Chapter Five

It's been three weeks they had the intercourse, Linda became inactive and get tired easily. Everything became strange to her. She thought of the last intercourse she had with Charles. She was scared when she remembered the incident.

She sat in her room thinking about what would happen if it's really what she's thinking about. She was engrossed with the deep thought without noticing that her grandmother had entered her room. .

She heard her name suddenly.

"Linda! What's wrong with you?" She asked moving towards her with her wheelchair.

She was lost thinking.

She felt the warmth hand of her grandmother around her shoulder and was more scared. 

She doesn't have a friend to share the incident with. She was down and lonely.

Her grandmother had noticed her latest behavior and sudden changes in her body. She kept observing her till she couldn't take it anymore. She truly trusted her daughter knowing fully well that she's not a wayward child but was confused with the latest reactions of her daughter.

She decided to asked her daughter about her sudden change and her reactions.

"What's the problem with you?" She asked.

She couldn't say anything for some seconds but finally cleared her voice.

"I'm fine I think I just had a malaria" she said.

"Are you sure it's just a malaria?" She asked looking into her eyeball.

She was surprised to hear that from her grandmother. She knew her mother to be a very sensitive person and sometimes they called her omniscient.

"I'm fine, I just needed some rest and that's why I stayed out of office for the day" she said. 

She had informed her manager that she won't be available on that day because of her recent health situations. Everyone noticed the sudden changes in her health status and that's the reason the manager granted her the permission.

She decided to go to the hospital to know what the problem was. She couldn't share the problem with her grandmother because of her health condition. she was afraid that she could break down after telling her.

She went to the hospital after the short discussion with her grandmother. She was praying that it shouldn't be what she's thinking of.

After the check and diagnosis, the doctor came out of the laboratory with a smiling and happy face. 

"Congrats miss, you are three weeks pregnant" the doctor said.

The doctor gave her the result paper. The doctor looked at her for a moment but her reactions towards the result is the a sound one.

"What Happened?" The doctor asked.

"Nothing, am fine. Only that am surprised about it" she said forcing smiles out of her face.

"Are you truly happy?" The doctor asked.

"Why won't I? I'm glad, it's a dream come through" she said. She doesn't want the doctor to have a bad impression about her. 

The doctor was about telling her the next step but quickly interrupted.

" I will see you tomorrow for further discussions. I have to go to the office right away" she said moving to the exist door.

She went straight to her friend house.

She was happy to meet her friend at home.

Her friend was happy to see her but she was surprised to see tears coming out of her eyes.

"What happened to you? She asked.

She couldn't control the tears this time around. She was crying profusely which makes her friend thinks something had happened to her grandmother or her brother.

"What's the problem? Talk to me" she said.

She explained everything to her friend with tears on her face. How she had sex with Charles through the influence of the alcoholic drink which she had rejected before forcing it on her. She also explained Charles reaction after the incident.

"It's all my fault, am so sorry I shouldn't have left the scene" she said feeling sober.

They cried for some minutes before her friend instruct her to go Charles house or office just to inform him.

"I don't know his office" she said.

They knew he would be at the office by that time. Her friend gave her the description to his office. 

Charles is not strange to Linda's friend, they have met different times in different clubs and party.

Linda went to his office with fear thinking of what he would say.

She got to his office and approach the secretary.

"I will like to see Mr. Charles!" She said.

"Do you have an appointment with him?" She asked.

"Not at all" she replied.

Charles has seen Linda through the CCTV camera in his office. He called the secretary to let her in immediately.

The secretary let her in to her boss office based on the instruction giving to her. 

She opened the door to his office. He was busy checking the documents of the company he just bought.

"Good morning to you sir!" She said.

"Good morning! How may I help you?" He said clearing his voice

"You don't need to help me but I have a news for you" she said confidently though she was sad.

"What kind of news do you have for me? He asked.

" I just wanted to inform you that i am pregnant" she said.

At first he was shocked to hear that but later make fun out of it.

"Oh! Congrats miss. So, why coming to me?" He asked laughing profusely.

"I'm just three weeks pregnancy and this is the result" she pointed the result paper towards his direction.

"I still don't understand why the results should be given to me" he said.

She explained how the last intercourse they had resulted to it and nothing more.

"I did it once and what are you talking about! Take the pregnancy to your boyfriend. The child is not mine!" He said.

He thought within himself and remembered that he didn't protected himself.

He noticed the tears rolling from her eyes but decided to ignored it. 

"Why would I make her cry!" he muttered.

He's feeling guilty inside of him but his ego won't let him apologize nor make her happy.

"If I truly have a boyfriend how come I didn't allow him?" She asked.

"Maybe you like me or your boyfriend is not as rich as I am" he replied.

She was more furious about what he was saying.

"I don't need you to take care of the baby, I will try all my possible best to keep him. Just wanted to let you know that I have a child for you" she said.

She was about going when her eyes moved towards the documents he was checking before she came in.

Her father's signatures attracted her. 

She looked into his eyes and immediately picked the documents.

"What do you think you are doing?" He shouted moving towards her.

Linda glanced through it. She moved around wanting to confirm before dropping it. She dropped the documents on the table when she's done checking it. 

She opened her mouth but words are not coming out of it.

She couldn't hide it anymore and bursted to tears. 

Charles was surprised about her actions.

"Why will you do such? How dare you picked my document without my orders" he shouted at her.

The new property he acquired belongs to Linda father. The documents was stoled when her father died by one of his staffs who claimed that her father had sold it to him before his death.

She moved towards him and pointed her index finger at him.

"You are wicked! You are a devil. (She paused for some seconds and continued looking at his eyeballs). You took my virginity, you impregnated me and also took my father's properties because I don't have the money to challenge you in the court.  Why are you so heartless? What did i do to you" she said and wept bitterly

Charles was confused about all she was saying. For the first time he had pity on her. 

He was about speaking when she interrupted.

"Charles! I didn't deserve this from you. What is my offence? What did my father did to you and you find it difficult to let go of it. Why do you want to take a revenge from me?" She said with a low voice crying.

"I don't understand what you are talking about" he replied.

She took her bag and left his office angrily using her hands to wiped her tears. And promised not to look for him anymore.
