He was the closest thing he had to a real father considering his biological father’s distaste for him, so he trusted him with much more than he would most other wolves. Their fights had continued until he and Malcolm found themselves facing each other in the final match. He considered conceding, but he could see the challenge in Malcolm’s wolfish face. The male would be offended if he stepped down, now. So they fought. It was his first challenging battle for the day and though Malcolm was not as fit or strong as he was, he certainly was much smarter during their fight than the other opponents had been.
