Daughter

Chapter Five.

Ryan's POV.

"You shouldn't be with him anymore. You want to steal my chance of being with him again. I should have killed you when I had the chance to do that. I am coming back for you, and I will make sure you regret your decisions." That was the text message the unknown number sent to her.

I got a text similar to this; I guess they must have been the same person as well. The person who sent the text didn't want us to be together by any means.

It was the same person who made us to be like this today. It was the same person who made up broke up.

I deleted the text. I didn't want her to be worried over a text like that. She should focus more on the project instead of being worried over some empty threats.

I would try my best to protect her.

"Have you forgotten you are no longer married to her? You also do not have any right to protect her." My subconscious reminded me.

"What are you doing with my phone?" A soft, croaked voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked over the phone that was in my hand, and it turned out she was awake.

How come I didn't notice when she woke up?

"I saw it on the floor, and I picked it up after I realized it was yours.." I lied.

I walked to the bed stand and then dropped the phone right on it. Furthermore, I could feel her eyes following me as I did that.

"Your husband should be here anytime soon. I should get going." I informed her, wanting to walk out of the room.

"Thank you very much for today." She interrupted me.

"It's nothing. I just did a normal thing someone was supposed to do." I answered her without even looking back, and I walked out of the room.

On my way to the elevator, Richardson came out of the elevator. Our eyes maintained eye contact as he walked up to me.

"Thank you very much for bringing her here." He appreciated.

"You came really late."

" It took you about 2 hours to arrive here after I called you. Do you even care about her at all?" My eyes squinted while I questioned him. He let out a soft chuckle, like I had said anything funny.

"If I don't care about her, what do you want to do then? I was busy with something else, and that was the reason why I came this late." He answered with no emotion in his face or voice.

One might think they were in a fake relationship with the way he was acting right now.

"You should not act beyond your limit. You are just a boss to her right now; just because you brought her to the hospital does not give you any right to question me that way." He warned with an obvious fake smile while he patted my shoulder and walked out of me.

That's true! Why was I overreacting? What right do I have to question him about his behavior towards his wife? I took in a deep sigh. He didn't even know his wife was receiving death threats.

I wondered why she got married to him even knowing how that he didn't give a fuck about her.

The Next Day.

I twirled my chair around the room, waiting for my private investigator to enter the room. I told him to give me reports today.

I heard a knock right on my door, and I guess that should be him.

He greeted me before he walked up to my front.

"What did you find out?" I dropped my phone on my desk waiting for him to state all what he found out.

Immediately after I left the hospital yesterday. I had call him to help me find out some things.

"I couldn't get it to find out the exact location of where the text was sent from, but I am very sure it was from this city." He passed across the information, which made my heart skip for a second.

If the person is already in this town already, It is way more dangerous, as she could be harmed at any time.

"You should make sure to protect Diana from any danger. Watch her from afar, and make sure she is safe." That was my only approach.

"Why are you doing all of these? She is already married. You should just tell her she is getting death threats, and" He couldn't dare complete his sentence after I shot him daggers.

"I am sorry." He apologized to me, bowing his head. He should be careful of whatever he says.

"Should I protect her daughter also? What if the person comes for her daughter instead?" He questioned me, making me look up at him again. I was confused this time around.

"A daughter? What are you saying?"

"I thought you knew about the fact that she had a daughter. She should be around 5 years old now." He answered me.

Five years old? That was the exact time I left her. There are a lot of unanswered questions in my mind right now. I managed to stand up from my seat while I stormed out of my office.

I stormed into Diana's office, and she jumped out of her seat in fear with her eyes wide open. Furthermore, I didn't mean to scare her.

"What are you doing here?" Her hand was on her chest.

"Do you have a daughter?" I went straight to the point, and she then rolled her eyes like it was something irrelevant.

"Yes, I do. Is there any problem?"

"Is it my child? Your daughter's age is exactly the same as when we got divorced." I waited for her response, as it was taking too long for her to reply to me.

"Please tell me the truth." I begged. There was a lot of emotions plastered on my face right now.
