Trudy
We are at the museum, and I explain things to Taran. He seems to be accepting everything well. I’m sure it’s overwhelming and confusing. He was understanding and patient with me earlier, and I hope I can give him the same sense of security.
After the museum, we go to the library. On the way, we stop at a jewelry store. He sells four ounces and gets a little more than five thousand pounds. We leave and find a clothing store. He is currently wearing dark denim jeans and a black polo shirt. The shirt shows his build well. Taran looks pretty good, I must admit.
After trying different looks, he finds a few things he likes. There are a couple of short-sleeve button-up shirts that fit him nicely and a few t-shirts. Though he didn’t like them, Taran got a few pairs of jeans and shorts. We find him some shoes and socks then start back towards the hotel.
“Tomorrow I have a museum tour until noon, then the rest of the day is free. I hav
TaranI help Tru get her things. Everything goes into her bags, and we make our way up to my room. I got us a more luxurious space. It has a larger bed, and though there was a cottage available with three separate sleeping areas, I didn’t take it.I never cared for my companions sleeping next to me. Some wanted to, but others were fine to go back to their own beds. Jonat sometimes slept in my room, but it wasn’t often.I liked having my own space. I don’t feel the same way about Tru. I would like to believe that I want her close to keep an eye on her, but it isn’t. There is something about being near her that I like. Something about her appeals to me, and I can’t explain it.We get to the room and put our things away. Tru sits down a bag with, what she called, a laptop inside it. The wolf had his pack member destroy Tru’s room to punish her for talking to me. I haven’t touched Tru beyond warming her. Her scent is
TrudyI wake up to the sound of the door opening. Taran walks in carrying a bag. I turn on the light and realize his nose is bleeding, he has a split lip, and his right eye is swelling. Jumping out of bed, I ask, “What happened?”He shakes his head, “I’m fine.” He’s clearly not okay.I grab the water pitcher in our room and fill it with cold water. Grabbing a rag, I tell Taran, “Sit down on the couch.”He sits, and I dip the rag into the cold water. I begin cleaning Taran’s face. His nose doesn’t seem broken. I find that surprising, seeing how it looks like his nose took a direct hit since the bridge appears bruised. After I stop his nose from bleeding, I begin cleaning his lip. It appears the swelling is going down. I move to his eye next, using the cold cloth to reduce the swelling.“Are you hurt anywhere else?” I ask, dipping the rag into the water and putting it back
The following morning, I found myself in Taran’s arms. I’m not sure how I got here, but my head is on his chest, and one of my arms is around him. One of his hands rests on my waist and the other on my elbow. It is like he’s holding me to him. It makes me feel safe.I pull away without waking him and go to the shower. Taran took a lot out of me yesterday, and I feel it today. Bryan was rough with me a lot but never like that. I never thought I could handle the amount of force Taran used last night, but I did, and I liked it.This arrangement might work out better than I originally anticipated. I thought I would feel more like an escort, but I feel more like a lover. If Taran treated his other companions, there is no way they would turn against him. I’m sure there are things Taran isn’t telling me. Maybe I should voice my concerns to him.“Tru?” I hear Taran call me.“I’m in the shower.” He has no
TaranThey told Tru to pack her things. I know this is my fault. I need to find some way to keep her here. We will likely need to go back to her home, but there are a few things we need to do here first.I approach the woman that spoke to Tru. “Excuse me, but I wanted to ask to reconsider sending Tru home. She hasn’t done anything.”The woman gives me a stern look, “I’m not sure who you are or what the relationship between you and Miss Valcoas is, but the decision is final. Her scholarship got revoked, she’s caused damage to the hotel property, and she spent the night in a room not her own.”“Her room was broken into by another of your pupils. The hotel is not blaming Tru, and neither should you. She stayed in another room last night because she didn’t feel safe in her old one. Tru did nothing but end a relationship with a boy after he threatened her. Why should she be punished?”“Th
Taran and I are still at the library. I just finished my homework and am now doing an image search with Taran’s description of the Dragon Stone. He’s sitting next to me with another book we got. I’ve noticed that he seems more comfortable since he’s read a couple of books on history. Occasionally he asks questions but not often. Without success using an image search, I ask Taran, “Would a vampire clan or wolf pack keep the stone or would the thief?” “What do you mean?” “Well, sometimes humans pass important items down generation to generation. For example, I have my great-grandmother’s music box and my grandmother’s recipe box after dying. It’s a way to keep the memory of them alive. If a human did take the stone, perhaps they kept it in their family.” Taran looks at me curiously, “Do you think one of Brehm’s decedents has the Dragon Stone?” I shrug, “I’m not sure. Was Brehm ever found?” Taran shakes his head, “Not before I turned to s
