Chapter Seven
Ryan's POV. Diana dropped some reports on my desk. As she turned her back, wanting to walk away, my eyes found their way to her ass. It swung as she walked out of the room. "What do you think you are doing?" I brought myself back to reality. Why should I be looking at her that way? It's funny how I haven't had sex with any lady since I got divorced from her. It was quite hard, but I didn't even know why I was restraining myself. My personal investigator walked in as she was going out. He greeted her with his head bowed as she walked out of my office. Jesper walked close to my desk and greeted me also. His name was Jesper. "Did you find anything else?" I questioned him immediately; he was positioned at my front. "No. I didn't get to find anything out." He answered. I twirled my chair around, thinking about what she told me yesterday. "You should stop finding out more about her. You should just try your best to keep her safe." I instructed him. "Alright sir. Her husband also went on a three-month trip. He departed this morning." He added, making me smirk. It was funny how he didn't even bother to let me know about it, knowing fully well that our company was working on something together. The fact that he was gone now would expose Diana to more danger. "You know what to do." I dismissed him. ******* I gulped down one cup of the drink that was right in front of me. I felt like drinking this night. It had been long I've drank. My phone kept on ringing, but I didn't want to pick it up. This would be the fourth time it would be ringing. "What if it was an important call?" My subconscious reminded me. I managed to leave the bar section and go to where my phone was. It turned out that it was Jesper who was calling. Why would he be calling at a time like this? "What is it?" I shouted in frustration. "Miss Diana is in danger." He informed me, making me drop the cup filled with wine on the nearest stand. "What do you mean by that? Why are you calling me? Shouldn't you help her out or something?" "No! That isn't the case here. Her house is on fire, and she is the only one left inside." "Why can't they save her? They should..." "No one could enter anymore. She might get to die at this rate." He interrupted me before I could complete my statement. I grabbed my car keys and stormed out of the room. My hands were literally shaking. I might hate her as fuck, but there was no way I would leave her to die. "What do you think you can do? Not even the firefighters could get to walk in and save her." My subconscious questioned me. I drove to the location that was sent to me by Jesper. I could see the smoke in the sky from a distance. My feet stepped on the accelerator, making the car move way faster. "Why is he driving so rough?" A girl questioned as I almost hit some people. I reached where the incident was happening in no time. A lot of people were gathered right at the front of the house, including some reporters. How come they were this fast? The firefighters were doing their work as well. I rushed down from the car and saw Jesper running towards me. "Make sure you stop the reporters from publishing any news." I instructed him, while I hastened my steps to the front of the building. "What do you think you are trying to do? I can't allow you to go in there." Jesper stood at my front, not wanting me to enter the house that was burning. Some other people wanted to stop me. "Maybe you should have done better work then, and I wouldn't go in. You should have made sure she was safe." I scolded him. "If you go in, there is a huge chance of you dying." One of the firefighters warned. I looked back at him and scoffed. "You should risk your life to protect people. That is your work." "You might need this." He gave her a cloth that was soaked in water. I collected it from him aggressively. I pushed Jesper off from my front and then entered the house they didn't want me to enter right there. I managed to enter the burning house. "Diana!" I shouted immediately as I got into the house, using the cloth to cover my nose. "I am right here!" I heard her screaming. I rushed to where I heard her voice, and she was struggling to survive. "I need to save my child." She was crying so hard. "Your child is safe; everyone has been evacuated except you." I tried assuring her. She was coughing so hard that the fumes must have affected her badly. I just needed to go to the other side to have her in my arms, but there were a lot of wooden doors that were obstructing me from getting in touch with her. I held the wet cloth in my hands and tried using it to move the door to one side. The fire burned my skin, but I still managed to pull it off. "What are you doing here?" She said this while coughing. She just came to realize that I was the one who had come to save her. "This is not the time to ask questions. We need to get out of here first." I made it clear to her. I was not ready to answer her questions. "Use this." I gave her a wet cloth she could use to cover her nose. She was really weak already, and it was evident. I carried her in a bridal style while I rushed her out of the house. I was sweating profusely, and she was too. The fire kept on raining, but we both managed to pull through. I fell to the ground after I came out, and I heard the people who were around applauding. What were they all clapping for? "You made it out." Jesper rushed to where I was. The ambulance nurses who were around carried her away from me and took her to the bus. I looked around and then saw someone in a face cap amongst the crowd. That might be the person who started the fire! The killer would still be around here!Chapter Eight.Diana's POV.I watched as Ryan ran amongst the crowd that was standing at the front of the burning building. It looked like he had found something, but he got disappointed.I was sitting right inside the bus, with my body covered in a huge blanket."You should have some water." One of the nurses who were there handed over a bottle of water to me. I gulped down half of the water in the bottle without a single breath. "Are you sure you are okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?" The nurse asked, and I just smiled, which indicated I was okay. My daughter, who was crying, walked up to me with her nanny at her back. "I thought you were going to die." She said it amid tears. I dropped the bottle of water in my hands and pulled her closer to me, using my thumb to clean her tears."Your mother is safe now. Nothing can happen to your mother. You should stop crying." I rubbed her tears, but she still wouldn't stop crying.I pulled her into my arms and kept on rubbing her bac
