Chapter Five.
Ryan's POV. "You shouldn't be with him anymore. You want to steal my chance of being with him again. I should have killed you when I had the chance to do that. I am coming back for you, and I will make sure you regret your decisions." That was the text message the unknown number sent to her. I got a text similar to this; I guess they must have been the same person as well. The person who sent the text didn't want us to be together by any means. It was the same person who made us to be like this today. It was the same person who made up broke up. I deleted the text. I didn't want her to be worried over a text like that. She should focus more on the project instead of being worried over some empty threats. I would try my best to protect her. "Have you forgotten you are no longer married to her? You also do not have any right to protect her." My subconscious reminded me. "What are you doing with my phone?" A soft, croaked voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked over the phone that was in my hand, and it turned out she was awake. How come I didn't notice when she woke up? "I saw it on the floor, and I picked it up after I realized it was yours.." I lied. I walked to the bed stand and then dropped the phone right on it. Furthermore, I could feel her eyes following me as I did that. "Your husband should be here anytime soon. I should get going." I informed her, wanting to walk out of the room. "Thank you very much for today." She interrupted me. "It's nothing. I just did a normal thing someone was supposed to do." I answered her without even looking back, and I walked out of the room. On my way to the elevator, Richardson came out of the elevator. Our eyes maintained eye contact as he walked up to me. "Thank you very much for bringing her here." He appreciated. "You came really late." " It took you about 2 hours to arrive here after I called you. Do you even care about her at all?" My eyes squinted while I questioned him. He let out a soft chuckle, like I had said anything funny. "If I don't care about her, what do you want to do then? I was busy with something else, and that was the reason why I came this late." He answered with no emotion in his face or voice. One might think they were in a fake relationship with the way he was acting right now. "You should not act beyond your limit. You are just a boss to her right now; just because you brought her to the hospital does not give you any right to question me that way." He warned with an obvious fake smile while he patted my shoulder and walked out of me. That's true! Why was I overreacting? What right do I have to question him about his behavior towards his wife? I took in a deep sigh. He didn't even know his wife was receiving death threats. I wondered why she got married to him even knowing how that he didn't give a fuck about her. ****** The Next Day. I twirled my chair around the room, waiting for my private investigator to enter the room. I told him to give me reports today. I heard a knock right on my door, and I guess that should be him. He greeted me before he walked up to my front. "What did you find out?" I dropped my phone on my desk waiting for him to state all what he found out. Immediately after I left the hospital yesterday. I had call him to help me find out some things. "I couldn't get it to find out the exact location of where the text was sent from, but I am very sure it was from this city." He passed across the information, which made my heart skip for a second. If the person is already in this town already, It is way more dangerous, as she could be harmed at any time. "You should make sure to protect Diana from any danger. Watch her from afar, and make sure she is safe." That was my only approach. "Why are you doing all of these? She is already married. You should just tell her she is getting death threats, and" He couldn't dare complete his sentence after I shot him daggers. "I am sorry." He apologized to me, bowing his head. He should be careful of whatever he says. "Should I protect her daughter also? What if the person comes for her daughter instead?" He questioned me, making me look up at him again. I was confused this time around. "A daughter? What are you saying?" "I thought you knew about the fact that she had a daughter. She should be around 5 years old now." He answered me. Five years old? That was the exact time I left her. There are a lot of unanswered questions in my mind right now. I managed to stand up from my seat while I stormed out of my office. I stormed into Diana's office, and she jumped out of her seat in fear with her eyes wide open. Furthermore, I didn't mean to scare her. "What are you doing here?" Her hand was on her chest. "Do you have a daughter?" I went straight to the point, and she then rolled her eyes like it was something irrelevant. "Yes, I do. Is there any problem?" "Is it my child? Your daughter's age is exactly the same as when we got divorced." I waited for her response, as it was taking too long for her to reply to me. "Please tell me the truth." I begged. There was a lot of emotions plastered on my face right now.Chapter Six.Diana's POV."Please tell me the truth." He begged me, and his eyes were filled with a lot of emotions. My hands were still placed on my chest due to the way he barged into my office.I never intended to let him know the truth about his child. He wasn't there for me when I was pregnant, and he wasn't there for me when I was crying in the labor room.He left me alone to deal with things myself; he cannot just appear one day and claim his child. The only way I can avoid that was to keep it as a secret for him, and letting him not to find out the truth. "Stop being delusional. Sophia isn't your child, and you shouldn't bring such a sensitive matter up anymore." I corrected him, and he nodded. The facial expression suddenly went blank, just like it had always been."Who is the father of the child then? You said you didn't cheat on me. Who is the father of the child? Your child should be around five years old, if I'm not wrong." He further questioned leaving my mouth opened i
