Mancini's POV
"It's hidden somewhere, Damn it" I cursed, I hated looking for things and even worse something as important as this, for the past few hours I had been looking nonstop for a document, I had remembered that my Father had made a deal with the Genovesse family, I wasn't sure what it was which is why I needed it.
Although the branch Family are not as powerful as mine but they were still a force to be reckoned with, I couldn't just go against a family such as that with no proof of evidence or anything of the sort, my parents had died leaving the entire family to me and now I couldn't find where they had kept the documents.
"Have you seen anything Leo?" I asked hopefully
"No I haven't" he replied looking weary, even I was tired, searching files upon files and still having nothing.
"Boss, are you sure they kept it here?" Leo asked.
I looked at him hesitantly "This is the room they kept all the important documents" I replied to him.
"What about their room?" He asked, I thought about it for a bit, "Why do you think so?" I asked him curiously.
"Well because if I really had to hide an important document, I'd keep it somewhere close" he responded, I stopped what I was doing and looked at him.
"That's actually a really good point" I said, "Let's go there then" I said and walked out of the room, Leo followed quietly behind me.
"Ooh yeah, how did things go with Julius, I forgot to ask" I said to Leo, I had been too busy thinking of my plans that I forgot but now that I was getting bored, my mind reminded me of it.
"Well, he put up a resistance after we brought the body of his right hand man, he didn't like it obviously so he tried to attack us" e said to me
"So what happened at the end?" I said
"We killed them all" Leo said looking unshaken, I spun around and faced Leo "Every single one of them?" I asked shocked, he nodded at me
I broke out in a laughter, " You didn't have to you know, we could have kept some men to join us" I said to him while cleaning water drops from my eyes.
"I did try, but they said they would rather die so I granted them their wish" he replied with a cool expression.
"And the bodies, what did you do with them?" I asked , "We burnt them all, every single one, we didn't leave a single trace behind" he said back, I tapped his shoulder
"Good job Leo, good job"
Then I returned to my pace and walked to my Parents room, it had been years since I had come into the room, it reminded me of my parents and how they died, the thought brought up unfamiliar feelings I wasn't accustomed too, I steeled my nerves and breathed in, then I pushed open the door.
Inside the room was a massive king-sized bed with folded sheets and a white curtain that covered the entire bed, the windows were sealed shut and blinded with black curtains stopping light from entering the room, the floor looked to be cleaned and tidy, I flipped on the lights and looked around the room
Soon enough I found what I had been looking for, somewhere in the closet was a wooden box, the box was locked up but it has been what I was looking for, I remembered that the documents had been kept in a wooden safe of some sort, it had to be this.
"Don't let anyone come in" I said to Leo, he simply nodded his head and stood at the entrance of the door, the box looked dusty and cracked but I couldn't be bothered, I was only interested in the contents of the box.
The box had a lock and key, a key I didn't have nor did I know exist, I looked around for anything that could be of help, the wood was mahogany and sturdy, it would take something to pry it open and I didn't have the time for that
"Leo, your gun" I said, my fingers stretched outwardly beckoning him over, he came then pulled his gun from the holster and handed it over to me, I wasn't comfortable holding a gun around when I was at home, it was just my preference.
I took the gun then positioned the box in an awkward angle, I aimed at where the lock was making sure I wouldn't damage any of the document, then I shot at it, the wood splintered in several directions but luckily none injured me, I turned back to him and handed his gun back.
"Well let's see what's in here" I said, I lifted the splinted lid of the box and saw several documents, they were arranged carefully and in order but my eyes caught something in particular, all the documents were labeled for each purpose.
Looking at it, a blue spiral binded document read two words that made me smile darkly 'Genovesse Family'. I quickly picked it up and placed the box under the bed, I sat on the bed and licked my finger tips then looked back at Leo to make sure he still stood where he was.
"Shall we" I said to myself, then began reading, while I read through the documents it made me realize how easy my plan was going to be, there were no incriminating documents or illegal activities stated in the documents.
