JANE'S POV
— 2 years later —
“We successfully bought Mrs. Baker’s share. Right now, we are one of Moore Estate’s major shareholders…” Miranda, my secretary, announced. Hearing that, a sly smile erupted from my lips, satisfied that everything was going according to plan.
Well, well. What a good news to start this month. I wasn’t wrong when I asked my siblings to go back to Texas weeks before the Moore Estate’s anniversary. As one of the major shareholders, we would be invited, to be sure.
“I can’t believe that Mrs. Baker would sell her husband’s share right after he passed. Poor woman. She probably doesn’t know how the business world works…” Kaihly, Kelly’s twin, remarked, her head resting on my shoulder.
“It’s just perfect, alright? I mean, so sad that he died but duh? We got the shares! Jane finally has access to that company!” Kelly responded, clapping her hands for me.
I did not comment. I had been waiting for this. I made sure that I would get access to that family's assets once I came back. After 2 years of struggling and waiting, this was finally about to happen. The event would happen two days from now. I was dying to see what had changed and what was about to change.
Gray Moore. My ex-husband. I could not wait to see you.
My secretary had prepared everything for us. Unfortunately, Kaihly would not be able to come, as Kelly and she were identical. Kelly was known by the Moores as Kelsey Robins, Grey’s eldest sister’s best friend, and they did not have any idea that we were all sisters.
That’s why she looked so familiar the first time I saw her when I woke up from the coma. She was one of the girls I hated when Gray and I were still married. Aside from that whore Hazel, I had known her as someone who wanted Gray, too. Their only difference was Hazel was not pretending and Kelly hated my husband so much.
Little did I know, flirting with Gray was included in their plans all along. For what? To make me leave that shitty marriage.
My memories were slowly coming back to me, but there was still a lot that I still hadn’t remembered. Kelly kept telling me stories about what I had gone through in that family, though.
I stayed with them in California for two years. They did everything they could to make me fully recover. The first months after waking up were pure hell for me. I had to undergo therapy to be able to walk again. There were times that I almost killed myself when I felt very hopeless. I thought I would become paralyzed forever.
I was lucky enough to have them support me. And now that I have recovered, I will not let those struggles be put to waste. I would make the Moores pay for every damage they caused.
I could not wait to see them.

GRAY’S POV
“Son, has your sister arrived? Your aunt has been asking me about her. The party would start any time soon…” my mother, who had been tailing me for quite some time now inquired. Fixing my tie, I took a deep breath and stared at her through the mirror.
“Aerah is an adult, Mom. Stop worrying about her. She promised to attend on time, as far as I can remember,” I responded, my face emotionless. My mother let out an almost inaudible sigh. She sat on a single couch behind her, her shoulders dropping in disappointment.
“Goodness! I can’t believe your sister! Since when did she lose her class? I had been hearing news about her from my friends! From my friends, Gray! Can you imagine how ashamed I was when they started talking about how they saw her doing nauseating stuff with men?” she ranted, the veins on her forehead visible. I could only shake my head in response.
The news wasn’t new to me. Perhaps to my mom, but not to anyone who knew Aerah. She had been doing this since college. She kept fooling around as if she wasn’t a mature adult. She was far from being one if I were to judge.
“She’s stressing me out! She’s becoming like your shitty ex-wife. A whore!”
Hearing her mention that woman made me halt. Bitterness and anger started mixing within me. Fixing my coat, I cleared my throat and faced my mother.
“Let’s not talk about people from the past, Mom.”
My ex-wife, Jane, disappeared from our lives for almost three years now. She hadn’t signed our divorce papers, so she was still my wife. Legally. So much has changed in our lives since she left. My mother, who hated her so much assumed that she was already dead. There was a report that she was hit by a car when I kicked her out of the house. Even though the police didn’t find a body, my mom still identified her as dead.
Thinking that she was gone somehow pierced something inside my chest. This was probably guilt for everything my family had done to her. I was not saying I was innocent, but there was a part of me that pitied what happened to her and her deceased father.
Still, I didn’t regret supporting my mother’s decision to kick her out of the house. Her disappearance didn’t erase the fact that she was with a couple of men while being married to me. I didn’t regret divorcing her, either. I never loved her, anyway.

“Mr. Moore, your speech is ready for later. Also, I have checked all the things that we need to take care of. Everything’s ready. The food and the venue are all perfect. What else do you need me to do, Sir?” My secretary, Hazel, announced as we walked down the hallway. We just arrived at the hotel where the event would be held.
