Unexpected Reunion

“Come in”, Claudia's calm voice said from the other end.

She took another deep breath as she walked into Claudia's spacious office.

The office was of the best in the firm, located on the highest floor. It was painted a lovely shade of blue and white, and its glass walls overlooked the city of Bristol. You could lose yourself by just staring through those walls.

Mayeli sat in front of Claudia's large oak table, waiting for her to finish her phone conversation.

Claudia’s pretty, high-cheekboned face was twisted in concentration. Her short, curly, black hair fell in waves a little past her shoulders, bouncing slightly with each movement. It blended perfectly with her black, expensive-looking suit. She looked elegant.

“Mayeli darling, good to see you, it's been a while.

Mayeli threw her a polite smile. Claudia had always been very kind to her.

“It's good to see you too Claudia”.

“Okay, let's get to my reason for calling you. As you know, I was elected to represent Soter Group, in the last board meeting. Well, I'm currently working on a very important murder case that requires my full-time attention, so I was wondering if you could take up my workload for now. You can take the salary that comes with the responsibility too, and it would be good for your career”.

Mayeli shifted uncomfortably thinking of an excuse to give Claudia. The last thing she wanted to do was meet Killian. She was sure he would remember her since he had been drunk on the night of the Mayr ride, but she couldn't risk it. True, she had acted without precaution and had only wanted to satisfy her curiosity and maybe have a little fun with a past love, but the aftermath of that night had done more harm than good.

Not like she regretted having her baby. She hadn't just planned things to happen that way, and she didn't want Killian to think that she took advantage of him. Besides, she still cared about what he thought about her.

What would he think now if she showed up at his doorstep with a baby, claiming it was his? She couldn't bear to think of his reaction.

The Killian she had known before was loving, kind, and devoted. But that was a Killian from her past. She didn't know who this multi-billionaire was.

She cleared her throat, thinking of a solid excuse to give Claudia, but she was cut short.

“Mayeli darling, before you say no to me. Know that you're currently my best and only option, and I'm selfishly in great need of your help right now”.

Claudia's eyes were screaming the word no, but she couldn't voice it out. The warm, genuine smile the older woman was giving her, left her defenseless.

“Fine Claudia, but I hope I won't be working on it for too long”. She fought the urge to spank herself at the moment.

“Certainly my dear. We're going to be having a meeting with them right now, but the CEO won't be able to make it so his representative would be coming in his stead. Get ready, and meet me at the boardroom in thirty minutes”.

Claudia's voice was high-pitched with excitement, and relief.

Mayeli walked out of Claudia's office cursing silently. She was finally in a situation she had been desperately trying to avoid, all because she couldn't say a simple no to her superior.

At least she won't be meeting with him today, she comforted herself. She would be better prepared the next time she was going to meet him.

Thankfully, Kreed was gone when she reached her office. He had left a note saying he had signed off for the day, and a box of her favourite chocolate cookie was on her table to make up for her untouched lunch.

She smiled brightly. Kreed always had a way of making her feel cared for. She quickly wolfed down the cookie, adjusted her makeup, and headed for the boardroom.

When she got there, Claudia was already waiting.

Mayeli greeted her with a polite smile and sat down beside her as they waited for their guest.

A few minutes later, the door of the boardroom was thrown open, and a smiling Nixen walked in followed by, Killian!

Mayeli gulped, running her hands through her blonde hair as she tried to steady her racing heartbeat.

Claudia threw her a pleading “I'm sorry, I wasn't aware either” smile. She kinda knew about Mayeli and Killian's history.

Nixen looked surprised to see her, but his surprised look was quickly replaced by a loving smile.

His companion Killian looked about indifferent until his ocean-blue eyes rested on her. He looked shocked for a moment, then confused, and finally cold.

“Have we met before?” Killian asked, his voice deep and authoritative. She could listen to him forever.

Mayeli wanted to say something but her mouth won't open. She ran her hands through her hair again, staring at her nails. She couldn't bear to look at him. Talk about an embarrassing moment!

“I don't think so”, Nixen answered for her, looking quizzically at Mayeli.

“We haven't”, Mayeli mumbled.

“Okay, but you look very familiar. Maybe I was just mistaking you for someone else. I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable”, Killian said, taking a seat.

It pained Mayeli that he didn't even bother to remember her. Confusing her for someone else? Nice!

Claudia just looked around helplessly.