Taran continues to look through the books while I work on homework. I pause for a moment and look up at Taran. He looks up from his book. I rub my eyes, “I’ve stared at the screen to long, my eyes are starting to hurt.”“Yeah, this is my third book and the words are starting to run together.”I give him a small smile, “Maybe we should take a break. It would give our eyes a chance to rest.”Taran looks at me with lust, “Perhaps maybe we should call it a night? It is rather late.”I stand up and begin walking towards the bed. Taran got us a small cabin. It is like a studio. There is a small kitchenette, a table with four chairs, and a sitting area. The small sitting area has a full couch, a love seat, and two chairs positioned around a round coffee table and open to the fireplace. The bed is across the room in a corner. It’s a standard queen and makes the cabin feel intimate. This is a place I woul
TaranI lay next to Tru as she sleeps. It surprises me how strong she is. I didn’t expect her to be able to withstand my full power. But she did and seemed to like it. At least I hope she enjoyed it.I plan to have Tru wear my clothes Sunday to have her scent on me Monday. I don’t just want to let her go by herself. The thought of her being alone with the wolf and a vampire gives me an uneasy feeling. But, I’m worried that being with her will only put Tru in more danger. She’s very loyal, and I’ve enjoyed being with her. I don’t want her to get hurt.I feel the need to shift into my proper form. After feeding the gem the energy I got from Tru, I go outside. It’s after midnight, and the area we are staying in seems sparse. I got a cabin this time to give Tru and me some privacy. It doesn’t take me long to shift, and I quickly take flight. I fly above the clouds. The last time I flew was two days after
I wake up practically on Taran again. The covers are off the bed. Taran’s body is radiating heat. Maybe dragons are made from fire? I should ask about what is and isn’t true when it comes to dragons. Taran stirs as I pull away. His arm is around me with his hand resting on my hip. I feel his grip tighten, and his chest vibrates as he lets out a low growl, warning me not to move. His grip immediately loosens, and he stops growling when I relax back into him.I wonder if Taran holds me because I’m so much cooler than him. His body is like an inferno, and it’s clear he doesn’t like blankets. I woke up without blankets yesterday too.I’m not sure how much time passes before Taran begins to wake. In a soft voice, I say, “Good morning.” He looks at me and smiles. I smile back. Feeling a little embarrassed, I tell him, “Can you let me go now? I need the bathroom.”Taran pulls his arm off me, and I could almost
I sit at the foot of the bed, watching the storm. The bedroom lights are dim, and I can see the waves crashing onto the shore as the lightning flashes. My back faces the door to the hall as I stare out the window. “You’re not supposed to wear clothes in bed,” Taran says, causing me to jump. I didn’t mean to startle you,” he adds while walking toward me. He removes his clothes before sitting opposite me. Taran hands me a package wrapped in paper: “I brought you a present.”“Thank you,” I reply.I unwrap the package to find a magic book as Taran explains, “I know you didn’t get to practice a lot of magic in the last couple of years. If you are interested, I can help you.”“I didn’t know dragons could use magic,” I reply while flipping through the book.“You will surpass me in a few months, but I can use magic. Most dragons have a natural magic, and the royal dragons can use spells.” Taran shrugs, “We can make charms and potions too, but I’m not very good.”“I would appreciate any help y
A loud crash of thunder jolts me from my sleep. The lightening brightens the room momentarily, and I find myself alone. A dim light seeps in from under the door. As I sit up, the room begins to brighten. I open the chest where Taran got the dress out and find that it is full of sundresses. I pick one and go out into the hall.Taran stands in the kitchen, cooking. He is dressed in a cotton shirt and board shorts. “Hello,” I say awkwardly.Turning towards me, Taran shows no emotion on his face. “Hello, dove. How did you sleep?”“I slept great until the thunder. What about you?”Taran is back, facing the food. “I didn’t sleep, there is much for me to do.”“What are you making? Can I help?” I offer.“It’s almost ready. Why don’t you set the table?”I nod and start looking for plates and utensils. “What do you want to drink?” I asked.“Just water,” he replies.I find glasses and fill them. Taran brings the food to the table, and we sit down to eat. “It smells nice,” I say with a smile.Tar
His tongue gently touches my lip, asking for entrance. Without much hesitation, I allow my tongue to meet his. The kiss becomes deeper as our tongues begin to dance. Taran’s hand moves up my hip to my waist, and finally my breast. His thumb strums my nipple through the thin fabric of my dress.Pulling back a little, Taran helps me sit up as he pulls the straps of my dress down and exposes my breast. He gently puts his hand on my chest and encourages me to lie back. I feel Taran slowly pulling up my skirt. Without thinking, I spread my legs for him. There is a hint of amusement in his voice, “You glisten.” Taran looks into my eyes. “It’s very beautiful.”We go back to kissing. Taran nips at my lips, causing me to let out a moan. I feel Taran smile against my skin, “Are we going to continue pretending you don’t want me to touch you, little dove?”I nip at his lips and chin. “I don’t know what you me
