With the encouragement of the girls, I brought the map outside so that Saple could see where we were going. Veronica knew the importance of our ride knowing the way. Gale had said using the dragon was the only way they would make it back in time to save the father monster.

Saple looked at it for a long moment. Then he snorted and tossed his head. The movement ended with a sneeze.

“I remember the great war that claimed those lands because I fought in them. That was long ago.” Saple explained in a knowing voice that made him sound especially wise. “There is a nearby fort we should visit. It was once a thriving metropolis and is sure to have the answer to fighting the keeper.”

    When I woke up, I was confused for a few minutes about where I was and what was happening. Everything looked weird. All the colors around me were so much brighter and the darkness had much more depth.I didn’t understand. But there was an important mission that we came here for that needed my attention right now.