Yes, Hazel. The woman I fucked the same day my wife left the house. I was not connected to her in any way aside from being my secretary, but I knew the woman still had feelings for me.
Jane was wrong when she told Hazel that my family would not like her due to her social status, as my mother was too fond of her. She liked Hazel because she was good at her job. She started liking her for me when she saw how Hazel could contribute success for our company.
I was gonna fire her when my wife left, but she begged not to as she was the breadwinner of their family. That was the only reason why I let her stay in the Moore Estates.
“Just make sure that our guests are treated well. Accommodate them with respect. One more thing, Hazel. We have a VIP guest, right? Have you called them?”
“Is this about Ms. Ambers? Her secretary contacted me minutes ago. They are on their way here, Sir. I told our men to escort them once they arrived.”
“Everything is settled, then.”
Ms. Ambers was our new major shareholder. She bought Mr. Baker’s share when it was first offered to her. She also donated millions to charity under our company’s name, giving us all the credits. My mother made her our VIP guest when she knew that.
Time seemed to run so fast, as the event started shortly after we arrived. I was one of the most important people here, but I instructed the coordinator to give the most highlights to our guests. I delivered my speech shortly—I didn’t even spend two minutes on the stage. My contribution to the company’s success wouldn’t even be half compared to my father's, so I didn’t have much to talk about. I was just the one who handled it when he passed.
“My brother! So sorry for arriving so late, okay? Geez, I missed your speech!”
My mother and I were in the middle of conversing when a familiar high-pitched voice registered in my ears. I turned my gaze to my side—only to see my sister, Aerah, walking toward us with poise. She was wearing a pink bodycon dress, her hair curled. She looked decent in my eyes until I saw a red mark on her neck. I clenched my jaw.
This woman never acted like a mature adult.
“Aerah! Where have you been? Do you think this is a joke? And what’s that disgusting on your neck? Come here!” my mother whispered, her tone irritated. Aerah sat beside me, rolling her eyes as if she was done hearing our mother’s sermons.
“Oh come on, Mom! Will you please save that for later? We should enjoy the event, alright?”
“Stop talking back! Where have you been young woman—”
“Alright, alright! The night is starting to get more fun. But before we dive deeper, we would like to introduce our only special guest for this event. Today, we have the privilege to be in the presence of the newest member of Moore Estates. Are you guys excited to know who she is?”
Both of them were interrupted when the host in front spoke. I turned my gaze to the stage, giving my full attention. The lights were turned off, and the surroundings started to get dark. The spotlight was focused on the host, having all of us looked at her.
“Is she about to introduce Ms. Ambers? Oh, I have been waiting for this…” my mom muttered excitedly, forgetting my sister’s sudden appearance.
“Who the heck is Ms. Ambers?” Aerah remarked, but no one paid attention to her. Surely, that would be Serena Ambers. None of us had seen her face. Her secretary was always the one who would show up for her, saying that her boss had an important matter to attend to. Tonight would reveal who she was. Even I couldn’t help but wait for her. She had always been a mystery ever since she joined our company.
“This woman has helped with the company’s development and contributed innovations that added to the company’s success. She only joined the Moore Estates recently, yet her outstanding performance, ideas, and vision would surely benefit not just her, but also the people who worked for her. Please welcome, Ms. Serena Ambers!”
A woman, wearing a red strapless dress came out of the stage. Her black wavy hair reached underneath her shoulders, almost covering her chest. Her familiar-looking siren eyes eyed the crowd, only stopping when they spotted mine.
My heartbeat raced, and a sudden coldness started consuming me. My mouth parted open, a tingling sensation could be felt within my chest. Whispers started echoing all over the venue, and some of the guests started looking at me. I could hear my mother’s gasp beside me, followed by my sister’s curses. I stiffened in my seat, my muscles suddenly felt so rigid. That woman...
“T-That’s… Jane.”
