Chapter Six.
Diana's POV. "Please tell me the truth." He begged me, and his eyes were filled with a lot of emotions. My hands were still placed on my chest due to the way he barged into my office. I never intended to let him know the truth about his child. He wasn't there for me when I was pregnant, and he wasn't there for me when I was crying in the labor room. He left me alone to deal with things myself; he cannot just appear one day and claim his child. The only way I can avoid that was to keep it as a secret for him, and letting him not to find out the truth. "Stop being delusional. Sophia isn't your child, and you shouldn't bring such a sensitive matter up anymore." I corrected him, and he nodded. The facial expression suddenly went blank, just like it had always been. "Who is the father of the child then? You said you didn't cheat on me. Who is the father of the child? Your child should be around five years old, if I'm not wrong." He further questioned leaving my mouth opened in awe. "Wait! Don't tell me you are doing some silly investigation right behind my back. The last time I checked, I didn't answer your question yesterday night." I placed my hand on my waist, demanding an explanation from him. The fact he didn't give me a response means he had been doing a lot of investigation right behind me, which was really wrong. "You should stop imagining things, Ryan." I walked back to my seat and then sat down, working on some things I was doing before he barged in. He was still in the room, as he was a little bit disappointed. Was he hoping to hear that Sophia was his daughter? "Thank you for yesterday also. I really appreciate it." I was trying to make sure things wouldn't feel any more awkward. "It seems like your husband didn't care about you at all. You should be careful next time, because no one might be there for you when you are in danger." He walked out of my office before I could get to question him about what he meant by that. Wait! Was that advice? Or something else? What did he mean by saying he didn't care about me? Was it that obvious already? Why does Richardson keep ruining everything? ***** I arrived home earlier than yesterday. My daughter ran into my arms to give me a hug. Her nanny was right at her back. "How are you doing, my love?" I squatted down to her level and then rubbed her hair. "I am doing great, mom!" She answered. I watched as Richardson walked down the stairs with his laptop right in his hands. Our eyes met just for a few seconds while he looked back at whatever he was doing on his laptop. He sat on a chair in the sitting room, ignoring all the other things that were going on right there. "You should go and sleep! Mommy will come and cuddle you after taking her bath." I grinned so hard. Her nanny helped her back into her room. "What do you think you are doing?" I walked to his front, but I didn't get any reaction or response from him. It felt like I was talking to a ghost. "I am talking to you, Richardson." My voice went a little bit higher. "You were talking to me? I didn't know." He dropped his laptop right by his side and then crossed his leg while his whole attention was on me. "Cat got your tongue?" He broke the silence that was in the room. "No! Why are you making the fact that we are not on good terms obvious? One might get to realize that this was a contract marriage all along." I complained with my right hand on my forehead out of frustration. "Why do you say so? Is anyone suspecting? Most people don't know about the fact that we are married; talk more about the fact that it was a fake marriage." He said it calmly. We got married five years ago; no one got to know since it was a contract marriage. Only a few people got to discover the truth about it, and they kept their mouths shut. "We can put an end to the contract now if you want. What do you feel?" I snickered. He then shot me daggers. "You know how much you will get to pay once you breach the contract." He had to remind me of the damage f*e, and that was a very huge amount of money. "You need to stay for probably three months more. After I'm done with whatever I want to do, You can get to leave." He assured me. What was he planning to do? What did he need me for except for the project? "Can we get to do something that will convince Ryan that you really care about me?" I requested, but he stood up and walked into his study, leaving my request unanswered. I walked back to my daughter's room to cuddle her, just like I had promised. ****** *The Next Morning* I knocked on Richardson's door and realized there was no response from him. I knocked again, and it was still the same thing. I opened it immediately and saw that he was not on his bed. It looked as if most of the things in the room had been evacuated. I tried calling his number, but it wasn't going through. Where the hell did he go? I walked out of the room in frustration and saw Nanny Susan as I walked down the stairs. "Has he gone to work already? I can't find him in his room." I questioned her, and she let out a soft chuckle. "Didn't he tell you that he would be going on a three-month business trip? He left very early this morning." She informed me. "Three-month trip?" I shouted so loudly with my mouth wide open in awe.Chapter SevenRyan's POV.Diana dropped some reports on my desk. As she turned her back, wanting to walk away, my eyes found their way to her ass. It swung as she walked out of the room."What do you think you are doing?" I brought myself back to reality. Why should I be looking at her that way? It's funny how I haven't had sex with any lady since I got divorced from her. It was quite hard, but I didn't even know why I was restraining myself. My personal investigator walked in as she was going out. He greeted her with his head bowed as she walked out of my office. Jesper walked close to my desk and greeted me also. His name was Jesper. "Did you find anything else?" I questioned him immediately; he was positioned at my front. "No. I didn't get to find anything out." He answered. I twirled my chair around, thinking about what she told me yesterday."You should stop finding out more about her. You should just try your best to keep her safe." I instructed him. "Alright sir. Her husban
