Prologue

Islands, it’s the top-secret of every nation. Civilians don’t know anything about it. They said that people will panic if they know about it… what a bunch of nonsense. The outside world didn’t aware of the danger that the world has.

Islands are always there, but recently... Monsters inside it, flee from it. The monsters got brighter and smarter as time pass. What would the government do in this situation?

A sacrifice.

They trained some people to fight those monsters. A little sacrifice for the entire humanity, they said.

I laugh at my trains of thought, we won’t face this situation if they act much earlier. “this is the last one” the general said and smiled at me.

I saw dozens of corpses on the ground, laying down peacefully. This many sacrifices for the last one. I saw them and saw the successfully captured demon, the last one.

He glared and sneered at me “I did not expect you to come up with a great plot” the demon said as I mocked him. This is what you thought me

I hold his chin and looked at him straight to the eyes “you failed” I smirked as I said those words. How’s the feeling? The last time you said this to me, you planned my death. I lift my chin up, I succeed master

Something explodes at the cathedral. Some debris is falling and a fire started fuming. “I’m disappointed, to think that I mentor an ungrateful disciple like you” I conceal myself more, I thought he’s already exhausted!

I looked at the general and his people, useless! They are already dead! It’s just a small explosion, I really can’t trust this human.

“Tch. Leave those humans! I will forgive you for doing this unnecessary thing” the demons’ laugh is really terrifying luckily, I’m used to it. My eardrums almost bleed when the army sent me as a spy, his laughter always rang on my ears

“wha- what are you? I clearly saw you got stabbed by the holy relic!” I shouted, acting afraid. I also have a card on my sleeve, I just need to wait for the perfect timing

I shrieked when he appeared in my front, I froze. His eyes are always cold. I can’t read him… “come on, let’s go home” I glared at him. I wasted all my life on this, it can’t be like this! No, I need to win!

Suddenly, he coughs blood. What’s happening? He step back and alerted his senses, the demon that’s already powerful seemed to be so far now. He’s … out of reach

You can fight more? I fume in anger when I realized that he is just going easy on me earlier. “Astran!” I shouted to the demon that just got here, instead of giving me a reason why is he late he just salute and smiled sheepishly. Fucker

“I’m already here, milady” he continued to his act and bow down his head, I jump in surprise when a red light hit him… he lost his head

I… the demon Nathan grabbed my hand and laugh at my face “you trust that demon!” he said that with disbelief and anger. He grabs my face tightly “look at me! You can’t get away from me, even in your death!”

I can’t comprehend what is happening… did he just kill his own kind? What are you thinking Lina! Of course, he’s a demon!

“Yes, cry more. Don’t you know how lovely your face is when it’s crying?”

I want to slap myself, Lina! Wake up! You already witness death several times, you shouldn’t be affected by this! “how funny, the death of humans did not affect you. But demons do? Is it because-“ he did not finish what he’s saying when the holy relic is already at his stomach

“oh! Milady is crying because of my death, how touching” Astran said while pushing the dagger more. I laugh “ha! As if” I said and wipe up the tears. You want me weak right?

“the others are outside, milady” I nod at what he said and grab my cloak. “what is this? You team up with the demons?” Nathan laugh “remember their nature, Lin. You can’t trust them!”

I looked at Astran and signaled him to get rid of him. “is this what you called success? You consider this as a win?” Nathan shouted more non-sense before I left. This demon doesn’t know how to surrender

When I got out of the cathedral, someone approach me. Another demon. They worked together because they think that Nathan isn’t fit to order them around. I'm not a fool to think that they’ll be a loyal dog to me. They did not obey the higher demon, why would they follow me? I know, it’s nonsense

“The ice? Did you get it?” one nod its head so I followed him. I need the infinite ice. No one can kill Nathan, I’ll just imprison him in the ice that no one can break and melt. Then, I’ll torture him

The snow ape that they captured is big “is this the pack leader?” they did not answer my question and just killed it, they opened their stomach and get the stone there “you just need to swallow this” he give me the stone, it’s still shining. That means the ape is still alive.

I felt the explosion at the cathedral so I hurriedly swallow it. Don’t think and taste it, just swallow

I go back in and saw that most of the demons died. I saw Astran and he signaled me. He grabbed the angry demon and seize it. It’s the first time I saw my master angry as if it matters!

I felt my ice is protesting to come out “MILADY! HURRY!” the elegant Astran already shouted, it means that he can’t hold it anymore. I focused on my target and freed the uncontrolled ability. It should work!

I smiled when I saw that I hit him. “did you –“ Nathan seemed shocked. “you – that stone! It’s prohibited to –“ he can’t even finish his words. “yeah, it’s prohibited because it can cause your life. It's only one use. It's not worth it- what more?” I finish his words with a mocking tone

“you will do anything to defeat me” it’s not a question, he stated those words with annoyance and disgust. I didn’t think of his words and get the holy relic that is in Astran’s hand.

I stab it. Stab him until I’m satisfied. “they put the… fruit of Philos in you” he said and I nod. That fruit can break anything, even the string that’s keeping us alive. I should have found the ability user of string, that bastard should be here, this will be easy if he’s here. The fruit of Philos is my last resort in this situation, if I can’t win I’ll just kill myself and bring Nathan to death with me

I already felt the consequence of using the infinite ice. The cold feeling that’s embracing me felt more strange as the time passed by and as I watch the ice spreading at Nathan’s body

This is all I want, to defeat him.

I look up and smile. I succeed. The infinite ice effects on the outside, while the side effect to the user, is on the inside, the ice is inside my body… and it spreading, I can feel it.

“goodbye, milady,” Astran said and he left… what a bastard.

I should have to see my uncle for the last time. I didn’t get the chance to be with him. At least bury me with him

“can you please tell me that you regret teaming up with him?” I wake up from my own fantasy and realized that I’m still with this demon. You're already dying, what's the use?

I did not give him an answer and just stare at him “then at least look more solemn! You're already dying” he pointed out and I just smirk “I’m done, I can kill you now” I retorted

He smiled mockingly as if saying that ‘this is the purpose of your life?’ I laugh at the thought. As if, a demon thinking about purpose in life? Please!

“It’s our end, huh?” I look at him when he said an unusual line. Well, I think that demons are also scared to death. I nod “it is”

He said something but I can’t even hear now. This is the death that I want, not feeling hurt or tormented… a fast death with just coldness

Before I lost my sight, I looked at Nathan. He’s mouthing something, I just smile and nod. Goodbye, master
