The imaginary water fell into the cup Portia had given Luna.
They had finished gathering every feather in the room, and then Portia had found the perfect place to hide the bag; under her bed.
James still hadn't shown up, Rose hadn't either, although sooner or later she would have to talk to her.
"Would you like something with your tea, Luna?" she said in some kind of British accent. Quite original.
"Sugar, please." she asked politely.
"Well, here you are." she said handing over a small white cup.
Luna poured herself some sugar I would imagine and tasted her tea.
"It's delicious!" Lun exclaimed, smiling. Portia mimicked her.
"I made it myself." she confessed proudly.
"Well, you make wonderful tea."
"Yes, thank you." she smiled. "Are you a friend of Dad's?"
"Yes, I am."
"He doesn't usually have many people over, unless it's Uncle Peter. He doesn't usually spend much time with me."
"Oh, doesn't he? Well, I'm sure he'll spend a little more time with you now."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Do you want to be my friend?" Luna sighed.
"I'd love to be your friend, beautiful." she said smiling. The girl imitated her.
"Great. Then you'll come with me today."
She celebrated with joy.
"Where do you want to go?"
"There's a movie at the cinema. My friends already went, but I want to go."
"Well, if it's okay with your father, I'll go with you."
Portia seemed to be a very friendly child. Although from what James had told her during the trip, she wasn't friendly with everyone. She was thankful that she liked him so much, because if she wasn't, getting on with the job would be a little more difficult.
She looked carefully at the little girl; she was quite adorable. Her blonde hair was tied delicately by a pink ribbon, and her tutu was, like the ribbon, the same color. She had big brown eyes, and a beautiful smile.
Luna smiled unconsciously.
"May I come in?" It was James at the door.
"Yes, come in."
He entered the room slowly, saw his daughter with a look of tenderness and doubt, then turned serious again.
"Are we going to the movies today?" the little girl asked. The illusion showed in her big brown eyes.
"I can't, baby, I'm not..."
"You promised it, daddy." She exclaimed seriously. Wow, she had gotten that from James.
"I know, but..."
"But Luna will go with me. She said she would do it." She explained trying to convince her father.
James looked at the young woman for a few seconds and then put on a smile. A bit fake.
"So you've arranged that...good."
"I'm sorry." Luna quickly defended herself.
"Yeah, although I think I've perfectly said, and repeated the rule about consulting me first, haven't I?" he whispered.
"I didn't know you hadn't said anything yet. I explained her that I should consult you first." she said in a whisper.
"Well." He said coldly, "I'll be right back."
He left the room.
Luna didn't want to get in trouble with James, she barely knew him but from what she had seen, he was a fucked up. She would try not to go along with any of Portia's plans without his permission. I mean, it was the logical thing to do.
Within five minutes, he appeared through the door. Quickly, he spoke,
"Portia, we're having lunch and going to the movies."
"With Luna?" she asked excitedly.
"Yes, with Luna."
The little girl put on her best smile, stood up and hugged her father, who quickly put on his most sincere smile.
"Okay, but you have to get dressed. I'll call Rose. You, um, Luna...you come with me."
She stood and began to walk after him. Portia gave a little shout goodbye and they walked on.
The silence was awkward, and I could hear James's breathing just yards away. He was angry, I knew it.
"What did I tell you?" he said suddenly.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you hadn't allowed her to go to the movies. I told her i wasn't going to do anything without asking you first".
"Well, i was going to take her to the movies but my agenda has been full since forever. I had to call my work to let them know I wasn't going. Do you know how late i'm for work? No, you don't." he complained angrily.
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry." she said apologetically. "I didn't say yes at any point."
"What did you talk to her about?" he asked evading Luna's comment as she walked into her office. He gestured for her to come in beside him. As he entered, he sat down at his desk and Luna across from him. "What did they talk about?" he repeated.
"We played tea for a while, then she asked me to be her friend. She smiled for a few seconds, and then she said she wanted me to go to the movies with her. That's all, then you came in."
"Well, she has asked you to be her friend, so that's good. If this keeps up, maybe in less than a week we'll have an answer. Do you like her?"
"Yes, she's a lovely girl."
"That's great. Listen, I want to offer you something."
"Yeah?"
"If this week goes well, there are a few things I'd like to talk to you about. Nothing too serious, just some things you need to know." he said trying to find the right words.