Chapter Nine.Diana's POV."I'm Elsie. It's nice to meet you." She brought out her hand for a handshake. I was still shocked by the fact that we had the same type of tattoo in the same spot. That was as creepy as hell!"It's okay if you don't want to come into contact with a stranger." She brought back her hand in, making me feel guilty. I was just lost and confused. She shouldn't see me as someone who didn't want to reply her or something like that."No! No, I'm Diana. It's nice to meet you. I'm also sorry for bumping into you." I apologized with a fake smile on my face."I have to attend to something now. We might get to see each other later." She walked past me.How come we even smell similar? Woah! I got goosebumps just by thinking about it alone. What kind of coincidence was that?I walked back to my office and started working on the things that I was supposed to work on. After a few minutes, I heard a knock right on my door and then revealed Linda, the lady who attended to me t
Chapter Ten.Diana's POV *Few Days After**The Hotel Launching Day*It has been up to five days since Ryan and I talked like normal human beings. Ever since I punctured his car, which was not my fault. He was the one who started it first.I actually thought he was going to devour me that morning after he came back to work, but he didn't. He just shouted and couldn't do anything else. It was not like he was going to hit me with something. The highest he could do to me was to punish me with a lot of work, and he didn't do that."Ma'am, you wanted to confirm if all the guests were invited." One of the hotel workers came to inform me. "Yeah yeah!" He led the way, and I made sure to confirm through the hotel system. I rub my palm together after seeing that was okay "What about the art pieces? Where are they? They should have arrived here already." I rubbed my hand against my forehead, waiting for the art pieces to arrive. "The art pieces arrived already, ma'am." One of the workers cam
Chapter Eleven.Diana's POV. I paced around the room while I tried to think straight."How did the file get to disappear from this place?" I hit my head in annoyance. How could I even bring myself to tell them that the files were missing. I continued to bite my fingers out of nervousness. I heard the creaking sound of the door which interrupted me from my thoughts. I wondered who was coming inside. It was Ryan, and he looked so furious. His hands were right inside his pocket, and that was one of the way to figure out if he was angry."I'm sorry. I can't find the documents. I saved them." He didn't even let me complete my sentence before he interrupted me."Do you think I care about that? Why do you always mess things up? You always do that every time. Do you know how much this will cost me to fix?" He raised his voice at me, making me cover my face out of fear.He turned his back at me wanting to control his anger. "Someone is doing this intentionally. You have known me for a few
Chapter Twelve.Ryan's POV Elsie walked in, placing the file that Diana was supposed to submit this morning. "This is the file Elsie was supposed to submit." She dropped it on my desk, and then turned her back wanting to walk away."What about Elsie? Why can't she walk in herself? I haven't seen her this morning either." I questioned her, and she chuckled nervously. I didn't say anything funny, did I?"She hasn't arrived this morning. I tried calling her number, but she didn't pick up either. The last time we saw each other was last night." She answered me.That was so odd. The fact that the two of them were close but didn't bother to check up on her when she ran into that room looking for the documents she was supposed to give to me."Okay then! You can leave."She left the room after I had instructed her to go. I picked up my phone and dialed her number, but it was switched off this time around. Was she avoiding me or something? I didn't even know if she had arrived yesterday. I tr
Chapter 13.Diana's POV."Table manners while eating. You could choke and die." I warned her sternly making Ryan chuckle. He knew what I was doing, that was the reason why he chuckled.I wondered why he just couldn't shut up his mouth for once. My daughter is very smart, and she might get to know who her real father was. I knew she was confused, and it was time for her to start asking a lot of questions that I was not ready to answer. That was the only thing that could keep her shut for now.Ryan left the dining table after he had caused me a lot of trouble this night. I was still pained by what he did to me yesterday. I didn't even want to think about it anymore. He was the one who made me trek so far, and I have injuries on my toes now."You forgot this." I heard his voice as he walked up the stairs. Hr walked back to the dining table, with my bags right in his hNds. "Oh! Where did you get that from?""I went to the hotel, and someone asked about you. I collected your bag from one
Chapter 14.Diana's POV."Are you sure I was summoned? Do you know the reason why I am being summoned? How many people are in there? Are you going inside with me?" I questioned Linda as she led me to the conference room, but she wasn't replying me.With the look of things, I could easily tell that things weren't going to be good. "Why are you not saying anything?" She stopped walking making my body to collide into hers, and then I shifted back immediately. "Why did you stop? I didn't mean to let me body hit yours." I apologized to her. She looked at me with the always stern look on her face, while I shrugged my arm."How about you just go in, and then try to figure out everything out yourself. You should stop bothering me with a lot of questions." She complained in frustration.I didn't bother to ask her any questions anymore. We reached the front of the room the shareholders meeting was happening."You should go in now." She instructed me. I took in a huge sigh summoning all the co
Chapter 15.Diana's POV.I paced around my office while I thought of a way for me to get to the root of all these problems. Where will I even start from in order for me to be able to catch the killer?"Are you just going to keep pacing around? You need to leave here and do something. Do you think just moving around will help you find the person who planned all of this?" Elsie questioned me while she scoffed."Oh! Please. I am finding a way for me to catch the person who planned all of this. When do you start interfering with my personal problems?" I turned back at her."We all heard about what happened right in the shareholder meeting, and they have you three days for you to find the person who did this." Elsie added."This must be what the person wants." I muttered under her breath, but it seemed like she heard what I just said."Who are you talking about here?" She questioned looking at me right in my eyes."I am talking about the person who planned all of this? The person must be t
