Chapter 7

As Liam took a closer look, he gasped in shock. The street was filled with cars, and beside each car stood two to three men in suits, standing tall!

All of them were dressed in suits and ties, looking like they were there for a job interview. Liam and his men were so startled that their hands instinctively moved toward their guns.

Just then…

“Welcome, Lord Rivers!” They all spoke in unison, their voices booming in perfect harmony.

Dumbfounded, Liam turned to look at Ethan with his men, wondering if those people were there to greet Ethan.

Their eyes widened with disbelief, and they failed to wrap their head around the situation. Who exactly was Ethan to be able to summon so many people in that chaotic place?

Ethan, however, merely glanced at them calmly. “The South Regent promised he wouldn’t cross the border. Is he going back on his word?”

A young man in a red suit quickly stepped forward, dropping to his knee and lowering his head respectfully. “You’ve misunderstood, Lord Rivers. My master has never crossed the border. We came only because we heard that you were coming. My master sent us to keep things quiet here so that nothing would disturb your peace.”

Upon learning that the men were the South Regent’s men, Liam and the others were floored.

They had assumed that those men were Ethan’s subordinates, but the truth was beyond their imagination. They were the South Regent’s men, and since the South Regent did not dare to cross the border, he sent his men over instead.

The South Regent was a fearsome warlord with powerful forces under his command. He had even fought against several small neighboring countries, yet he was too scared to cross the border because of Ethan.

What did Ethan do to the South Regent to make the latter afraid of him?

More importantly, it was so quiet last night because of Ethan’s arrival! Ethan’s presence alone brought a peaceful night to the place!

“That’s... His presence is more effective than an entire army!”

It was unbelievable. Liam would never have believed such a thing if he had not seen it with his own eyes.

Did someone like that need to embezzle or accept bribes? If Ethan wanted anything, he could just reach out and take it!

Liam trembled as a chill ran down his spine. If Ethan stopped managing Riveria, Riveria would be in serious trouble.

The man in the suit got up, walked over to a Ferrari, and opened the door. “Lord Rivers, please get in. We’ll take you wherever you want to go.”

Ethan did not refuse the offer to get into the car.

Once inside, he said, “Sky Peak.”

As soon as the car started, all the other men in suits returned to their cars and followed behind.

The convoy of luxury cars, dozens in total, followed in a grand procession, leaving the people on the street astonished. Many quickly pulled out their phones to record the scene.

It took Liam a while to snap out of it before he hurriedly followed in his car.

Soon, Ethan arrived at Sky Peak. His arrival alone put a stop to the usual troublemakers on the mountain. All the weapons were put away, and they stood by the roadside with their heads down, guarding the path up the mountain.

At the peak, a lone figure stood amidst the cold frost. Even with the river frozen and the sky covered in clouds, the sun shone upon Sky Peak.

Ethan stood alone before a tombstone. In the distance behind him, everyone stood with their heads bowed, not daring to say a word. Liam approached and found the atmosphere off. It was too quiet.

He endured the cold and whispered to the man in the red suit, “Why is there a tombstone here?”