GRAY’S POV“A pleasant evening, everyone. It is an honor to stand in front of you today. To be honest, I didn’t expect this company to be this grand. I am a little pressured…”The guests who were unfamiliar with Jane laughed and cheered for her, while the others who knew my deceased wife, remained clueless about what was happening. My muscles were tensed, and my eyes could not leave the woman’s presence.“What kind of nonsense is this?! Why is that woman on the stage? Is this a joke? Mom! Do something about this!”Aerah was the first to react. Her sudden burst out took the attention of the guests that were previously drawn by Jane. Aerah’s reaction broke the ice that stiffened me in my seat. Damn, Aerah. This was not the time to be a fucking brat!“Aerah, sit down!” I ordered, my voice almost a whisper. She looked at me incredulously, her mouth slightly parted. She stood up, scoffing, making her the center of attention. Even Jane, who looked at her like she was a scandalous stranger
SERENA’S POV“Oh, your son’s here, Madame Geraldine. Since you’re acting like nothing’s happening here, do you want me to initiate and tell him about the accusations you’re throwing at me?” I offered, blatantly displaying a fake smile. The old woman’s eyes squinted, her lips turning flat. I turned my gaze on Gray, and just like how he looked at me the moment I showed myself on stage, his eyes were filled with confusion and mystery.“You’re so quiet… I don’t like it.”His silence reminded me of the days when I badly wanted to spend time with him, but I would always get nothing. Hearing that, Gray cleared his throat, swallowing.“I deeply apologize for all the troubles happening right now, Ms. Ambers—”“Don’t be. I am already disappointed. Given how wonderful this party looked, I never expected such treatment like this. If you want to redeem yourself, I suggest to stop trying tonight. Everything’s still fresh—”“Oh, shut up! Don’t even try to act so high and mighty, Jane Williams. We al
SERENA’S POV“Where’s Kelly now? Did she send us an update?” I tried to remain calm as I sat on the couch. I was still wearing the dress that I wore at the party, and even though it had already been an hour since I came home, I felt like I did not have the time to change. I was too preoccupied with what Kelly said. What does she mean that we have a problem? Did Aerah know about her already? It had only been a night, dammit!“Calm down, Jane. You know Kelly’s a good liar, right? She had been doing this for years. And besides, that girl Aerah trusted her so much that she won’t bother suspecting her…” Kaihly, Kelly’s twin stated, watching me silently panicked. She sat comfortably in front of me, her arm crossing against her chest. She knew what was happening. She even saw how Aerah made a scene at that party. I did not have an idea that my sister hacked the surveillance camera in that hotel to watch me get embarrassed by that filthy family.“She said that we have a problem, Kaihly. Wha
SERENA’S POV “Aerah Celine…” Gray called in a warning tone. The corner of my lips turned up, satisfied when I saw Aerah’s glare at her younger brother. Gray then cleared his throat as he fixed his position on his seat.“Well, all of you already know what this meeting is all about. Yesterday marked the 75th anniversary of Moore Estates, and unfortunately, a few misunderstandings happened that ruined the party…” Gray started. Almost everybody eyed me, then shifted their gazes on Aerah, who never looked away from me since I entered this room.“A complaint was sent to my office against the new member of the board, which is Ms. Serena Ambers…”I knew it. This was what Kelly told me last night. I was sure, Aerah and Geraldine were the ones who plotted this. And if I was judging right, Gray agreed with what they were planning, too.“With all due respect, Mr. Moore. I don’t understand. A complaint was raised against Ms. Ambers? Wasn’t she the one who was embarrassed by your sister last nigh
GRAY’S POV“What?” I muttered under my breath. Aerah laughed sarcastically. “You think I’m a fool, my younger brother? Why do you keep defending that woman, by the way? She resembles your wife almost perfectly. Is that the reason why?” With my forehead knotted, my brow almost met as I shot my sister dagger looks. “You are out of your mind, Aerah. Will you please just let me run this company properly? Even if Ms. Ambers is Jane or not, we cannot deny that she really put fortune and even helped the company’s growth! We can’t just kick her out!” “Ah, so you’ll let that bitch wander around our place as if she didn’t have a past with us? With you? My dear brother, are you really becoming a fool?” Oh, damn. Can she not understand me? She seemed to forget how the board reacted when Ms. Ambers said she would pull out her shares. With her influence, our investors might pull out their shares, too. “We can investigate about Ms. Ambers to know who she really is. I-I am sure your family is p
KELLY'S POV All of us turned our eyes towards Gray's secretary. I was confident that we had hidden Jane's identity excellently, but hearing Hazel say that she found something about my sister made my heart drum bizarrely. “You found out something? Didn't we just talk about investigating her this afternoon? How can you find something about her that fast?”Aerah questioned, raising her brow. What the hell does she know about my sister? “Didn't I tell you to get out of our family matters, Ms. Brown? In which part of what I told you was unclear?”Gray eyed his secretary with pure judgment. I knew where was this going. I had heard that Geraldine Moore favored this girl so much that even if Gray was the one who was talking, that old hag would defend this woman. “Let her, son. At least we already have information about that strange woman...”As I was expected. Geraldine would favor this girl with her life.“I already started knowing who she was even before I suggested it. I have known Ms.