It was simply a debt, but it wasn't a small amount, not in any way, the branch family of the Genovesse had met my parents twenty years ago and burrowed a huge sum of money, it wasn't a loan with interest, just simply lending money, it was stated in the documents that the amount was to be paid back in full in the next seventeen years from the date written in the document.
Which meant that it's been three years the debt has been due, my parents had died around that same time not that it had anything to do with them but now after three years i could very well request that interest be applied, the amount burrowed was ten million dollars, after thinking for a moment I decided to add ab extra two million knowing they wouldn't be able to pay that amount.
I stood up while holding the document in hand and stretched before walking out of the room
"Boss, did you find anything?" Leo asked curiously, "Of course I did, something really interesting, this is going to be fun" I said, Leo followed behind me as we left my parents room and headed towards mine.
After we got into my room I looked at Leo and held up the document for him to see "See this? It's proof of their debt to us, I bet they felt it would be forgotten after my parents died, I found it weird that I didn't know about this deal but it seemed that it was made in secrecy" I said.
"Wouldn't it be weird if a branch house of a great family burrowed money to another branch house of a great family, it would be a disgrace and that's why they hid, the problem is why did they bother, I'm not familiar with the deal and neither was I there then, hell I was just ten years old but I guess I could always get my answers from Roberto instead" I said
"So when are you going to start moving?" Leo asked, I looked a bit thoughtful about it, "Soon, very soon".
"There's no need wasting time about it when I could just start, the longer I wait the more interest I'll loose" I said to Leo, he nodded approvingly.
I yawned for a bit, "I'm tired Leo, I'm going to bed, tomorrow we'll go and pay a visit to Roberto and his family " I said smiling to myself.
"Have a good night sir" Leo said before excusing himself from the room and left, feeling exhausted I took off my clothes and went to the bathroom, I washed my hands and face before going to bed.
Marie's POV
"Please put on your seatbelts, the plan is about to take off" the pilot said from the pit, I sat into my seat comfortably brimming with excitement, it had been four years since I had left New York and now I was going back, back to my family and my father.
The plane slowly took off from Chicago Airport, I had come here to school for the past four years, my father had not allowed me to come back till i was done and noe that i had graduated last week, it was timr for me to head back home.
"Do you need anything?" A flight attendant asked me, I smiled at her and shook my head, I wasn't feeling particularly hungry or thirsty, and even if I was, I'm too excited to eat anything.
The flight was going to take about an hour and a half so I decided to catch some sleep before then, I reached out into the back of the seat in front of me and pulled out an eye mask for sleeping, I gently placed in on my eyes and relaxed in before sleeping off.
After I woke up the plan was in decent, I looked outside the window and noticed the beautiful city of New York from above, I stretched out in my seat feeling relatively better, I placed the sleeping mask back and prepared myself.
Before I boarded the plane, I had been thinking of my little brother Dante, the last time I was him he had just become a teenager and was way smaller than me so the thoughts of seeing him now and how much he had grown left me excited.
The plane came to a stop and the passengers unboarded the plan one after the other, after I had gotten down, I looked around searching for who came to pick me up.
"Marie! Marie Genovesse" I heard a voice call out to me, some people looked at me with cautious eyes stepping back as I walked while others seemed completely unbothered by it, I looked at the driver calling my name and eyes him with disdain.
"Refrain from calling my last name" I said to the man, he looked to be in his thirties and I didn't remember someone like him but then again, it had been four years.
"Uuuhhm, yes ma'am" he said before bowing slightly and picking up my luggage, he carried them and placed them in the boot of the Mercedes before he opened the door for me to get inside, I still felt the watchful eyes of people who knew the meaning of my last name.
I usually don't like to inform people if my origin or having them find out that I'm from a branch of one of the greatest Mafia families in New York City, the Genovesse family, although not much is known about us, the name was very familiar amongst the civilians on New York City.
