“You came, Killian”, a little girl said, coming to hug him. She looked about eight years old.
“I told you I was coming Kaeli”, he replied, hugging her tightly.
“Shaila, look who came by,” she said to a girl who looked just a bit older than her—her sister.
“It's been a long time Killian, where have you been?” Shaila asked.
“I went to Italy with my mom and dad for a two-month vacation”.
“That sounds so cool. Why didn't you take me?” Kaeli asked.
“I wanted to Kaeli, but my mom said you couldn't come”.
“I missed you so much Killian, don't you ever leave me again”.
“I won't Kaeli, I promise”.
“Why do you call her Kaeli? Her name is Mayeli”, Shaila said.
“Her name is Kaeli too, and I prefer it to Mayeli”.
“Just say Mayeli”, Sophia said, laughing.
“It's time to go, Mr Killian, you're running late for your piano lesson”, a tall man, who looked like his bodyguard said.
“I don't want to go, I want to stay with Kaeli”, little Killian protested.
“I'm sorry young master, but we have to leave now”, his bodyguard said.
Shaila and Kaeli walked him to his car.
“When would I see you again Killian?” Mayeli asked with a teary voice.
“I'd come back for you Mayeli, I promise!”
“Mayeli!” Killian mumbled. His eyes flickered open. He had been dreaming again. It came every night.
Most times he forgot the events that took place in his dreams, along with the people and their names, but today he remembered a name. Mayeli.
He had lost his memories after a fatal car accident that had almost taken his life when he was seventeen. It was the major reason his parents had sent him to Harvard. They felt England would be too traumatizing for him. They had suggested a clean break.
His memories had started returning in tiny fractions, but he still had a long way to go. They mostly came in his dreams, and he rarely remembered them when he woke up. He was still asking himself if the Mayeli from his dream was still the same Mayeli he knew now when he caught a pair of angry eyes staring at him.
“Mayeli?” Laura asked angrily.
He had forgotten she was in his bed. She had come over last night to spend it with him.
“Forget about it”, he mumbled, pushing her off his body, and getting up. It was just 3 am, he noticed.
“Do you have another mistress?” Laura's high-pitched voice asked.
“You were never the only one, that was made clear”.
“I know, but did you have to take on a new one? Mayeli or whatever you call her. You even called her name in your sleep”.
“Don't you dare call Mayeli a mistress”, he glared. Anger was surging through him now.
Laura looked at him in disbelief.
“What are you trying to say Killian?”
“Take it however you want!”
“Fine, I'm sorry babe, I overacted”, she said, coming to rub his chest.
“It's Killian”, he said, taking off her hands, and heading out of the room. She just had a way of always being annoying.
“I'm sorry, Killian”, she called after him.
“I want you out of here first thing in the morning”.
Hours later, he sat in his office going through some important files he was in a very foul mood.
He was reading a single document over and over again when his office door flew open. Laura walked in, dressed in a black, short, body hug dress that exposed her cleavages and thighs to a great deal. His secretary ran after her, giving him an apologetic smile.
He dismissed his secretary, and went back to reading through the documents, ignoring Laura.
She walked to his back, placing a kiss on his cheek.
“I'm sorry Killian”.
“It's fine”.
“Do you forgive me?”
“Yes. Now leave me the fuck alone”.
“I will soon”. She bent down to place a kiss on his lips, her bright red lipstick left a stain.
He tried to push her away, but she sat down on his lap, kissing deeper.
“Don't you want me?” She mumbled, pulling him closer.

Mayeli stood in front of Soter's group, taking in a deep breath. She had been here only the day before, but the large, skyscraper still managed to intimidate her.
As much as she wanted to avoid coming here, she had no choice. She got a letter this morning from the court, informing her that the first hearing had been moved to the next day instead of the next week, as earlier agreed. They had given an apology and a vague explanation.
So here she was. She had come to collect some important documents, concerning the case. She always liked being super prepared.
She was wearing a well-tailored, light blue, Everlane, oversizing suit with a white non-button blouse inside. On her feet was a pair of blue Zara heels, and her ears and neck were adorned with matching silver jewellery. She had let her blonde hair fall in wavy coils down her waist and applied little make-up. She looked gorgeous.
She smoothed her trousers and walked into the building.
As usual, the reception was crowded with people making calls, walking around, and attending to clients. The interior design made it obvious that you had walked into a billion-dollar company. A sophisticated one at that.
“When she reached Killian's office on the twenty-fourth floor, she was already fidgeting. She wondered why he still had this effect on her.
“Good Ms Mayeli, good to see you again”, Gina, his pretty secretary said, when she saw her.
“Good to see you too, is he in?”
“Yes, but I think his a little busy”.
“It's quite urgent, and I won't take much of his time”. Mayeli gave the other woman a pleading smile.
“Give me a sec”.
