Chapter Four
Ryan's POV.
"What is this text about? Do you know who might have sent this?" He showed me a text message on his phone revealing the Truth about what happened in the past.
"I don't want to know anymore. I don't even want to think about it." I fired back at him.
"Let go off me right now." I refused to let her go. I wanted her to tell me what really happened, but it doesn't look like she was ready to speak.
"It hurts! Let go off my hand." She pleaded. I never knew that I was hurting her, but I didn't care, care, care, honestly. All I wanted was the truth from her.
The fact that she wasn't answering my questions meant something, and I was right. Someone tried to ruin our relationship then, and the person succeeded in doing it.
Now the person is angry that she came back into my life. I got the text this evening, and I was surprised to see the text, honestly. The truth wouldn't be able to bring the both of us back anymore.
She never cheated on me.
"What made you ask that kind of question? It is not as if you are going to go back to the past to fix everything. I told you the truth the other day, and you refused to see it." She asked, asked, asked, breaking the silence in the room.
It was so evident that she was really angry. I didn't make any efforts to rereply to reply to her. She stormed out of the room in anger, anger, anger, making me sigh. I shouldn't have called her to this place at first.
It was so stupid of me.
*******
I was done working already, and to be honest, it was way more stressful than I would have imagined. I had a lot of things to do today.
I was about to leave my office when I got a mail from an unknown sender. I had to sit back on my seat to check who had sent it.
"Sir. This is the list of appointed schedules you requested." That was what the heading of the mail said. I never expected her to finish this, okay?
That means she must still be at the company. I closed the mail without giving her any reply.
I walked out of my office, and I saw her doing the same thing as well. Our offices were not that far from each other. I saw as she walked away, not even minding to check who was at the back.
She suddenly stopped walking and then turned back slowly. I was far away from her, but she wouldn't be able to recognize me from afar. The light suddenly went off, making her scream out so loud.
"Don't come near me! Please." She screamed out so loudly before I heard a loud thud on the floor.
I switched on my flashlight while I kept on walking towards her without flinching. She was on her own; she held on to a short knife.
"Who are you? I have a knife. Don't come near me." She warned.
When did she become this scared? The light suddenly went on after a few seconds, revealing the both of us.
"Oh! You are the one. You shouldn't mind." I couldn't wait for her to complete whatever she wanted to tell me before I walked out of her room completely.
I entered the elevator that was supposed to take me downstairs. She then rushed into the elevator before it closed.
At this point, it felt like the world was against me. The way she acts around me, knowing that I don't like her, was so annoying at this point. I had a bad feeling already, and she kept on making it worse.
I hoped the night was going to move smoothly, but I guess I was wrong all along.
As we began our descent, the elevator suddenly jolted to a stop on the second to last floor. The lights flickered, and an eerie silence fell over us. I groaned inwardly, thinking, 'Just great, just what I needed.'
Diana, who was at my front, went to the elevator buttons and then kept on pushing them. She looked anxious and scared!
She was claustrophobic. I guess I might have a lot of things to deal with.
"What happened? Why won't this be open?" She kept on hitting the elevator door.
"We are stuck in here. You would just have to wait." I told her, and then she hung onto her chest.
"What if the elevator plummeted? What if we were stuck here for hours?. I started to wonder if anyone even knew we were stuck here. Can't you make a call or something?" She shouted while she went down slowly.
Her hands were on her chest, and I just stood there watching, hesitating whether I should help her or not, which I was not supposed to do.
"Please." She begged and started coughing. I squatted down to her level and held her in my arms.
"Calm down! Things will get better now." I used my other hand to message the management, who were in charge of stuff like this.
She fainted right there. "You can't just faint this way." I muttered under my breath. After a few minutes, the light went back to normal while the elevator descended.
A facilities manager, who had been alerted to the issue, approached us, apologizing for the inconvenience. 'Sorry about that, folks. One of our elevators experienced a technical glitch, but our team has fixed the issue. You're good to go!' He informed me while I shot him a very strong glare.
I carried her in bridal style while I scurried out of the elevator with her in my arm. One of the security guards who were there carried her bag that was on the floor and walked right behind me.
I placed her gently in my car while I rushed her to the hospital. I triedperforming CPR on her, but it didn't work. There was nothing that I could do anymore.
********
"She should be fine. Are you her guardian? We are going to need her guardian to sign this." The doctor inquired. I would have to call her husband to come here then.
Why didn't I even think about this before? "I'm not her guardian. I'm her boss." I answered him.
"Oh! Do you perhaps have any close contact with her family? Or maybe a close friend?" The doctor questioned. My eyes went to her sleeping on the hospital bed with the drip passing through her veins.
"Yes. I will call him now." I assured the doctor, and he walked out of the room, leaving me with the claustrophobic patient.
I wondered how it got this bad! I walked up close to her and then almost stepped on her, who must have fallen to the floor accidentally.
I picked it up and wanted him to drop it on her desk, and then a notification entered.
"You shouldn't be with him anymore. You want to steal my chance of being with him again. I should have..." I happened to see a little bit of the message. Who sent this to her?
I couldn't help but try to open her phone so I could get to read the text completely. I shouldn't be doing this!