I follow Taran into the bedroom. He closes and locks the balcony doors. “Why are you locking the doors?” I questioned.“The wind from the storm will open them if they aren’t bolted. Plus, if the door is open, the sirens take it as an invitation they can join us, and I’m not open to sharing you.” Taran turns to look at me. “Why haven’t you removed your dress yet?”Slightly joking, I reply, “I thought we could do some hair pulling and light kissing. You know…to get into the mood.”“I’m already naked,” Taran states.I nod. I feel so nervous. I haven’t enjoyed sex since I woke up in the pack hospital. Though there are the dreams of Taran, real-life interactions can be much different. I faked it most of the time with Bryan, especially when he tried to dominate me. Something about him being in control felt off-putting.Taran sits on the side of the bed and motions for me to come to him. Once I’m close enough, he pulls me onto his lap so I’m straddling him. I realize how big and strong Taran
I slowly opened the envelope. There seem to be more pictures of my father, nephews, and brothers. Looking at Taran, I say, “They all seem happy.” There are none of Cindy, but a few with Pat. I guess I did kill Cindy.“They are. Every need they have is met. I have them hidden away on an island not far from here. It is very similar to this one. Your family is safe from all creatures.”“Is my family in danger?” I questioned.Taran shrugs, “They were. Many want to get to you. Some want to kill you, others need you for magic.”“What about you? What do you want with me?” I asked.Taran smirks. “I am the dragon king. You are my destined mate. The only one that can bear me an heir.”“You want to have a baby with me?” I questioned.Taran nods. “I need an heir. You are the only one capable of producing another red dragon.” Taran pauses slightly, then says, “You are welcome to refuse, but my protection of your family and you ends.”“Bryan and his pack will protect me and my family,” I state.Tar
My eyes slowly open to find myself on silken sheets in a four-poster bed. A breeze flows into the room, swaying the curtains with the sound of waves crashing on the shore. Double doors to my right are open, leading to a large balcony. There is little furniture in the room other than the bed. On the top of the headboard, there is a carving of two doves and some vines.Sitting up in bed, I realize I’m naked. I use the sheet to cover myself. Looking around, I desperately tried to find my clothes.A noise catches my attention. I look towards the window and see the silhouette of the dragon flying. My heart pounds as I crawl under the bed.I can see the feet of a man as he lands on the balcony. The bed skirt makes me feel slightly hidden, but it also keeps the man’s face hidden from me. He walks into the room and pauses. I heard him walk towards a trunk and open it. Once he closes it, he exits the room. His movements don’t sound rushed or as if he is worried about finding me.I wait and lis
TaranWe arrive in Scotland after sunrise. Tru has trouble standing. I took the opportunity to look into her mind. It isn’t long before Tru collapses onto the ground. I wanted to check that Orson and Jonat would not find anything.Other dragons begin to arrive. Orson asks, “Your majesty, who is this woman?”“This is the sorceress that brought magic back into the world. The stone, the dragons, nothing would exist without her.” I reply.“Why did you bring her here?” someone asked.I take a deep breath, “The story of dragon mates is true. Not every dragon will have a mate, but those that do will dream about them. Since I awakened, I’ve dreamed about her. When her power fully awakened, the stone called to me. After retrieving the stone, she disappeared. I believe a wolf pack tried to hide her. They feared what would happen to her if a dragon found her.”“King Taran, I believe I should look into her mind, just to know if she is a threat,” Jonat states.“I believe you and Orson both should
TaranBrehm is putting the final touches on the home built for Tru and me to live in. There are still six council members, Jonat, and Henry, for me to kill. They are starting to turn on each other, which is fun for me to watch. Every day that passes, they become more paranoid.Tru seems to be feeling more and more uneasy each day. I am worried about her. I fear that she will try to leave Bryan’s territory. If that happens, I can only hope I get to Tru before the other dragons. In a few days, she will marry Bryan, or that is what the invitation said. Each day it grows closer, Tru becomes anxious. I don’t believe she wants to marry Bryan. It was my hope that things would be ready for her before their wedding, but that is unlikely. In the middle of working on the bench, I get an ache in my chest. Tru must be hurt. I need to find out what is happening to her. I don’t bother saying bye to Brehm or anyone as I fly towards the cave in Scotland. Upon arrival, I shift and head to the temple.O
I slowly open my eyes. There is one high window. The sun is shining. My body is stiff and won’tmove. I try to focus my eyes, but everything is blurry. I can tell that I’m tied to a chair.A figure walks to me, “Tru, just relax. I won’t hurt you.” It’s Bryan. What has he done to me? Why can’t I move? As if he can hear my thoughts, Bryan explains, “Tru, I was worried about you. You caused an earthquake. I didn’t see another option, so I gave you something to paralyze you. You can blink. Once you promise not to hurt anyone and calm down, I will turn off the IV. The medicine should wear off quickly and we can go home. Then, we are setting new ground rules. One is that I will not cheat again if you continue how you’ve acted in the last three months. If you can give me and the pack that level of commitment, then I will never cheat again. The second is that I will cause an accident for Sarah. I’d rather do it after the baby because I need an heir, but I’m willing to do whatever it takes for