Gina took the phone, and after one ring, muttered a few, swift low words to Killian.
“You can go in”, Gina said.
Mayeli gave the door a small knock, before pushing it open.
Killian was standing awkwardly in the middle of the office, wearing a Navy blue Brioni suit that perfectly outlined his features. His hair was in a rough mess, falling slightly on his face. He looked sexy and handsome of course.
Mayeli was about to mumble a greeting when she saw the woman by his side. The lady was quite tall and pretty, with shoulder-length, raven black hair. Her amber eyes scanned Mayeli intently.
Mayeli took in the scene. Killian was standing awkwardly, moving his weight from one foot to another while the lady was standing very close to him, her face looking flushed and her hair a bit dishevelled. Heidi concluded something had been going on before she came in.
“I can leave if you're busy”, Mayeli said to Killian”, in a strained voice. She tried to conceal the hurt she felt building in her chest, but her shaky voice betrayed her.
“You said it was urgent”, Killian's calm voice said, holding no hint of emotion.
“I can wait outside for a while”.
A dark look crossed his eyes before he answered her in his normal, calm, cold voice.
“You can stay Mayeli. We'll finish up another time. Get out Laura”.
Mayeli gasped at how rude he was to the lady. The lady ignored Killian and turned to her.
“So she's Mayeli, the one you called in your sleep. She's much better than I expected”, she said to Killian.
Killian gave her a bored look, like was used to her drama, then his eyes fixed on Mayeli, raking her body in a way that made her heart go shoot!
“Why do you look like you've seen a ghost?” He asked in a placid voice.
“Why were you calling my name my name in your sleep?”
“Fuck! Killian muttered glaring at Laura.
Mayeli's thoughts were running wild. Why had he been calling her name in his sleep? Did he like her too, or perhaps did he remember her? After lunch yesterday with his friends, she had come to terms with the fact that she still loved Killian. She could never let go of him. But now here he was confusing her again. First, he was making out with another woman, in broad daylight in his office, and now he was calling her name in his sleep? Killian was one complex man, she had to admit.Who was she to judge him though? She was dating Nixen, and she had been doing things with him. Not in the sex department, but they had kissed and made out several times, to be honest almost every time. Still! She was so fucken jealous right now.The first time Nixen had kissed her, she had waited for the fire. That fire that burned through her veins when Killian touched her. He didn't even need to kiss her to light her up. With Nixen it was just sweet and ordinary, but with Killian…“It wasn't you”. Killian
“Bry, do you want more juice?” Mayeli asked her two-year-old daughter. They had spent the night in Nixen's mansion, and now they were having breakfast in his large dining room, overlooking the poolside. Nixen's mansion was breathtaking. It consisted of six large bedrooms, two large, spacious living rooms with high ceilings and lovely chandeliers hanging down, a game room, a rooftop pool, and a large. The walls were painted garden. The walls were painted a lovely shade of cream, giving the house a homey feel.“No”, she pouted. She was all dressed for school, and her curly black hair was packed in a ponytail. She looked super cute as always with her pouty face.“Can I know why baby, are you okay? Did mummy do something wrong?”She looked at Nixen for support.“What's wrong, my love?” Nixen asked. He always made an effort to be the perfect father figure Bryelle needed even if she hadn't told him who her biological father was, and Mayeli appreciated that fact.“Uncle Nixen won't bring Unc
“The case is hereby dismissed”, the judge said.“We won!” Kreed screamed doing a crazy dance. Mayeli gave him a “what a baby” look, gathering her things. She looked around for Killian for probably the hundredth time, but he was nowhere to be found. She sighed disappointed. So he hadn't even bothered to show up.“Since we won, I'm buying you lunch”, she said, walking away.“You must be in a perfect mood”, Kreed replied, when he had caught up with her.“I buy lunch all the time Kreed”.“Yeah like once in two months”.“Whatever”.A few minutes later, they were seated in one of her favourite restaurants.“How's Sonia doing?” Mayeli asked. Sonia was Kreed's girlfriend, a doctor at one the biggest hospitals in England.“Great. She misses you a lot. She would have today but had too many patients”. “I'd try coming around next weekend”.“Can I ask you something Mayeli?” Kreed’s tone sounded serious, making her worry a bit.“Sure. What is it?”“Do you like Nixen?”Mayeli choked on her pineappl
Mayeli sat on one of the benches scattered around the children's park, watching Bryelle play with the other kids. Her mind was on Killian. For a moment, she had thought he had forgotten her, and it had pained her deeply. Now she knew he didn't forget her, she didn't know how to feel. One part of her was happy and the other was scared. What if he found out about Bryelle? She had promised her mother that she would tell him about Bryelle when it was time, but today, he had thrown that question at her, and she had outrightly denied his claims. Why? She didn't know. What would she say to her baby when she was old enough to ask questions? Would she shield her child from her father? Her relationship with Killian was already a very complicated one. She didn't think it was necessary to add more complications to it. What was she thinking two years ago?She tucked her curly blonde hair behind her ear. She was Mayeli, the stunning, gorgeous lady. Brooding about a man was not something she did of
