Chapter 99: The Enemy's Visit

I jerked up like I had seen a beast in my dreams

"What's wrong?"

Sleeping for more than twelve hours had me almost in panic. I looked from the wall clock to Lois.

"Why didn't you wake me up? It's almost 12 pm. I've been sleeping for twelve hours." I whispered, too weak to speak loudly.

"You looked like you needed it. Bryan left here two hours ago to check on you. He told me not to wake you up and allow you to get more rest."

The back hurts as I try to stretch. "My body still aches." I complained. "And I'm famished."

"You should get up and eat." Lois offered. "After that you can go out for a walk. I think you'll feel better afterwards."

Without hesitating I flipped the comforter aside and jumped out of bed. "I should shower first."

"I got you a new toothbrush. It's on the cabinet in the bathroom."