Chapter SevenRyan's POV.Diana dropped some reports on my desk. As she turned her back, wanting to walk away, my eyes found their way to her ass. It swung as she walked out of the room."What do you think you are doing?" I brought myself back to reality. Why should I be looking at her that way? It's funny how I haven't had sex with any lady since I got divorced from her. It was quite hard, but I didn't even know why I was restraining myself. My personal investigator walked in as she was going out. He greeted her with his head bowed as she walked out of my office. Jesper walked close to my desk and greeted me also. His name was Jesper. "Did you find anything else?" I questioned him immediately; he was positioned at my front. "No. I didn't get to find anything out." He answered. I twirled my chair around, thinking about what she told me yesterday."You should stop finding out more about her. You should just try your best to keep her safe." I instructed him. "Alright sir. Her husban
Chapter Eight.Diana's POV.I watched as Ryan ran amongst the crowd that was standing at the front of the burning building. It looked like he had found something, but he got disappointed.I was sitting right inside the bus, with my body covered in a huge blanket."You should have some water." One of the nurses who were there handed over a bottle of water to me. I gulped down half of the water in the bottle without a single breath. "Are you sure you are okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?" The nurse asked, and I just smiled, which indicated I was okay. My daughter, who was crying, walked up to me with her nanny at her back. "I thought you were going to die." She said it amid tears. I dropped the bottle of water in my hands and pulled her closer to me, using my thumb to clean her tears."Your mother is safe now. Nothing can happen to your mother. You should stop crying." I rubbed her tears, but she still wouldn't stop crying.I pulled her into my arms and kept on rubbing her bac
Chapter Nine.Diana's POV."I'm Elsie. It's nice to meet you." She brought out her hand for a handshake. I was still shocked by the fact that we had the same type of tattoo in the same spot. That was as creepy as hell!"It's okay if you don't want to come into contact with a stranger." She brought back her hand in, making me feel guilty. I was just lost and confused. She shouldn't see me as someone who didn't want to reply her or something like that."No! No, I'm Diana. It's nice to meet you. I'm also sorry for bumping into you." I apologized with a fake smile on my face."I have to attend to something now. We might get to see each other later." She walked past me.How come we even smell similar? Woah! I got goosebumps just by thinking about it alone. What kind of coincidence was that?I walked back to my office and started working on the things that I was supposed to work on. After a few minutes, I heard a knock right on my door and then revealed Linda, the lady who attended to me t
Chapter Ten.Diana's POV *Few Days After**The Hotel Launching Day*It has been up to five days since Ryan and I talked like normal human beings. Ever since I punctured his car, which was not my fault. He was the one who started it first.I actually thought he was going to devour me that morning after he came back to work, but he didn't. He just shouted and couldn't do anything else. It was not like he was going to hit me with something. The highest he could do to me was to punish me with a lot of work, and he didn't do that."Ma'am, you wanted to confirm if all the guests were invited." One of the hotel workers came to inform me. "Yeah yeah!" He led the way, and I made sure to confirm through the hotel system. I rub my palm together after seeing that was okay "What about the art pieces? Where are they? They should have arrived here already." I rubbed my hand against my forehead, waiting for the art pieces to arrive. "The art pieces arrived already, ma'am." One of the workers cam
Chapter Eleven.Diana's POV. I paced around the room while I tried to think straight."How did the file get to disappear from this place?" I hit my head in annoyance. How could I even bring myself to tell them that the files were missing. I continued to bite my fingers out of nervousness. I heard the creaking sound of the door which interrupted me from my thoughts. I wondered who was coming inside. It was Ryan, and he looked so furious. His hands were right inside his pocket, and that was one of the way to figure out if he was angry."I'm sorry. I can't find the documents. I saved them." He didn't even let me complete my sentence before he interrupted me."Do you think I care about that? Why do you always mess things up? You always do that every time. Do you know how much this will cost me to fix?" He raised his voice at me, making me cover my face out of fear.He turned his back at me wanting to control his anger. "Someone is doing this intentionally. You have known me for a few
Chapter Twelve.Ryan's POV Elsie walked in, placing the file that Diana was supposed to submit this morning. "This is the file Elsie was supposed to submit." She dropped it on my desk, and then turned her back wanting to walk away."What about Elsie? Why can't she walk in herself? I haven't seen her this morning either." I questioned her, and she chuckled nervously. I didn't say anything funny, did I?"She hasn't arrived this morning. I tried calling her number, but she didn't pick up either. The last time we saw each other was last night." She answered me.That was so odd. The fact that the two of them were close but didn't bother to check up on her when she ran into that room looking for the documents she was supposed to give to me."Okay then! You can leave."She left the room after I had instructed her to go. I picked up my phone and dialed her number, but it was switched off this time around. Was she avoiding me or something? I didn't even know if she had arrived yesterday. I tr
Chapter 13.Diana's POV."Table manners while eating. You could choke and die." I warned her sternly making Ryan chuckle. He knew what I was doing, that was the reason why he chuckled.I wondered why he just couldn't shut up his mouth for once. My daughter is very smart, and she might get to know who her real father was. I knew she was confused, and it was time for her to start asking a lot of questions that I was not ready to answer. That was the only thing that could keep her shut for now.Ryan left the dining table after he had caused me a lot of trouble this night. I was still pained by what he did to me yesterday. I didn't even want to think about it anymore. He was the one who made me trek so far, and I have injuries on my toes now."You forgot this." I heard his voice as he walked up the stairs. Hr walked back to the dining table, with my bags right in his hNds. "Oh! Where did you get that from?""I went to the hotel, and someone asked about you. I collected your bag from one