“Okay let's get to business, Claudia?”, Nixen's calm voice said, breaking the awkward silence in the room.

“Umm…so, Mayeli would be standing in for me to represent Soter Group. I have an important case I'm currently working on, and I trust she would be able to fare well under my guidance”, Claudia hastily said.

Killian turned to stare at Nixen, and Nixen gave him a reassuring nod.

The two men looked very much alike, Mayeli noticed.

Her already racing heartbeat picked up rhythm, as a thought formed in her head.

She quickly gulped down the glass of water in front of her, trying her best to focus on what Killian was saying.

“Is she the one you were talking about?” Killian asked Nixen, his perfect brow raised slightly.

“Yep”.

What were they talking about? Have they been having conversations about her?

“Okay, we'll try her out, brief her on the case, I need to go now. Let's talk when she has everything ready” Killian said, walking out of the room.

Nixen followed after him, leaving behind an exhausted Mayeli and a confused Claudia.

“I'm sorry, May, Nixen told me he wasn't coming”, Claudia said, giving her a pleading look.

“It’s fine”, Mayeli mumbled.

Deep down, she knew it was far from fine.

Killian stared through Nixen's glass office walls at the beautiful lady with long blonde hair as she walked to her black 2023 Audi Q5, with a pretty little girl that looked almost exactly like her. He was certain she was the woman he had met at the Opera two years ago.He looked the way her Olive green suit complimented her glowing, pale skin. Her lovely blonde hair was packed in a neat ponytail, highlighting her heart-shaped face. His mind went to a night two years ago when he had held her body naked in his arms. He could still remember her exotic scent. He had only feigned ignorance earlier because she seemed very uncomfortable with his presence, and Nixen seemed to have something for her. He didn't want to cause any problems. But he wasn't sure he could keep to that when it came to her.How could he forget her? He had thought about her frequently in the past two years. He tracked her down and waited patiently for the right time to meet her. But he never found her. And after all th

  • The Chemistry   Again!

Mayeli stared at the surprised face of Killian. Had he not expected her to come? She had purposely kept him waiting. He could keep up with that at least. She loved the way his eyes raked her body in a very sensual way, as though he was seeing her for the first time. She was wearing a little green, flowing evening gown, with the split coming to rest just above her thighs. On her feet were silver Zara heels and her hands held a matching silver Chanel purse. Her long carefully styled blonde hair fell in waves down to her waist. She had applied only a light make-up and put on a silver necklace with matching dangling silver earrings. In all, she looked stunning as always.“I…I umm, I didn't think you would come”, Killian managed to say after minutes of staring. She loved the way his not too overly simian black, LV shirt highlighted his perfect body, blending with his curly black hair that he had left to fall over his face, this evening. “You don't like the food?” Nixen's soft voice asked, breaking Mayeli from her deep thoughts. He was looking as stunning as always in a simple, expensive-looking, Navy-blue straight trousers and white shirt. His straight black hair was left to fall slightly on his face making him look more handsome. Three of his buttons were left undone, exposing his well-built tanned chest. He looked ravishingly hot!“I love it”, she replied, throwing him a quizzical look. Why had he asked? Her thoughts had been on the event of last night, and she had probably phased out without knowing. Tears burned her eyelids as she recalled the memory. Killian and she had made love so passionately, relishing each other's comfort, and for a moment, she thought they could probably work out. But he left without a note or a goodbye. He left her like a cheap whore. And still, she had stared at her iPhone 14 pro almost a thousand times today, waiting for a text from him. Mayeli stared at her reflection for probably the tenth time this morning. She was having her first official meeting with Killian as his company's legal representative. As much as she tried avoiding him, she couldn't. He just always had a way of getting under her skin. She was starting to miss him though. She hadn't seen for almost two weeks now, and strangely, it bothered her.She checked her reflection out again, wondering if she had overdressed. She was wearing a long, corporate, long-sleeved, body hug gown that stopped well past her knees. The front part, along with one of the sleeves was white, while the other was black. On her feet was a pair of white Jimmy Choo heels, while her hands held a matching white purse. She let her long, blonde hair fall in wavy curls down her waist, and applied light makeup. She looked perfect. She did a little crazy dance, satisfied with her look before going to the kitchen to get breakfast ready. She finished breakfast, dropped Bryelle off at schoo