"Why didn't my father come?" I asked him trying to distract myself from my thoughts, "Well the Boss said he would be expecting a guest very soon, so he has to prepare and he couldn't make it" he replied
"What about my brother, Dante" I pushed.
"The young master isn't around at the moment, he said he would be going out to get some things" the driver replied, I gave up asking anymore questions and sat quietly at the back and watched the view from my window as we drove away from the airport back towards my house.
"It's good to be back" I said to myself while feeling nostalgia as I watched the familiar roads of New York City.
Marie's POVIn about an hour I arrived in my house and shifted about excitedly as the gates to my house opened, the intricate designs and artistry of the gate still left me stunned as it had years ago.The driver drove up to the entrance of the house where the steps lead up to the door, at the door stood an old man with a towering height, the man smiled deeply as he saw the car pull up to where he stood and gently walked down, immediately the car stopped I jumped out from it and ran towards my father hugging him as tightly as possible."Hey now, I am an old man Marie" her father said back as he embraced his daughter, they stood there locked in each other's hands for a little more than a moment."I missed you so much Daddy" I said to him whilst I wiped the tears from my face, he chuckled as he held me, his voice sounded deep and reassuring, making me feel even more at peace. He held me at arms length then turned me around in a circle, "You've grown so much" because holding my arms tigh
Mancini's POVI looked around the hallway observing the men that stood around us, I had decided to visit Roberto today and begin my plan but there was a beautiful woman, standing by his side, holding onto his arm.Something in me didn't like that, I wanted that for myself, I wanted her, I thought fondly, well if the situation ever arose where I could then I would, without hesitation.Turning my attention back to the man she held, "Roberto, it's been too long, I've missed you" I said in a charming voice, Roberto nodded at me as we both shook hands."Good evening," I heard the beautiful woman beside me say. I turned my attention to her, giving her the warmest smile I could muster as I took her hands in mine and kissed them."I didn't know you had such a beauty, Roberto," I said looking directly into her eyes, for some reason, she looked away from me, her complexion seemingly a shade of pink."Aahh, yes, she was in school and now she's done," Roberto said, his voice sounding a bit stiff
Marie's POVA growing unsettlement dwelled within me. For some reason leaving my father alone in the room with that man seemed a bit off-putting.But my father was the Head of the family. He had his rights for private discussion no matter his age. But more and more I felt the need to reach out and know exactly what they were talking about.Call it curiosity, but I couldn't stop thinking about it.“You may go and rest Heiress. We'll take care of everything and besides, you're just coming back from your travels” a voice beside me spoke.I turned and looked at him a bit confused. Obviously, I didn't know him, but it was my understanding that guards weren't so… Conservative.I smiled at him after taking his consideration into mind. Or my skin being torn, and my flesh pierced with bullet holes.I simply felt nothing. If anything, I felt even more at ease.“PLEASE BUCKLE YOUR SEATBELTS”.I heard from an overhead speaker. I blinked my eyes open. Looking around I thought I was dreaming. No, I had to be dreaming. I still hadn't seen Dante, my brother, but that was fine.I knew he was okay.“But are you sure you're okay?” My father asked. Squeezing my arm a light tightly. I nodded at him and pulled him away from the entrance.I was confused at this point. I didn't want my father to think I was nearing insanity if I told him that I had lived through this day. He wouldn't believe me.No one would.I swallowed hard as I realized that the lives of everyone depended on me. But I needed to know if there was something my father wasn't telling me. Something dangerous enough to get him and everyone else here killed.“Can we go to your privy?” I coaxed him gently. Marie's POV The silence hung heavy in the air. It almost felt like I couldn't breathe. My Pam's grew sweaty with anticipation and worry. My father hadn't said anything. He still seemed disillusioned, unwilling to talk or look in my direction.I bent low and whispered into his ears.“Please Father, we'll discuss later but for now, let's get this over with.