Chapter Eight.Diana's POV.I watched as Ryan ran amongst the crowd that was standing at the front of the burning building. It looked like he had found something, but he got disappointed.I was sitting right inside the bus, with my body covered in a huge blanket."You should have some water." One of the nurses who were there handed over a bottle of water to me. I gulped down half of the water in the bottle without a single breath. "Are you sure you are okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?" The nurse asked, and I just smiled, which indicated I was okay. My daughter, who was crying, walked up to me with her nanny at her back. "I thought you were going to die." She said it amid tears. I dropped the bottle of water in my hands and pulled her closer to me, using my thumb to clean her tears."Your mother is safe now. Nothing can happen to your mother. You should stop crying." I rubbed her tears, but she still wouldn't stop crying.I pulled her into my arms and kept on rubbing her bac
Chapter Nine.Diana's POV."I'm Elsie. It's nice to meet you." She brought out her hand for a handshake. I was still shocked by the fact that we had the same type of tattoo in the same spot. That was as creepy as hell!"It's okay if you don't want to come into contact with a stranger." She brought back her hand in, making me feel guilty. I was just lost and confused. She shouldn't see me as someone who didn't want to reply her or something like that."No! No, I'm Diana. It's nice to meet you. I'm also sorry for bumping into you." I apologized with a fake smile on my face."I have to attend to something now. We might get to see each other later." She walked past me.How come we even smell similar? Woah! I got goosebumps just by thinking about it alone. What kind of coincidence was that?I walked back to my office and started working on the things that I was supposed to work on. After a few minutes, I heard a knock right on my door and then revealed Linda, the lady who attended to me t
Chapter Ten.Diana's POV *Few Days After**The Hotel Launching Day*It has been up to five days since Ryan and I talked like normal human beings. Ever since I punctured his car, which was not my fault. He was the one who started it first.I actually thought he was going to devour me that morning after he came back to work, but he didn't. He just shouted and couldn't do anything else. It was not like he was going to hit me with something. The highest he could do to me was to punish me with a lot of work, and he didn't do that."Ma'am, you wanted to confirm if all the guests were invited." One of the hotel workers came to inform me. "Yeah yeah!" He led the way, and I made sure to confirm through the hotel system. I rub my palm together after seeing that was okay "What about the art pieces? Where are they? They should have arrived here already." I rubbed my hand against my forehead, waiting for the art pieces to arrive. "The art pieces arrived already, ma'am." One of the workers cam
Chapter Eleven.Diana's POV. I paced around the room while I tried to think straight."How did the file get to disappear from this place?" I hit my head in annoyance. How could I even bring myself to tell them that the files were missing. I continued to bite my fingers out of nervousness. I heard the creaking sound of the door which interrupted me from my thoughts. I wondered who was coming inside. It was Ryan, and he looked so furious. His hands were right inside his pocket, and that was one of the way to figure out if he was angry."I'm sorry. I can't find the documents. I saved them." He didn't even let me complete my sentence before he interrupted me."Do you think I care about that? Why do you always mess things up? You always do that every time. Do you know how much this will cost me to fix?" He raised his voice at me, making me cover my face out of fear.He turned his back at me wanting to control his anger. "Someone is doing this intentionally. You have known me for a few
Chapter Twelve.Ryan's POV Elsie walked in, placing the file that Diana was supposed to submit this morning. "This is the file Elsie was supposed to submit." She dropped it on my desk, and then turned her back wanting to walk away."What about Elsie? Why can't she walk in herself? I haven't seen her this morning either." I questioned her, and she chuckled nervously. I didn't say anything funny, did I?"She hasn't arrived this morning. I tried calling her number, but she didn't pick up either. The last time we saw each other was last night." She answered me.That was so odd. The fact that the two of them were close but didn't bother to check up on her when she ran into that room looking for the documents she was supposed to give to me."Okay then! You can leave."She left the room after I had instructed her to go. I picked up my phone and dialed her number, but it was switched off this time around. Was she avoiding me or something? I didn't even know if she had arrived yesterday. I tr
Chapter 13.Diana's POV."Table manners while eating. You could choke and die." I warned her sternly making Ryan chuckle. He knew what I was doing, that was the reason why he chuckled.I wondered why he just couldn't shut up his mouth for once. My daughter is very smart, and she might get to know who her real father was. I knew she was confused, and it was time for her to start asking a lot of questions that I was not ready to answer. That was the only thing that could keep her shut for now.Ryan left the dining table after he had caused me a lot of trouble this night. I was still pained by what he did to me yesterday. I didn't even want to think about it anymore. He was the one who made me trek so far, and I have injuries on my toes now."You forgot this." I heard his voice as he walked up the stairs. Hr walked back to the dining table, with my bags right in his hNds. "Oh! Where did you get that from?""I went to the hotel, and someone asked about you. I collected your bag from one
Chapter 14.Diana's POV."Are you sure I was summoned? Do you know the reason why I am being summoned? How many people are in there? Are you going inside with me?" I questioned Linda as she led me to the conference room, but she wasn't replying me.With the look of things, I could easily tell that things weren't going to be good. "Why are you not saying anything?" She stopped walking making my body to collide into hers, and then I shifted back immediately. "Why did you stop? I didn't mean to let me body hit yours." I apologized to her. She looked at me with the always stern look on her face, while I shrugged my arm."How about you just go in, and then try to figure out everything out yourself. You should stop bothering me with a lot of questions." She complained in frustration.I didn't bother to ask her any questions anymore. We reached the front of the room the shareholders meeting was happening."You should go in now." She instructed me. I took in a huge sigh summoning all the co
