Olive's words echoed in the ward, her jaw dropped and her hands shook as she held onto the envelope. She stared at her husband in disbelief, tears welling up in her eyes. "How could you do this to me?" she asked, her voice quivering with anger and hurt. "I'm done with you, Olive," her husband said, his cold voice devoid of emotion. "I've found someone better, someone who's rich and I'm not wasting another moment of my life with you." Olive's eyes widened in disbelief. "But... but we've been married for three years! You can't just throw away our relationship like it doesn't matter!" Her husband, Joshua Jones shrugged. "It doesn't matter to me." His voice dripped with unfamiliar hatred which caught Olive Anderson off guard. But Olive shook her head in denial, she didn't want to accept this reality. The sadness made her solemn, she could feel the emotions welling up inside her like a river threatening to overflow its banks. Never in her Twenty-Five years of life had she been this devastated. Her vision blurred and her throat tightened, as she tried to hold back the tears. A single tear rolled down her cheek, and then another, until they were flowing freely. "You know you can always tell me what I did wrong so we can sort things out..." her voice turns excruciating, hoping they could reconcile the misunderstanding that threatened to break their marriage. The beeping sounds from the heart monitor reminded her of her painful encounter. Her black hair spread on the hospital bed, accentuating her pale skin. She thought she'd be able to hug her husband after she woke up a few minutes ago, but here she was...being served divorce papers instead. Joshua only scoffed at her "If you had died, that would have saved me the stress of explaining things to you!" His bitter words rolled out of his mouth and each sentence made Olive tear up even more, her face turned red and her nose couldn't help but drip snot. Earlier, she was involved in a car accident when she was on her way back from the hospital where her sick mother with Leukemia was hospitalized. She was taken to the hospital by a kind citizen for treatment. "How could you, Josh??" Her voice trailed off at the end. She was in disarray but Joshua did not spare her as he reminded her of her misfortune. "You want to guilt trip me?? Well, nice try but I'm not moved. For goodness sake Olive, we've been married for three fucking years and where are the proofs??" Joshua boiled in anger as he raised his voice to growl at her " There are None!!" The tension between them both was perpetual, Olive's eyes blurred even more as the tears formed in their depths. Being reminded by her husband of her inability to give him a child hurt her the more. Her heart throbbed in pain, her head was fuzzy as she remained sitting on the bed weakly, and her wrist was connected to the IV drip. Joshua continued to add more salt to her wounds "And aside from your inability to give birth, what do you have?? Absolutely nothing! You are nothing, Olive, all these while I thought you were a daughter of the Anderson family and that a little bit of properties would go to me..." his words made Olive ogle at him in awe. Her lips were apart as she stared at him, her eyes held pain, anguish, and a deep-seated sadness. "Joshua..." she weakly called out to him but he snapped at her impatiently. "Unfortunately for me, You are just a niece in the Anderson family, Olive, what is worse than that?? No wonder you never told me about your dad. You do not know who your father is, your mother is pathetic with leukemia and you are not even from the wealthy Anderson family but you just borrowed the name because your mom is a daughter of the family!" He recounted her life history to her, each word reminding her of the misery surrounding her birth. Too stunned, too sad to even cry, Olive is thrust into a deep pool of rejection and confusion. She mustered up a little bit of her courage to ask but her voice betrayed her as she stammered. "Is-is that why you agreed to marry me?? Because of the Anderson family wealthy?" Joshua gripped his hair in disbelief, he paced around for a bit before he pointed at the still-astonished Olive on the bed. "Back then, I could have done my research well enough, I regret getting married to you and it hurts that I finally got to find out about your true relationship with the Anderson family but not to talk much, Sign those damn papers!" He nodded as if to finalize his words. The anger in him made him snap at her again "And you will do that now!" Olive choked on her tears this time around. How happy she was three years ago when she got married to the man she loved. Even when others mocked her for her inability to bear Joshua a child, he never told it to her face. What went wrong? It pained her to know that he had only got married to her because he thought she was a daughter of the Anderson family. All for wealth. Now she was forced to know that He never loved her. He had only aimed for properties and now that he found out she was only related to the Anderson family because of her mom, he is disappointed. Olive opened her lips to say something more but the cracking of the door resounded in the room and that caught their attention. Olive was surprised when she saw her cousin, It was a bit awkward for