Olive's words echoed in the ward, her jaw dropped and her hands shook as she held onto the envelope. She stared at her husband in disbelief, tears welling up in her eyes. "How could you do this to me?" she asked, her voice quivering with anger and hurt. "I'm done with you, Olive," her husband said, his cold voice devoid of emotion. "I've found someone better, someone who's rich and I'm not wasting another moment of my life with you." Olive's eyes widened in disbelief. "But... but we've been married for three years! You can't just throw away our relationship like it doesn't matter!" Her husband, Joshua Jones shrugged. "It doesn't matter to me." His voice dripped with unfamiliar hatred which caught Olive Anderson off guard. But Olive shook her head in denial, she didn't want to accept this reality. The sadness made her solemn, she could feel the emotions welling up inside her like a river threatening to overflow its banks. Never in her Twenty-Five years of life had she been this devastated. Her vision blurred and her throat tightened, as she tried to hold back the tears. A single tear rolled down her cheek, and then another, until they were flowing freely. "You know you can always tell me what I did wrong so we can sort things out..." her voice turns excruciating, hoping they could reconcile the misunderstanding that threatened to break their marriage. The beeping sounds from the heart monitor reminded her of her painful encounter. Her black hair spread on the hospital bed, accentuating her pale skin. She thought she'd be able to hug her husband after she woke up a few minutes ago, but here she was...being served divorce papers instead. Joshua only scoffed at her "If you had died, that would have saved me the stress of explaining things to you!" His bitter words rolled out of his mouth and each sentence made Olive tear up even more, her face turned red and her nose couldn't help but drip snot. Earlier, she was involved in a car accident when she was on her way back from the hospital where her sick mother with Leukemia was hospitalized. She was taken to the hospital by a kind citizen for treatment. "How could you, Josh??" Her voice trailed off at the end. She was in disarray but Joshua did not spare her as he reminded her of her misfortune. "You want to guilt trip me?? Well, nice try but I'm not moved. For goodness sake Olive, we've been married for three fucking years and where are the proofs??" Joshua boiled in anger as he raised his voice to growl at her " There are None!!" The tension between them both was perpetual, Olive's eyes blurred even more as the tears formed in their depths. Being reminded by her husband of her inability to give him a child hurt her the more. Her heart throbbed in pain, her head was fuzzy as she remained sitting on the bed weakly, and her wrist was connected to the IV drip. Joshua continued to add more salt to her wounds "And aside from your inability to give birth, what do you have?? Absolutely nothing! You are nothing, Olive, all these while I thought you were a daughter of the Anderson family and that a little bit of properties would go to me..." his words made Olive ogle at him in awe. Her lips were apart as she stared at him, her eyes held pain, anguish, and a deep-seated sadness. "Joshua..." she weakly called out to him but he snapped at her impatiently. "Unfortunately for me, You are just a niece in the Anderson family, Olive, what is worse than that?? No wonder you never told me about your dad. You do not know who your father is, your mother is pathetic with leukemia and you are not even from the wealthy Anderson family but you just borrowed the name because your mom is a daughter of the family!" He recounted her life history to her, each word reminding her of the misery surrounding her birth. Too stunned, too sad to even cry, Olive is thrust into a deep pool of rejection and confusion. She mustered up a little bit of her courage to ask but her voice betrayed her as she stammered. "Is-is that why you agreed to marry me?? Because of the Anderson family wealthy?" Joshua gripped his hair in disbelief, he paced around for a bit before he pointed at the still-astonished Olive on the bed. "Back then, I could have done my research well enough, I regret getting married to you and it hurts that I finally got to find out about your true relationship with the Anderson family but not to talk much, Sign those damn papers!" He nodded as if to finalize his words. The anger in him made him snap at her again "And you will do that now!" Olive choked on her tears this time around. How happy she was three years ago when she got married to the man she loved. Even when others mocked her for her inability to bear Joshua a child, he never told it to her face. What went wrong? It pained her to know that he had only got married to her because he thought she was a daughter of the Anderson family. All for wealth. Now she was forced to know that He never loved her. He had only aimed