Trip

Chapter Six.

Diana's POV.

"Please tell me the truth." He begged me, and his eyes were filled with a lot of emotions.

My hands were still placed on my chest due to the way he barged into my office.

I never intended to let him know the truth about his child. He wasn't there for me when I was pregnant, and he wasn't there for me when I was crying in the labor room.

He left me alone to deal with things myself; he cannot just appear one day and claim his child. The only way I can avoid that was to keep it as a secret for him, and letting him not to find out the truth.

"Stop being delusional. Sophia isn't your child, and you shouldn't bring such a sensitive matter up anymore." I corrected him, and he nodded.

The facial expression suddenly went blank, just like it had always been.

"Who is the father of the child then? You said you didn't cheat on me. Who is the father of the child? Your child should be around five years old, if I'm not wrong." He further questioned leaving my mouth opened in awe.

"Wait! Don't tell me you are doing some silly investigation right behind my back. The last time I checked, I didn't answer your question yesterday night." I placed my hand on my waist, demanding an explanation from him.

The fact he didn't give me a response means he had been doing a lot of investigation right behind me, which was really wrong.

"You should stop imagining things, Ryan." I walked back to my seat and then sat down, working on some things I was doing before he barged in.

He was still in the room, as he was a little bit disappointed. Was he hoping to hear that Sophia was his daughter?

"Thank you for yesterday also. I really appreciate it." I was trying to make sure things wouldn't feel any more awkward.

"It seems like your husband didn't care about you at all. You should be careful next time, because no one might be there for you when you are in danger." He walked out of my office before I could get to question him about what he meant by that.

Wait! Was that advice? Or something else? What did he mean by saying he didn't care about me? Was it that obvious already? Why does Richardson keep ruining everything?

I arrived home earlier than yesterday. My daughter ran into my arms to give me a hug.

Her nanny was right at her back.

"How are you doing, my love?" I squatted down to her level and then rubbed her hair.

"I am doing great, mom!" She answered.

I watched as Richardson walked down the stairs with his laptop right in his hands. Our eyes met just for a few seconds while he looked back at whatever he was doing on his laptop.

He sat on a chair in the sitting room, ignoring all the other things that were going on right there.

"You should go and sleep! Mommy will come and cuddle you after taking her bath." I grinned so hard.

Her nanny helped her back into her room.

"What do you think you are doing?" I walked to his front, but I didn't get any reaction or response from him. It felt like I was talking to a ghost.

"I am talking to you, Richardson." My voice went a little bit higher.

"You were talking to me? I didn't know." He dropped his laptop right by his side and then crossed his leg while his whole attention was on me.

"Cat got your tongue?" He broke the silence that was in the room.

"No! Why are you making the fact that we are not on good terms obvious? One might get to realize that this was a contract marriage all along." I complained with my right hand on my forehead out of frustration.

"Why do you say so? Is anyone suspecting? Most people don't know about the fact that we are married; talk more about the fact that it was a fake marriage." He said it calmly.

We got married five years ago; no one got to know since it was a contract marriage. Only a few people got to discover the truth about it, and they kept their mouths shut.

"We can put an end to the contract now if you want. What do you feel?" I snickered. He then shot me daggers.

"You know how much you will get to pay once you breach the contract." He had to remind me of the damage f*e, and that was a very huge amount of money.

"You need to stay for probably three months more. After I'm done with whatever I want to do, You can get to leave." He assured me.

What was he planning to do? What did he need me for except for the project?

"Can we get to do something that will convince Ryan that you really care about me?" I requested, but he stood up and walked into his study, leaving my request unanswered.

I walked back to my daughter's room to cuddle her, just like I had promised.

*The Next Morning*

I knocked on Richardson's door and realized there was no response from him. I knocked again, and it was still the same thing.

I opened it immediately and saw that he was not on his bed. It looked as if most of the things in the room had been evacuated. I tried calling his number, but it wasn't going through.

Where the hell did he go? I walked out of the room in frustration and saw Nanny Susan as I walked down the stairs.

"Has he gone to work already? I can't find him in his room." I questioned her, and she let out a soft chuckle.

"Didn't he tell you that he would be going on a three-month business trip? He left very early this morning." She informed

me.

"Three-month trip?" I shouted so loudly with my mouth wide open in awe.