“Have you been here?” She asked, biting on her sexy lower lips.Killian couldn't take his eyes off the beautiful woman before him. “Yes, I watched you walk into the mall”, he replied truthfully. He had been shopping with Nixen and Bryelle when she walked into the mall with her friend.Nixen and Bryelle hadn't seen her because they were too distracted arguing about what each other's ice cream was made of.He silently excused himself from his company and followed her at a distance. He knew he should be staying away from her, but he couldn't.His jaws had almost dropped when he saw her in the dress she was wearing now. It showed off every perfection of her gorgeous body, and he couldn't stop staring. When she had gone to find the mirror, he gave her friend and the attendant his best charming smile, muttering a vague reason for wanting to see her. It walked though, as always. He had no idea why he followed her, but he didn't regret his decision.“Why did you follow me?” She asked, toilin
“Mummy, meet Uncle Killian”, Bryelle said to Mayeli, pulling her to where Killian was standing, still and perfect as ever. She could see amusement in their eyes as he watched Bryelle, but as he turned to her, his gaze went cold.“I've met him, baby, he's kinda my boss at the office”.Killian gave her a quizzical look, and she almost laughed remembering the last time they had argued about him not being her boss.“Great. I invited him to lunch, and he agreed. You have to join us”, Bryelle said, giving her a serious little face.“Bryelle…I”.“You shouldn't disappoint your little girl”, Killian said, cutting her off. He looked somewhat angry. Sexy and angry! What the fuck was wrong. He had just complimented her lovingly a few minutes ago. Was this dude bipolar or something?“Fine”, she grumbled. Diora gave her a knowing look.Diora had gushed over Killian a few minutes ago. She kept describing his looks, his voice, his hair, and probably everywhere else she could see. “Did you hear his vo
The next morning, when Mayeli woke, she had a bad headache. She had barely slept last night. Her mind was on the text message she received. Was it Killian? Was he trying to black mail her about the fact that he had found out Bryelle was his? He was the only one who knew about two years ago.How could he? She thought angrily. She thought she could at least trust him, but he had disappointed her. He had stooped too low, and she wasn't going to let it slide.Today was the fourth day of the week, and she was already exhausted. She badly wanted it to come to an end, though she didn't look forward to the party this weekend. She was not a lover of social gatherings. Nixen had promised to introduce her to all his friends, and the thought of it already bored her out.She sighed. Right now, Nixen's party was not her problem. Killian was.We went to the bathroom for a shower. When she was done, she dressed up in a flay, high-waist, dark-orange skirt, and a tucked in dark-green, sleeveless V-neck
Mayeli stared at him like he had gone knots. “You came for me? After sending that message. You have the nerve to show yourself to me?” she yelled. People were turning towards that direction, but she didn't care.“I didn't send the message,” he said, raising his brow slightly. His blue eyes looked angry.“Are you going to keep denying it?”“Why are you so certain it's me?” He ran his hands through his lovely hair, letting out a frustrated sigh.“Because only you and me fucken know about two years ago”.“You said your baby was not the product of the affair, so why does it bother you so much? Besides, I'm a celebrity. People follow me around. Someone else might have seen us enter the hotel”.“Please, don't give me that bullshit explanation. And I'm bothered because it fucken hurts to be threatened by you”.“I didn't do it, Mayeli!” His voice was raised now, and she could tell he was getting angry, but she didn't care.“Stop fucking denying it!”“Fine. I did it”, he mumbled in a broken v
Mayeli sat by the pool of her hotel with her elder sister, Shaila, enjoying the warmth of the sun. Shaila was wearing an orange H&M bikini, while Mayeli was wearing a black one. They had both packed their long hair into a high messy bun.The children were with their grandmother so they had little free time on their hands.Shaila was tall and beautiful just like Mayeli, but with long, straight black hair instead. She had taken my father's hair colour, while Mayeli had taken my mom's.She had an oval-shaped face with high cheekbones, a pointed nose, and dreamy grey eyes just like my mom’s. She exuded a jovial and charismatic aura that drew people to her, and as a renowned model and fashion designer, it helped her career a great deal. Mayeli loved her sister dearly, but their busy schedules and distance prevented them from hanging out often. They cherished the few occasions they could be together like this.Shaila was married to an Italian, handsome actor, Petro, and they had two kids.