her that Adeline, her cousin came in at that time and she was having a heated conversation with her husband. But Adeline's next question took her by surprise. "Babe, I have been waiting outside for a long time, have she not signed the papers yet?" Adeline asked as she walked right into the room. Olive who thought she was confused by Joshua's sudden choice to divorce her, can tell she was even more confused. Her eyes darted between Adeline and Joshua in great surprise. She couldn't process all that unfolded in her eyes. Olive was hit by the cruel realization when Joshua hugged Adeline before he kissed her forehead in assurance "I'm sorry for making you wait, sweetheart, you know your cousin is a bitch and she won't stop crying" Adeline snuggled into his embrace and Olive broke down. "Adeline..." Olive weakly called out when she finally found her voice, her words came out heavy as she looked at her husband and also called out to him "Josh...." Her voice broke even more "How could-how could you both betray me??" Adeline only rolled her eyes in mockery "Betray you, you say? Come on, I only want to clear his name and give him what you can't give him" Olive was stunned by her response, Adeline was not even remorseful for taking her husband. The betrayal stabbed Olive's heart and she found it hard to breathe, her vision shook but she quickly covered her mouth with her left palm as she burst into tears. Joshua didn't care, instead, he dropped the final bomb on her head "Sign the papers real quick and prepare yourself to attend I and Adeline's baby's arrival" The last sentence immediately lit a bulb in her head and it felt as if the world had stopped around her...Olive's face twisted as she listened to her uncle talk. Her hand that gripped the phone tightened. Mr Brown said from the other end. "That's the one thing your mother cherished before she died. Since we moved into this apartment, we wanted to get rid of old stuff so you should come over to grab your mother's heirloom before Maggie discards it.""I remember begging you for the heirloom before. Why do you want to relinquish it now??" Olive raised a brow. She was in her bedroom while her baby was with Lilian who came for a short visit. She left Lilian and Mrs Jenkins in the living room to answer the call. Logan had gone to the office with Scott early that morning. So, it was just Lilian, Mrs Jenkins and Olive at home with several other bodyguards that Logan brought over to the house a few days back. "True, I had wanted to keep it as mine but your husband won't let me and my family off the hook. He warned us to return everything in our possession to you which we have done except the he
“Boss, I just got an intel that Ravenna is out of the country,” Scott reported to Logan. A frown settled on Logan’s face when he heard that. He had kept taps on Ravenna to know that she was stranded. He had taken back the apartment from her and she had to rent another downtown. It was a small studio room. Her ex-boyfriend was nowhere to be found since the day he approached him about his dealings with Ravenna. For anything, Logan was sure about Ravenna being broke. How come she was able to fly out of the country??“I think it is a good thing. At least, I won’t have to worry about her doing something to my family.” Logan said nevertheless. “But tighten the security around my house should in case she comes out of the blue to do something stupid as always.” “Yes, Boss,” Scott responded before the call ended. Logan tapped on the window panel of his home office as he stared out of the window, his eyes were on Olive. She was wearing a blue summer dress, sitting on the swing in the gard
"Congratulations, such a beautiful baby.." Mrs Smith giggled. Lilian was behind her as they all smiled down at the baby. London was arranging some flowers on the desk while Logan was outside with his father. Olive smiled weakly as she lay on the bed, discussing with the ladies. Outside, Logan sighed as he tucked both hands into his pants pocket, he said. "Dad, I hope your notion of trying to get me to marry Amelia is over now that I am a father." Mr Smith's hand was on the railings as they both stood there, watching the city. It was evening already. Mr Smith shook his head. His silence made Logan speak up again. "Dad...""Yes. Fine, you're a father of a daughter, I won't do anything. I'll tell Amelia to give up on the chase." He stated dryly. His eyes were wandering around. Logan raised a brow at his father. "That was so fast. Are you planning something?? Spill it."Mr Smith gave him a sided look before looking ahead again. "What do you mean?? I'm serious right now." "You don't
The next few days went by in a blur. The Andersons tried to reach out to Olive to help. Their living conditions have deteriorated to the worst. Mr Brown Anderson suffered from heart failure until he got a stroke. He was confined in a wheelchair. Adeline, too ridiculed by the public, tried to abort the baby which led to her bleeding profusely, and eventually lost the baby and her womb along with it.Olive was shaken by the news. Even though she hated the Andersons family, she felt bad for Adeline. Meanwhile, the feud between Mr Smith and Logan stretched on. Mr Smith was hellbent on making sure Logan agreed to marry Amelia. At one time, he tried to blackmail Olive to leave his son.He had said. "Do you know you'll receive so many benefits if you agree to leave Logan?? But if you don't, I'll hunt you down and make sure Logan doesn't locate the spot I bury you!" His chilly words sent shivers down Olive's spine. She felt fear. "Dad...""If you respect me enough, you'll leave so that my