SERENA’S POV“She will fucking stay here?! Oh, come on, Gray! How come you’d let that whore work here?! I cannot believe you!”My arms were crossed against my chest as I listened to the noise inside my ex-husband’s office. Miranda was beside me as we waited for Aerah to come out so we could come inside.“She hates you so bad, Ms. Ambers…” Miranda commented, her mouth slightly parted. I let out a chuckle and shook my head. Gray called for a meeting this morning to announce my stay in the Moore Estates. Since Mr. Baker, the former vice president of the company was already dead and his shares were now successfully transferred to me, the board had decided for me to take over his position, too.Aerah wasn’t part of the board members, but news flocked really fast and when she heard about my position in the company, her mind went haywire and now she was in Gray’s office, disturbing his dearest brother.“Can’t you understand that that woman’s dangerous?! Who knows if she’s planning something
SERENA’S POV“Ms. Moore… What brought you here?” I asked, turning to see her. Aerah’s arms were crossed against her chest as she rolled her eyes at me.“You dare to ask me that? Of course, my family owns this company! What kind of question is that Ms. Ambers?” she replied, emphasizing my surname to mock. I knew where this was going. Aerah used to bully me before, but because I respected Gray and his family a lot, I never talked back nor did something that would make them hate me more. For sure, she would do the same thing that she did years ago. She was just unfortunate because I came back here prepared for that.“You work here now? As what? As…”My eyes marveled all over her torso, only stopping when my eyes marked the ID she wore. A grin erupted from my list.“An intern? I thought you owned this company. How come you belonged to the employees who had the lowest pay? Does the company even pay you?” I could remember Aerah not being interested in business before, that was why Gray wa
SERENA’S POV— Jane’s Memory —“Oh gosh, Charles. Why are you even telling me this? Gray is always busy and he would never have the time to screw other girls. He couldn’t even go home to our house because of his hectic schedule…”I found it ridiculous to think that Gray would have all the time in his world to have another woman aside from me. Since his father died, he barely went home because of the workload that his father left him in the company. I understood him, and I sometimes pitied him because all I saw was a man who was tired of dealing with so much stuff.I couldn’t do that. I would die first if my father died and left all the stress that he was enduring to me. He didn’t train me for that, unlike Gray who had been doing things in their company since he got married to me.“Oh goodness, Jane. Why are you even asking for my help if you won’t believe me? You said to spy on your husband, right? I am just telling you what I know,” Charles defended, drinking the alcohol he ordered.
GRAY’S POVSeeing that bastard again for the first time in years woke up something within me that I could not control. Well, I had no intentions of controlling it, anyway. Whatever I did to him, I knew he fucking deserved it.I called my mother last night to ask what the hell does that man doing in our company, and I would like to fucking choke myself to death when I heard my mother telling me to just fucking move on. Can she hear herself? She couldn’t just tell me to fucking do that as if that was something so easy to fucking do!That man ruined everything that I was cherishing! It was funny how I wanted to kill him every time we would be in the same place, but I couldn’t even move a finger now that we were sitting at the same table with the woman who looked exactly like the one that we both liked back then. Deja vu, huh? How fucking cruel. The only thing that made me feel good while sitting one seat away from him was the fact that I was the reason why his face got destroyed. I want
SERENA’S POVLucia was still sick and I still hadn’t moved on about the kiss. I should be acting brave and bold whenever I see Gray, but because of what he did and how I reacted to it, I always felt the need to flee whenever we would bump into each other in the Moore Estates. The memory I remembered was still fresh in my mind, and I still had no idea who the man named Charles was. I hadn’t told Kelly about him, too, as I was afraid that they would ask for more details regarding the day that I remembered something again. They always did that to know the things that triggered my memory. I was not ready to lie and conceal the fact that I liked the kiss that Gray and I shared. Fuck me for that.Ah! If I only knew that it would happen, I would have stayed at home and ignored the fact that I was the vice president of the company so I at least needed to show up even just for an hour.“Isn’t that the man who made you fall to the ground, Ms. Ambers? What the hell happened to his face? Is he ok
