A couple of weeks had passed, and Penelope remained true to her word. She and Michael visited Bloodmoon every weekend, each time promising to return the next. Amani insisted that Michael’s mother accept the money she offered, but she declined. Her refusal became even more poignant when Amani visited a nearby market in the Rogue Lands. The sight that greeted her was a harsh slap of reality—the rogues were indeed suffering from poverty and famine.