“Mom, can Uncle Killian come with us?” Bryelle asked, giving Mayeli a baby face.“What?” “Can Uncle Killian come with us?” She repeated.Mayeli shared a look with her mom, speechless. She didn't know how to tell her baby that her request was impossible to grant.Mayeli, Bryelle, and her Mom are seated on her king-sized bed, laid with cream sheets, in her spacious peach-coloured bedroom. Everything about the room is painted cream and peach, giving it a homey feel.Bryelle is turning three in a week, so Mayeli decided to go on a two-week vacation to Croatia with her mom and Bryelle. She just announced the news to both of them.“He can't my, love, he has a lot of work to do”, Mayeli's Mom replies to Bryelle.Mayeli gave her mom a grateful smile, but got a stern smile that said “How long would you keep this a secret?” She sighed, and looked away, not in the mood for one of mothers constant rebukes.“When are we leaving?” Her mom asked.“Tomorrow”, Mayeli replied brightly.“Yey!” Bryelle
“Hey Tyse”, Nixen said casually, shaking hands with him.Mayeli stared at them, shocked. Tyse is a renowned multi-billionaire. Yeah, Nixen is, rich, but not up to Tyse, Truce, and Killian's level.“How're you doing bro”, Tyse beamed. There's a bright, genuine smile on his face, but Nixen's smile looks forced. Mayeli wondered why.“I'm good. It's a pleasant surprise to see you here”.“I brought Mayeli, but I'm on my way now”.Mayeli noticed Nixen's hands tighten around the bags he was holding. His smile evaporated.“Oh, I see”, Nixen mumbled, glancing at Mayeli.“I better get going”, Tyse said. He had probably noticed the change of expression.“I'll walk you to your car”, Mayeli said, following Tyse.“I think walking me to my car was a bad idea. Nixen didn't look happy about the fact that I brought you”, Tyse said, running his hands through his hair. Gosh, he was so handsome. After Killian, he was the finest man Mayeli had ever seen.“It's fine. You only helped”, She reassured him. So
Mayeli stared at Killian. How could he? How could he do that to Diora, while making out with her?He kept a nonchalant expression, showing no signs of guilt. “What did you do to her?”He looked at her with something close to anger and irritation. “I didn't do anything, Mayeli”.Truce looked at both of them.“Am I missing something here?” Truce asked.“I don't know, ask her?” Killian yelled.Truce turned to Mayeli. “What's wrong, Mayeli?”“Ask your friend”, she screamed, walking away. She saw Truce throw her a quizzical look, and then swiftly ask Killian what was happening. She waited for Killian to reply, but she heard nothing other than a banged door. She hissed and entered the elevator. So, he had made good his threats. She thought of reporting him to the authorities, but she had no proof yet, plus she didn't want the circumstances surrounding Mayeli's birth to go public. Of Course, surely it would if she reported the matter to the authorities. It involved two prominent figures a
Killian stared at Mayeli’s stubborn expression, not knowing what to do. She looked a bit scared by his words, but she maintained a defiant look. She had a face that reminded him of Becky G.She bit on her full, lower lips, and pouted stubbornly. “I hardly deserve a beating for using your toilet”, she pointed out.“Against my will”.“It's just a toilet”. She folded her arms and sat on his bed. “You look gorgeous in white and black though”.His eyes bulged at the socket. What did she just say?She stood up from the bed and walked to where he stood, planting her small frame in front of him. She had a coquettish smile on her face. Gosh! She was tempting him.“Maybe I can handle your anger, so bring it on”. He stared at her slightly apart, pulp, pink lips, and a sensation ran through him.He was certain it was the alcohol talking, but it didn't stop him from feeling the day he was feeling. He turned away from her and walked towards his balcony. He wasn't sure he could resist her when she w
Mayeli edged through the crowd in search of Killian. She had been asking herself several times why she was looking for him, but she couldn't find an answer. When she couldn't see him anywhere, she gave up. She stood in the shadows silently watching the party and sipping wine. She was starting to feel lightheaded from all the wine she had consumed. She felt the urge to pee and headed to find the restroom. For fuck sake, where would she find one in this large house, she wondered. She took the elevator and pressed the third floor, though she wasn't sure where that lead. Build least, she could escape from the noise of the party for a while. When the elevator door opened, she walked down the hallway stretched in front of her, looking for anything that looked like a restroom. Her feet felt wobbly, and she quickly gripped the nearest door handle for support. The door gave way, and she stumbled into a large room. The walls were painted a lovely shade of charcoal green. A large king-size bed w
Mayeli felt apprehensive as she packed her Audi in front of the party venue. Gosh, just how big was this house? She wondered. Whoever owned the place must be swimming in six figures, she reckoned. The building was painted white. It had huge, finely crafted pillars in front of it and a large fountain at the centre. Everything about the house spoke affluence from the interior design to the fleet of cars packed in the garage.Mayeli checked her Rolex. She was thirty minutes late, and from the sound of voices and music emanating from the mansion, she was certain the party had started. She did this often, except when it was an important case in the courtroom.