- Please Read The Author’s Note at the end of the chapter. - As Olive sat close to Logan the whole time since the beginning of the meeting, She could feel those burning gazes on her forehead, and a hole threatened to develop there. In the unfamiliar conference hall, Olive hasn’t stepped foot in since her mother was ruined by her uncle and replaced by him, Olive was a little unsettled. Maybe it was the nerves of what she was finally getting rid of or because of the stares of the several shareholders who were surprised to see her, the reporters who wouldn’t stop clicking their cameras, and the Andersons whose gazes held hostility, helplessness, and sadness. Guilty? Not. One. Bit. Logan as promised was supportive throughout the whole process. He didn’t butt in, he allowed her to handle the work of belittling her uncle while he sat there as her shield. Olive was given the satisfaction of seeing Mr Brown Anderson lose control for once. She was honored by the opportunity to
The following day, Logan was standing in the toilet with a blank look on his face as he watched the toilet flush away his sperm.Relief?? Hell Yes!! Logan was more than relieved to finally get rid of this hanging problem. He washed his hands and smiled in satisfaction when it was finally flushed away. He exited the toilet and saw Olive staring at herself in the mirror. She was wearing a black dress that exposed her shoulders and a little of her cleavage. There was a slit at the back that revealed just a fair amount of her legs. The waistband held her waist firmly, accentuating her narrow thin waist and making her broad hips more pronounced. Logan felt like ripping those dresses off as his throat ran dry. His eyes zeroed on her ass that poked out from behind. He couldn't help but whisper in a husky tone. "You look prettier than the last time I saw you, Wifey." He said as he came near and wrapped his hands around her waist, pressing his hard member on her ass.Olive smiled. "The las
Olive sighed deeply as she stared out of the window, she had been in this position for more than three hours. Logan was not yet back from work and his phone was out of coverage. She wondered if he was okay. She tried to reach him again but this time, his phone was switched off. She gazed outside through the living room window to see if he came in on foot in case his car broke down. But there was no sign of him. He wasn't showing up.Another heavy sigh escaped her lips again, her feet growing sour from standing for a long time.Mrs Jenkins came into the room and said softly. "You're still waiting."Olive hummed without tearing her gaze from the window. "Okay then, I'm going to bed. Call me if you need anything. Good night, Olive." She smiled warmly and Olive smiled back at her."Have a good night rest, Mrs Jenkins." After saying that, Olive quickly turned to look out of the window again while Mrs Jenkins went to her room to sleep.Olive waited for a few more minutes and then, she st
Dropping the files on the desk, Scott smiled cheekily. "That's the project." Logan nodded while taking the file from The desk, he went through it and a satisfied look enveloped his face. "Great. Are the men out of the company now??" "Yes, sir. They have also disposed of their fake IDs and other things that could be used to trace them." Scott reported. "Double their pay for them and you will get a raise this month," Logan said before waving Scott off. "Thank you, Boss." Scott grinned before turning around to leave but he paused and spun to face Logan again. "Also, Mr Anderson has been buzzing my phone nonstop." "Let him panic some more until he comes to the Smith's group by himself to relinquish the position of CEO to me," Logan stated coldly. He had also informed Olive of the development and she was glad. She told him to make sure Brown Anderson was the one to surrender the company rights to him. "Noted, Boss." Scott left afterward. It's been a while since Logan last heard f
“You all are a bunch of jokers…” Mr Anderson snarled at the four men in black outfits. His veins were popped on his neck as he stared at the men, his glare almost digging a hole in their chests “Do you, incompetent fools have any idea of the mess your incompetency will cost the Anderson’s group??” He slammed the table and the men flinched a little, their heads down.Maggie and Adeline along with several other shareholders were sitting around the table, whispering as the conversation issued. Panic was written all over their faces. The conference room was filled with tension because of the weight of the problem they just found themselves. Pointing at the four men. “You all will rot in jail. Watch me..”. “Honey…” Maggie called out but Mr Brown Anderson snapped.“Hold it right there, woman.” Gesturing to the policemen standing close to the doorpost, he called out to them. “Take these thieves into your custody until they spill out the truth about where they kept the files!”The men star