HAZEL’S POVDamn, that was fucking tough. Even though I had no intention of saving Charles’ ass before an employee passed by the hallway, I still had to help him fix himself before anyone could see us. It was my better judgment, and Geraldine would kick my ass off if I wouldn’t do it. “I don’t know what the hell are you thinking about coming back here. What the hell is wrong with you? Do you want Gray to kill your ass? You never listen…” I lectured as I guided him toward the fire exit. We couldn’t be seen by anyone while his face had so much blood, so we had to take this way to not embarrass himself.Charles was the only son of one of the Moores’ closest family friends. Gray wasn’t alive yet when Charles’ family had a connection with Gray’s father, so he was so hard to get rid of even if we already made so much effort.“Oh, I didn’t expect to see you here. I thought the bastard already fired you for beating up his so-called woman. Why are you here?” he asked, smirking as if his face
HAZEL’S POV Damn that man! Why did he have to come back? Why did he have to show up now that we are suspecting that Jane is alive? Damn him… he was making it hard for all of us. His timing was all wrong. “I am here now Mrs. Moore. Are you sure I am now allowed to enter the Moore Estates? Your son might kick me out again. He wouldn’t think twice to embarrass me in front of those people…” I stated over the phone, looking at the tall building where I used to work at for almost a decade now. Gray and I had never been on good terms ever since Serena came, so I was not sure if I was even allowed to show myself to him after what I did to Serena. I took a deep breath as I waited for the old woman’s response. She was not really old, but she was acting like one. She was acting like she would die anytime soon so that her children would favor her all the time. Cunning, right? “Oh, you don’t have to worry about that, Hazel. I have talked to my son about you representing me as one of the major
SERENA’S POVI shouldn’t be like that. How can I like the kiss of someone who ruined my life? It shouldn’t be that way. I found myself leaving the building, hailing a cab because I had no plans on going back while my face looked like a fucking mess. I didn’t want to show my face to our driver, too. I just didn’t want to be seen by anyone. I felt so embarrassed because of the emotions that were currently living in my chest right now. What the hell is wrong with me? What the fuck is going on?I didn’t go home like I originally planned. My mom and my siblings were there, and I would have some explaining to do if they saw how smudged my lips were.I checked in in an unfamiliar hotel. This was the first hotel that the cab passed by, and I was lucky enough that this wasn’t owned by the Moores. Their properties were scattered all over Texas, so it wouldn’t be impossible if they owned the establishment, too.Lucky for me because they didn’t.I stood in front of the mirror, removing my makeup
SERENA’S POVI rolled my eyes dramatically, acting irritated, when in fact, his actions were confusing and kind of enjoyable at the same time. Is he jealous? Does he know that stranger?“Who gave you the right to forbid me to talk to someone? You only own this company, Mr. Moore. You don’t own me or anyone that works with you,” I responded, getting rid of his hands off my arm. He should start realizing by now who he wasted. He should start thinking that he would not be able to get rid of the idea of me in his mind.I knew how much I could affect him… no matter how hard he tried to show that he didn’t give a damn.“I am not saying that I own you, Serena. I am telling you this because that man couldn’t be trusted. You should stay away from him. This is for your own good—”“How do you know what’s best for me? You were not even that good before yet you still slid into my inboxes and flirted with me and all. You don’t get the right to judge who’s good for me when you’re not even better…”A
SERENA’S POV“Miranda, how’s Lucia doing? She’s still sick?” I asked as we walked down the hallway, both of us catching our breaths. How couldn’t we? We were both late and I never wanted to have that in my record. I valued punctuality so much that even if Gray’s opinion about me didn’t matter anymore, I knew I still had to be here on time.“She said she’s still sick right now, Ms. Ambers. She’s currently staying in her own house with her grandchildren. I heard Mr. Moore told her to do so…”It had been two days since Lucia didn’t show up at work due to flu. It was fine, as long as she could rest and spend time with her family. We could clean the office on our own, anyway. “Pay someone to send her groceries and toys for her grandchildren,” I added, worry could be detected on my tone. It was not new to me to send groceries or even financial help to people I wasn’t close with, as long as I knew that they needed it.I knew Lucia wouldn’t accept it if it came from me. I always offered her
GRAY’S POVI watched my mom get assisted by the nurse I hired for her in silence. She just got here a few seconds ago, and the shock on her face when she saw me interrogating my mom just pissed me off. This wasn’t the first time that I saw my mother being alone in a room. Her doctor advised her that she should always be with someone wherever she went because she might get a heart attack anytime. Seeing her alone for the fucking nth time while she was shouting so hard at the person she was talking to on the phone was something I didn’t expect to witness today. Why was she shouting, anyway? If I hadn’t interrupted her, I guessed she wouldn’t know that I was already inside the room. That I was already listening to her private conversation.“Who was the person you were talking to, Mom? You seem so mad. You know it’s not good for your health. You might have a heart attack again…”I promised my father to take care of the family, but I could not just watch them 24/7. I wondered if this had b
