“Are you sure he can help us?” Kevin asked as we stepped out of the car and walked towards the building. “You know, these places seem suspicious.”

I raised my head, my eyes staring at Kevin, who seemed hesitant. “Are you scared?” I chuckled, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “You deal with crimes and dangerous situations every day; this should be a piece of cake for you.” Kevin gave me a small smile, his confidence growing as we approached the entrance.

“That’s not my point. I just don’t want us to get in over our heads,” he replied, his voice tinged with uncertainty. “Do you trust that guy we’re meeting inside?” he asked, causing me to pause and ponder his question. Despite my own reservations, I nodded confidently and replied, “I trust him enough to know that he is our only hope now.”

“No, I don’t, but now he is my only hope,” I admitted, trying to reassure Kevin as we stepped inside the dimly lit building.