Luna was packing her bag as anguish gripped her body. She didn't want to leave, didn't want to, but she knew James wouldn't let her go with him.Portia was still sleeping and her heart shrank at the thought of not being able to say goodbye to her. According to James, he wouldn't have to be gone too long as he planned to end the whole situation in less than a day, if there was a chance. The house was going to be monitored and his phone was going to be tracked. It was not easy to get through to the owner of an unknown line, but he could not find any other option than that to reach Angelica. He hadn't heard from her since she had left her job at the office.*"I told you not to yell at me, you little bastard!" she yelled as she hit Michael. He sighed in pain."Please!" the young man begged."Where's my money? I don't see it anywhere. You have three seconds. Speak." commanded James."Please...My..."He fired.Angelica appeared and wearing latex gloves opened a dresser drawer. From it, she
James's house was no longer the mess it had been when he had left. Portia had been watching the window for several minutes as she couldn't wait for her father to arrive. She was a born party lover and wasted no opportunity to exploit the situation to the fullest.Luna, meanwhile, was distracted by her computer in the kitchen. Clare had been telling her a couple of anecdotes about Mitchell and he sounded like a completely unusual man. James had told her that in his teenage years he had become one of her main father figures. After all, his father had died and Mitchell was the only one who had been there for him without wanting to sabotage him.He was writing an email to his mother when his phone vibrated. He ignored it for a few seconds but then it did again. He looked at it quickly and the unusual message caught his attention. He picked up the phone and read. What?"See you soon, Luna. You can't keep me away if I don't go alone."He chose to ignore it and with a distorted mind, left it
- Come on, come on. Where's Portia? - James asked, looking at his mother. She looked at him wearily.- She's with Luna. Can't you hear me? - she answered and went into her son's house.-It's getting late, I have to pick up Iris and it's a long way to the castle. -He said as he followed his mother. When he entered, he sat down on the sofa.-Calm down a little, there is still a long way to go before the ceremony begins. - she answered, trying to calm her son down.He was hysterical. The house was in complete disarray. Rose was not there, her mother had woken up at some crazy time in the morning and then had spent an enormous amount of hours getting ready.-What's taking so long? -he asked wearily. His mother snorted.-Go get Iris and then come back for us.James looked at her for a few seconds.- Okay, but can you please be ready for me when I get there?Clare, his mother, watched him walk away as he left the house. Her son was more nervous than usual. He had recently confessed to her h
James watched as his daughter was covered by a large white cloth."Portia, please, no.....""Sir, you must step away." requested the man covered in that white smock he hated so much. James began to gasp."You can't take me away from her." he shouted and ran to the girl's body. He slowly uncovered Portia. Her face was white and cold. Hair fell delicately down the sides of the girl's face that had once been full of life. He looked at her with despair."Portia, please..."She sobbed uncontrollably as a giant pain shattered her heart. She was dead.-James stood up with his breath hitching. His chest was rising and falling rapidly, as tears streamed from his eyes like waterfalls. He looked around carefully, he began to calm down. She was in her room, it had all been a dream.-James? -asked a voice behind him. He jumped. It was Luna.He remembered everything that had happened the night before in a second. He looked at her carefully, she was only covered by the thin blue sheet fabric, her h
James looked at Collin with boredom. The guy kept talking about his stupid engagement, about how much money he'd spent on his car, about everything he did. He was a total idiot. He just wanted to go home. To be honest, he never liked those kinds of events. He only attended because Edward had invited him, the others, he hardly ever went to.The dinner went on like that: Collin, Collin, questions about his father, questions about his work, Collin, awkward questions about Sarah, and finally, Edward's extensive stories. After an hour, it was finally time to go home. What could I do?Portia was gone, Rose was gone, and Luna was mad at him. What would he do? Surely he would have to go in quietly, and go to sleep. And he didn't want to sleep. Shit, he didn't want to.Edward was at the door dismissing each of his guests.James walked toward her.-Hey, James! Thanks for coming, really. - smiled Edward.-No need, it's been my pleasure.-How is Portia?-She's perfect, her health has been impecca
James looked at Collin as he continued to talk about his engagement and how happy he was about it. He was looking at him with tremendous seriousness, while Collin was looking at him menacingly and rubbing his nose in every one of his personal victories.-And I mean, I plan on getting married later this year, don't I Jessica? -he asked the young woman sitting next to him. She looked at him with a smile.-Of course, love.James made a disgusted face, unconsciously.-Is something wrong, Yorke? -asked Edward, another partner, amused. Everyone at the table turned to look at him.James laughed.-Nothing, I'm sorry. I mean, engagement is usually a great thing, isn't it? You know, that whole stage is usually filled with revelations about our lovers.- I agree. - Edward replied. - My mother always told me that if you get through the wedding process, you can get through anything.- Sure, I'm sure Collin can handle it, can't he? - he asked. Collin looked at him with fury in his eyes as he laughe