Killian stared at Mayeli, trying his best to keep a neutral expression, but deep down, he was glad about how easily her body had reacted to his.He moved away from her and went to sit at his table. The tension in the office was a bit too intense. She continued her explanation, while he watched her. He had been mostly watching her from the beginning, but she had been too absorbed in the presentation to notice. And mostly, he was grateful for that.He couldn't get his mind off the image of her, getting down from her Audi Q5, and walking towards the building. She looked breathtaking. What was that you just said? How did he know? Of course, he had been watching her through his transparent glass wall.To be honest, he had been waiting for her. He still remembered how his heart raced when he set his eyes on her. She just seemed to always look alluring, exquisite, resilient, and graceful.Mayeli had a quality he never saw in any other woman, and it pulled him to her.“She was making out with

Killian's crew seemed to consist solely of billionaires.Tyse looked stunning in a well-tailored white suit, with a white shirt inside. He wasn't wearing a tie, and the first three buttons of his shirt were undone, making him look even sexier. From the look of things, his jet-black hair was quite long, and seeing it packed in a bun brought out the structure of his handsome face. He had a high cheekbone, and thin pink lips, with warm brown eyes that were currently on her.Killian sat beside Tyse, while Truce sat opposite them, gesturing for her to sit beside him. Which meant, she sat exactly opposite Killian. Quite heartwarming.Truce leaned over asking her if she was comfortable, and she nodded.Just like Killian and Tyse, he was stunning. Mayeli's thoughts were running wild. Why had he been calling her name in his sleep? Did he like her too, or perhaps did he remember her? After lunch yesterday with his friends, she had come to terms with the fact that she still loved Killian. She could never let go of him. But now here he was confusing her again. First, he was making out with another woman, in broad daylight in his office, and now he was calling her name in his sleep? Killian was one complex man, she had to admit.Who was she to judge him though? She was dating Nixen, and she had been doing things with him. Not in the sex department, but they had kissed and made out several times, to be honest almost every time. Still! She was so fucken jealous right now.The first time Nixen had kissed her, she had waited for the fire. That fire that burned through her veins when Killian touched her. He didn't even need to kiss her to light her up. With Nixen it was just sweet and ordinary, but with Killian…“It wasn't you”. Killian

He drew another one for himself and sat down beside her.Killian’s Doctor stared at them for a few minutes, not saying anything.“Speak,” Killian commanded, his voice cold and impatient. Mayeli sent a look, and he had the grace to look sorry for just a few seconds before his cold mask returned in place. She almost laughed, despite her tears and anxiety. It had been a while since she saw this cold and commanding side of Killian.Doctor Gail cleared his throat. “I've run several tests since the last surgery we just performed, and I think I should perhaps run more before I break this news to you.”Mayeli felt her hands trembling and when she looked, she saw it was actually Killian’s clasped over her's. Seeing her all covered in blood and looking lifeless on the floor, almost took the life out of her.“Maybe you should take her out for some fresh air?” Tyse said. “She’d do better with it.”“I’m not going anywhere. Not when my daughter is on the surgical table,” Mayeli snapped between hiccups.Mayeli knew Tyse was just trying to be helpful, but she was feeling very crappy at moment and she couldn’t help it. Plus, his suggestion may not be as helpful as he had thought.“Should I get you water or something?” Diora asked. Her voice sounded worried and scared.“Yes, please,” Killian replied. He was surprisingly calm, or was he just trying to be calm for her sake? Bryelle was precious to both of them, especially him, since he had only chest met her fully. Th

First, there was Bryelle, who was getting better, thankfully, but the Doctor said she had little chance of surviving the next two months. And then there was Killian and Shaila hating each other for some reason, which she had no idea about.A hand slipped around her waist, and she jumped, her back colliding with Killian’s broad chest. His sweet smell engulfed her, reminding her of musk and mist.“I didn’t hear you come in,” Mayeli said, smiling. His warmth spread over her body and along with it, hunger for him. No, nothing was going to happen to her baby, nothing was going to happen to Bryelle.“You said she had a 70% chance of healing. You said she could make it!” Mayeli screamed hysterically. Killian’s grip tightened around her.“Yes, I did say that, but the chances are slim at the moment. We’ve tried chemotherapy, but the tumours seem to be spreading rather than decreasing. At this point, she might be in serious pain soon, and if we continue treatment, it would only increase her pain”, the Doctor said, his face anxious and worried.“Are you asking us to give up?” Killian’s deep voice asked, betraying no emot