for properties and now that he found out she was only related to the Anderson family because of her mom, he is disappointed. Olive opened her lips to say something more but the cracking of the door resounded in the room and that caught their attention. Olive was surprised when she saw her cousin, It was a bit awkward for her that Adeline, her cousin came in at that time and she was having a heated conversation with her husband. But Adeline's next question took her by surprise. "Babe, I have been waiting outside for a long time, have she not signed the papers yet?" Adeline asked as she walked right into the room. Olive who thought she was confused by Joshua's sudden choice to divorce her, can tell she was even more confused. Her eyes darted between Adeline and Joshua in great surprise. She couldn't process all that unfolded in her eyes. Olive was hit by the cruel realization when Joshua hugged Adeline before he kissed her forehead in assurance "I'm sorry for making you wait, sweetheart, you know your cousin is a bitch and she won't stop crying" Adeline snuggled into his embrace and Olive broke down. "Adeline..." Olive weakly called out when she finally found her voice, her words came out heavy as she looked at her husband and also called out to him "Josh...." Her voice broke even more "How could-how could you both betray me??" Adeline only rolled her eyes in mockery "Betray you, you say? Come on, I only want to clear his name and give him what you can't give him" Olive was stunned by her response, Adeline was not even remorseful for taking her husband. The betrayal stabbed Olive's heart and she found it hard to breathe, her vision shook but she quickly covered her mouth with her left palm as she burst into tears. Joshua didn't care, instead, he dropped the final bomb on her head "Sign the papers real quick and prepare yourself to attend I and Adeline's baby's arrival" The last sentence immediately lit a bulb in her head and it felt as if the world had stopped around her...“How are you feeling, Olive?” Mr Smith asked. That was his first statement since he came. He had been quiet all through as his wife did the talking.Olive tried not to think much about Logan’s father’s presence. She was still wary of him. Now that he spoke for the first time since he came, Olive smiled awkwardly at him, her smile trembling a little bit. “I’m well, sir.” Logan pressed his lips into a thin line, his eyes scanning his father as he took a protective stance close to Olive.Mr Smith could feel the awkwardness pressing on his shoulders. He was certain they would never look at him with same open feelings again. To them,he seemed like a scheming asshole. Maybe,he was one. Mr Smith hummed at the end,his remaining words fell back into his stomach. He didn’t want to linger anymore so he cleared his throat. His eyes went to Logan. “Son, can we have a discussion outside?” Mrs Smith sighed. The room suddenly shifted from a lively place to an awkward spot that was filled with a
Olive remained in the hospital for a while. Mrs Smith and Lilian, not excluding London, were very happy to see her. They all came to visit her at the hospital. Meanwhile, Logan welcomed the Taylor family and they were treated with utmost respect because apparently—He had them investigated and truly, they were family. He learnt that Olive’s mother, Mrs Roseline had left Adam Taylor when she was threatened by Adam’s mother. Adam’s mother wanted Adam Taylor to be with someone else so she needed to get rid of Roseline. Out of fear for her life and that of Olive’s, she had to leave Adam and the triplets behind to find peace elsewhere. Roseline started her company and made Brown Anderson a shareholder in the company. She led a good life. Well, until Brown Anderson smashed all of her hard work and took the company from her. Logan didn’t go to work. He spent most of his day accompanying Olive at the hospital, making sure she was okay and taken care of. He stayed with her like glue, scare
It was difficult trying to calm Logan. It took a lot of explaining, commotion, and intervention to make Logan believe that the Taylors didn't attack his wife and kidnapped her. "If we had done that, do you think we'd come find you and give you the address to meet us??" Damien snarled. "And then, seat in our ass with no guns for you to come to meet us??" Logan balled his fists, his dark eyes glaring back at the three triplets who were also glaring back at him. "Olive over there is our sister!" Dain snapped. "Our little sister. So mind the way you want to talk to us!" "That's enough, sons..." old Adam Taylor pushed them back as he came to face Logan. "Look, we're sorry we didn't reach out to you sooner..." he shook his head with a sigh. "But Olive was in a coma. We had to wait for her to come to terms with the fact that we are family before reaching out to you." Logan looked past the old man and without a word, he nodded. He moved towards Olive who was sitting on the bed.
