I stop at the edge of the parking lot of the OverNite inn, taking a second to catch my breath. I had literally just run ten miles with two children strapped to my back. The twins weren’t very happy right now, but there wasn’t much I could do. I was finally here though, and I pulled my phone out and opened Lucas’s contact. I call him, waiting anxiously for him to pick up. “Hey, you okay?” I sigh in relief when he answers. “Yeah, I’m outside.” I hear him make a confused noise, and my eye is drawn to one of the ground level floors of the motel as the curtains are drawn from the inside. I hang up the phone and approach the room, eager to get the twins off me. “What the hell are you doing here?” Lucas asks the second he opens the door. I roll my eyes a little and step into the room, sighing in relief when I finally get to sit down on the edge of the bed. Lucas closes the door and crosses his arms, obviously waiting for me to explain. “I found where Sebastain is keeping Killian. Bu
Lucas drives me as far as he can to Sebastain’s lands, and I walk the rest of the way. I was glad, because running here the first time with the twins on my back had been a pain in the ass. He didn’t seem like he wanted to let me go, and it was sweet that he was so worried about me, but I had a purpose now. And that purpose was to find out what the hell Sebastain was up to and why there were so many coincidences piling up around him. I wanted to know how he knew May, if he even knew her at all because all of this was just speculation at this point. Lucas knew she came to his pack, but that didn’t mean she was coming to see him for sure. There were lots of people in Sebastain’s pack, and she could’ve been seeing any of them. I had been nervous as hell when I creeped back in the house just as the sun started to pierce the sky, the twins knocked out cold against my back. I was terrified Sebastain was going to be awake, waiting for me or in a furious rage at my absence. But he was liter
I have thirty wolves so far that are willing to oppose Sebastain’s pack.I’m currently sitting in the bathtub, soaking while I text Lucas from my still secret phone. It had been sixteen hours since I’d snuck out, and so far, Sebastian seemed to be none the wiser. He had slept for another eight hours the day I had medicated him, than left a couple guards outside so he could go get some pack stuff done. I had half expected him to come back angry, having found out I’d found Killian and left his pack, but he came back totally normal, telling me about some pack member who was failing at their job. I haven’t seen Alice since I told her I heard Sebastain talking to another woman on the phone late at night, and that was okay, because she wasn’t my favorite person right now. I suspected she was very, very two faced, and wouldn't be surprised to hear she’s been playing me this entire time. I was feeling a little foolish for telling her so much and letting her get so close to my kids. Especia
“So who’s in charge of all your guards?” I ask as Sebastain leads me down a trail through the woods. We had ended up leaving the twins with a couple guards and a maid, because he couldn’t get ahold of Alice. I had felt a little weird leaving my kids with strangers, but the maid at the very least seemed overjoyed to be around the charming twins. Me telling Alice that Sebastain was talking to another woman really seemed to get under her skin, because I hadn’t seen or heard from her since then. I had suspected her feelings for him already, but now I was picturing her stabbing a voodoo doll made of his hair in some candle-lit room while she casts curses. She seemed a little… possessive maybe? Definitely more than a little intense. “Well, my Beta Tanner oversees a lot of them, but he has a few trusted wolves under him he delegates some of his duties to as well, just like I do with him.” He shrugs a little as he answers my question. I think back. I had only met Tanner a couple of times
I sat on my living room couch, the entire house quiet.I had come home with Sebastain, who had left quickly once he’d walked me inside to take care of whatever committee stuff he had. I had asked the two guards and the maid who had been watching the twins if they could take them outside for a little, maybe go on a walk. One of the guards was clearly flirting with the maid, so they all agreed to go, those two a bit more eagerly than the glum looking third wheel. I wanted a minute alone to try and talk to my wolf. I hadn’t talked to her in a few years now, and honestly it’s hard for me to pinpoint when she stopped talking and coming out. Although if I was really honest with myself, it was around the time I met Killian and turned away my destined mate for him. I had never asked how she felt about it, and I was starting to think that had been my first mistake. Wolves and their human counter parts are not the same soul. We’re two entirely different souls sharing one body, able to turn be
I close the door to the twin’s room quietly behind me after putting them down for the night. I stretch my ears out to listen if I could hear Sebastian in the house. As if he knew I was looking for him, I heard a chair scrape in the kitchen and he came around the corner.“They asleep?” He asks. I nod, moving away from the door and coming towards him. “Tell me about your day.” He says, pulling a chair at the table out for me as he sits across from me. I feel my heart warm at the weirdly domestic moment we were sharing right now. “Uhm… well. I talked to my wolf, finally.” I smile a little and flick my eyes up to meet his. His expression changes into one of excitement and I feel my stupid heart skipping a beat. “Did you really? What did you guys talk about? Do you know why she left you in the first place?” I feel my face heating up in a blush at his last question and I awkwardly scratch the back of my neck. “Well… we mostly just talked about everything she had missed.” I say, trying
The next couple of days I spent looking for a key to Killians prison. Despite the constant distractions Sebastian was throwing at me, I hadn’t forgotten why I had come back in the first place. Killian was my ex husband, my cheating one, but he had been manipulated and lied to just like I had, and I couldn’t just leave him locked up because he was an idiot who thought with the head in his pants instead of the one on his shoulders. For all I knew Sebastian was planning on keeping him locked up forever, just to spite him for stealing his mate. I searched his office as often as I could, but I was only able to glance around when he asked me to bring him something, or dig through a drawer when he asked me to grab him some document. My searches were fleeting and brief, but hadn’t found anything yet. Despite the fact that I was plotting against him, he seemed to be trusting more and more. He no longer had the two guards standing by the front door whenever he left, and I hadn’t seen Alice
“What the hell are you doing here?” I scoff at May. I hadn’t seen her since I had gotten kicked out of Killians pack, and I knew one thing for sure had changed since then: I wasn’t near as broken. I felt no need to pretend to be nice to her like I’d once had to do. “I could ask you the same thing.” She says with a smirk, looking at the padlocked door. “ I guess you were the one who broke it in the first place, huh?” She asks with a raised brow. I feel myself panicking a little. How long had she been here? How much did she know? My first break in had been days ago, he hadn’t been here the entire time, had she? “I really don’t understand why you’re here.” I say, eyeing May as she walks closer to me. I narrow my eyes in on her, watching her every move. I don’t like this woman. I hear my wolf say in my head. I completely agree. While Alice was in the junior leagues of homewrecking, May seems to be a professional at it. I felt like she’d manipulated both me and Killian, and we had pla