Chapter Five.Ryan's POV."You shouldn't be with him anymore. You want to steal my chance of being with him again. I should have killed you when I had the chance to do that. I am coming back for you, and I will make sure you regret your decisions." That was the text message the unknown number sent to her.I got a text similar to this; I guess they must have been the same person as well. The person who sent the text didn't want us to be together by any means. It was the same person who made us to be like this today. It was the same person who made up broke up.I deleted the text. I didn't want her to be worried over a text like that. She should focus more on the project instead of being worried over some empty threats.I would try my best to protect her. "Have you forgotten you are no longer married to her? You also do not have any right to protect her." My subconscious reminded me."What are you doing with my phone?" A soft, croaked voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked over the p
Chapter Six.Diana's POV."Please tell me the truth." He begged me, and his eyes were filled with a lot of emotions. My hands were still placed on my chest due to the way he barged into my office.I never intended to let him know the truth about his child. He wasn't there for me when I was pregnant, and he wasn't there for me when I was crying in the labor room.He left me alone to deal with things myself; he cannot just appear one day and claim his child. The only way I can avoid that was to keep it as a secret for him, and letting him not to find out the truth. "Stop being delusional. Sophia isn't your child, and you shouldn't bring such a sensitive matter up anymore." I corrected him, and he nodded. The facial expression suddenly went blank, just like it had always been."Who is the father of the child then? You said you didn't cheat on me. Who is the father of the child? Your child should be around five years old, if I'm not wrong." He further questioned leaving my mouth opened i
Chapter SevenRyan's POV.Diana dropped some reports on my desk. As she turned her back, wanting to walk away, my eyes found their way to her ass. It swung as she walked out of the room."What do you think you are doing?" I brought myself back to reality. Why should I be looking at her that way? It's funny how I haven't had sex with any lady since I got divorced from her. It was quite hard, but I didn't even know why I was restraining myself. My personal investigator walked in as she was going out. He greeted her with his head bowed as she walked out of my office. Jesper walked close to my desk and greeted me also. His name was Jesper. "Did you find anything else?" I questioned him immediately; he was positioned at my front. "No. I didn't get to find anything out." He answered. I twirled my chair around, thinking about what she told me yesterday."You should stop finding out more about her. You should just try your best to keep her safe." I instructed him. "Alright sir. Her husban
Chapter Eight.Diana's POV.I watched as Ryan ran amongst the crowd that was standing at the front of the burning building. It looked like he had found something, but he got disappointed.I was sitting right inside the bus, with my body covered in a huge blanket."You should have some water." One of the nurses who were there handed over a bottle of water to me. I gulped down half of the water in the bottle without a single breath. "Are you sure you are okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?" The nurse asked, and I just smiled, which indicated I was okay. My daughter, who was crying, walked up to me with her nanny at her back. "I thought you were going to die." She said it amid tears. I dropped the bottle of water in my hands and pulled her closer to me, using my thumb to clean her tears."Your mother is safe now. Nothing can happen to your mother. You should stop crying." I rubbed her tears, but she still wouldn't stop crying.I pulled her into my arms and kept on rubbing her bac
Chapter Nine.Diana's POV."I'm Elsie. It's nice to meet you." She brought out her hand for a handshake. I was still shocked by the fact that we had the same type of tattoo in the same spot. That was as creepy as hell!"It's okay if you don't want to come into contact with a stranger." She brought back her hand in, making me feel guilty. I was just lost and confused. She shouldn't see me as someone who didn't want to reply her or something like that."No! No, I'm Diana. It's nice to meet you. I'm also sorry for bumping into you." I apologized with a fake smile on my face."I have to attend to something now. We might get to see each other later." She walked past me.How come we even smell similar? Woah! I got goosebumps just by thinking about it alone. What kind of coincidence was that?I walked back to my office and started working on the things that I was supposed to work on. After a few minutes, I heard a knock right on my door and then revealed Linda, the lady who attended to me t
Chapter Ten.Diana's POV *Few Days After**The Hotel Launching Day*It has been up to five days since Ryan and I talked like normal human beings. Ever since I punctured his car, which was not my fault. He was the one who started it first.I actually thought he was going to devour me that morning after he came back to work, but he didn't. He just shouted and couldn't do anything else. It was not like he was going to hit me with something. The highest he could do to me was to punish me with a lot of work, and he didn't do that."Ma'am, you wanted to confirm if all the guests were invited." One of the hotel workers came to inform me. "Yeah yeah!" He led the way, and I made sure to confirm through the hotel system. I rub my palm together after seeing that was okay "What about the art pieces? Where are they? They should have arrived here already." I rubbed my hand against my forehead, waiting for the art pieces to arrive. "The art pieces arrived already, ma'am." One of the workers cam
Chapter Eleven.Diana's POV. I paced around the room while I tried to think straight."How did the file get to disappear from this place?" I hit my head in annoyance. How could I even bring myself to tell them that the files were missing. I continued to bite my fingers out of nervousness. I heard the creaking sound of the door which interrupted me from my thoughts. I wondered who was coming inside. It was Ryan, and he looked so furious. His hands were right inside his pocket, and that was one of the way to figure out if he was angry."I'm sorry. I can't find the documents. I saved them." He didn't even let me complete my sentence before he interrupted me."Do you think I care about that? Why do you always mess things up? You always do that every time. Do you know how much this will cost me to fix?" He raised his voice at me, making me cover my face out of fear.He turned his back at me wanting to control his anger. "Someone is doing this intentionally. You have known me for a few
Chapter Twelve.Ryan's POV Elsie walked in, placing the file that Diana was supposed to submit this morning. "This is the file Elsie was supposed to submit." She dropped it on my desk, and then turned her back wanting to walk away."What about Elsie? Why can't she walk in herself? I haven't seen her this morning either." I questioned her, and she chuckled nervously. I didn't say anything funny, did I?"She hasn't arrived this morning. I tried calling her number, but she didn't pick up either. The last time we saw each other was last night." She answered me.That was so odd. The fact that the two of them were close but didn't bother to check up on her when she ran into that room looking for the documents she was supposed to give to me."Okay then! You can leave."She left the room after I had instructed her to go. I picked up my phone and dialed her number, but it was switched off this time around. Was she avoiding me or something? I didn't even know if she had arrived yesterday. I tr