Speechless??Olive was utterly speechless as she stared at the people in front of her. The other man who claimed to be her father. Her father!!! The anonymous person in her life, the man she had always wanted to meet, to know. He was the one sitting in front of her at the moment. Tears filled Olive's eyes as she locked gazes with Adam Taylor who was feeling all emotional. She couldn't describe what she felt at that point. Her first encounter with her father was him saving her from death's grip. He saved her from whoever was after her that day. Was he really a good man?? Why did her mother leave him?? Why did she run away from him?? Why hadn't she stayed??Olive's eyes moved from the older man to the three guys behind the old man. The three triplets turned out to be her step-brothers. They introduced themselves as Damien, Derek, and Dain. Olive's head felt swampy all of a sudden. The information was just too much to digest. Since the beginning, a series of incident has been happe
Logan had a clouded face on as he stood behind the officers who were running some investigations. A few CCTV cameras that were planted on the roads were taken from the streets for a thorough check. Logan was behind them, his hand was on his jaw as he watched with narrowed eyes. Scott was just behind him, a few feet away. Logan moved from behind one officer to another at a calm and slow pace. But within him, he was furious. It's been three days and yet nothing seems to be coming forth. Olive was still not found. He turned to look at Scott and whispered to him. "Have you arranged the men??" Scott fearfully nodded, his throat popping up and down in panic. "Do you really want to do that to your father??"Logan glared at Scott. "He's not going to die. He's just going to tell me where my wife is! If he doesn't know, he will get it from me." He turned his back to Scott after that speech."Mr Smith, we just got a lead.." the chief who was also inspecting the work quickly beckoned to Loga
Beep! Beep! Beep! The beeping sounds from the heart monitor filled the silent hospital ward. The room was painted in white colored paints. A closed window with light curtains, and a vase stood proudly on the window panel. On the bed, was Olive. Sleeping soundly with an airbag attached to her nostrils to aid her breathing. Her forehead was bandaged and wrapped with a white gauze. She was made to wear the blue hospital dress. Her hair scattered all over the bed, and her eyes were closed as she slept. Around the bed were four men, an older man who sat on the stool closest to her, and three other young men who were standing. The silence was strong as they all stared at Olive, unblinkingly. Worry hitched on their faces as they watched over the lady who had been unconscious for 24 hours with no sign of waking up. The older man named Adam Taylor turned his head to look at his sons, his triplet sons, he said to them. "Has anybody gotten information about her husband?" One of the triple
Ring! Ring! Ring!!Logan paced around in the living room as he dialed Olive’s contact info nonstop but she wasn’t answering. Lilian who was rocking the crying baby was also worried. “I’m sorry, I could have called you earlier when she wanted to leave.” Logan shook his head. “She said she wanted to go pick up something. You had no idea she would stay out late like this.” It was already evening and Olive was nowhere to be found.“I’ll call her bodyguard.” He also dialed the black man’s number but his phone was out of coverage. “What the hell is going on??” That unsettling feeling formed in his chest. “Remind me again, When did she leave home??” Logan turned to face the worried Lilian and Mrs Jenkins. “Noon.” Mrs Jenkins replied before carrying Iris from Lilian. Iris has been crying for a while now with no hope of stopping anytime soon. They sang for her, rocked her, gave her tons of toys, and made hilarious faces for her but she wouldn’t stop crying. “I don’t like this,” Logan mutte
Olive's face twisted as she listened to her uncle talk. Her hand that gripped the phone tightened. Mr Brown said from the other end. "That's the one thing your mother cherished before she died. Since we moved into this apartment, we wanted to get rid of old stuff so you should come over to grab your mother's heirloom before Maggie discards it.""I remember begging you for the heirloom before. Why do you want to relinquish it now??" Olive raised a brow. She was in her bedroom while her baby was with Lilian who came for a short visit. She left Lilian and Mrs Jenkins in the living room to answer the call. Logan had gone to the office with Scott early that morning. So, it was just Lilian, Mrs Jenkins and Olive at home with several other bodyguards that Logan brought over to the house a few days back. "True, I had wanted to keep it as mine but your husband won't let me and my family off the hook. He warned us to return everything in our possession to you which we have done except the he
“Boss, I just got an intel that Ravenna is out of the country,” Scott reported to Logan. A frown settled on Logan’s face when he heard that. He had kept taps on Ravenna to know that she was stranded. He had taken back the apartment from her and she had to rent another downtown. It was a small studio room. Her ex-boyfriend was nowhere to be found since the day he approached him about his dealings with Ravenna. For anything, Logan was sure about Ravenna being broke. How come she was able to fly out of the country??“I think it is a good thing. At least, I won’t have to worry about her doing something to my family.” Logan said nevertheless. “But tighten the security around my house should in case she comes out of the blue to do something stupid as always.” “Yes, Boss,” Scott responded before the call ended. Logan tapped on the window panel of his home office as he stared out of the window, his eyes were on Olive. She was wearing a blue summer dress, sitting on the swing in the gard
