small body of hers, she couldn’t move him. The little girl had to loosen herself, and she did it somehow. Then she realized they were flipped but was still confused about what had happened.

No one was responding to her. Not Jorgen or the driver.

For a five-year-old girl, she was intelligent. Because she had been trained and taught when this kind of situation would happen. Never did she think it was actually going to happen.

The little girl stopped calling for help and pushed herself up. Fortunately, this small body of hers helped her crawl out of the flipped car. She managed to get through the car windows, but at what cost?

Her knees were scraped, and her palms were bleeding from the glass shards. The little girl did not know what to say. She was speechless, uncertain, and afraid of what to do.

What could a five-year-old girl do? She did not own any electronics or know how to use one. And even if she finds one, it is useless. She couldn’t find one.

The little girl touched her forehead and looked at her hand, covered in red. She didn’t know if it was because of the lights from the car, but her hands were covered in red. She again touched her forehead only to have a tight sensation feeling in her chest.

She was alone. The little girl then realized she was alone. Jorgen wasn’t responding. Her surroundings weren’t clear due to the rain, and it was night. There were barely any cars on the road they took.

“Jorgen?” The little girl called one last time. “Hey, answer me.”

No response.

It was dark and cold, which scared any children her age. Her hands trembled, and her voice wouldn’t come out of her mouth. No one was here.

“Why am I seeing red? Why is it red? Why? Why?!” screamed the little girl before entering the darkness.

That night served as the greatest loss of the Ambroise family as they almost lost their one and only heir.
