Hours passed, I didn’t realise when the morning crept in. Adeline’s condition was stable but she hadn’t gained her consciousness and it was my biggest concern. I was desperate to see those beautiful blue eyes and hear her melodious voice.

“Oh! My baby.” Susan, who entered in the ward, gasped closing her mouth. She was crying and I was sure that she hadn’t blinked her lashes throughout the night.

I walked up to her and gathered her in my arms. She cried more resting her face on my chest, “Our Adeline is fine, Susan. The doctors said she’s very fortunate to survive and we should be thankful to the God who saved her for us.’ I said to her.

She wiped her tears and glanced at her daughter with sad eyes.

“My Adeline, why she has to suffer every time?” She sobbed.

“She’s a fighter, Susan. She’ll be fine very soon. I promise you I’ll take care of her and I’ll make sure that she’d not fall in danger again.” I promised her.

“I trust you, son.” She smiled faintly and we sat down, she
