Natalie

Natalie lay in bed, exhausted, hurt, failed. It was not the pain of getting shot that was eating at her, but it was the pain that she had failed. Yes, she had failed in escaping Jacobs. God knows what the next day will bring in her life, was not her only thought.

Natalie was wondering what would have happened if he had not shot her leg or if it had not “just grazed,” as Jacobs was putting it. What if the bullet had been aimed at her heart? It had been better, because Natalie was a woman but she was being treated worse than cattle these past days. First, Theodore kidnapped her and kept her like a bird in a cage.

Now Jacobs, whipping her to do what he pleased.

“We are living in 21st century, for heaven’s sake.” She muttered loudly, but who was there to listen? No one.

She turned on her side and winced.

She had to had dinner and then her meds. Jacobs could forcefully make her eat, but he could do nothing to make her sleep. Sleep was miles away from Natalie’s eyes.
