Chapter 5: A job.

Rachel's point of view

My eyes sparkled, when Jane said something about a job offer.

“Yes, what is it?” I asked eagerly at the point I was willing to do anything.

I didn't want it to seem as if I was just at home mooching off her and refusing to work, even though I did my own fair share of house chores and I bought my own groceries. I still feel bad that I was staying in her house and not paying her any rent.

“My boss is looking for a new secretary and given how beautiful you are he will hire you,”Jane said as she looked at me from head to toe and nodded in approval.

I didn't like the look on her face,so I chuckled to hide my nervousness.

“What?”I asked in confusion and Jane chuckled.

“Rachel you scaredy cat, I was just joking, my boss is looking for a secretary and I told him about your situation and he agreed to hire you ,so you come for a job interview tomorrow,”Jane said.

“Really?”I asked happily.

“Yes,”She confirmed.

“Oh thank you so much." I thanked her with gladness in my heart, because I appreciated Jane a lot.

I went with Jane to her workplace and i was interviewed by Jane’s Boss, he was a nice and cheerful man and after his interview, i was given the job that very day and was told to begin my job tomorrow and i was so grateful that i thanked the boss non-stop and i even thanked Jane a lot for doing such a good thing for me.

Jane lent me some of her workout fits and I started my new job the next day. It was the best day of my life since this was the independence I craved.

I have been working at my new job for one week and even though starting to work again after being a housewife for years was new to me, it was very good and I also had good co-workers, so I didn't have a problem.

I was looking at some documents that I needed to submit to my boss, when I heard the footsteps of someone coming closer to me and I looked up and saw my boss and then the figure next to my boss made me freeze . What is my ex-husband Simon doing here?

I was surprised and then I remembered my boss told me he had an important guest today.

My boss and my ex-husband stopped in front of my desk and my ex-husband glared at me when he saw me.

“Have you gotten that desperate you follow me around, you filthy whore!" Simon yelled at me.

I didn't even know what to say at this point because I was baffled and surprised to see him here.

It hasn't even been up to the lean months we got divorced and he is already getting annoyed when he sees me. This was the man that I married for seven years and he is talking to me as if I was his enemy for a century.

“Sir, is something wrong, let's go to my office."My Boss told Simon.

I tried my best to keep a straight face and ignore what was going on since Simon came to see my boss. I need to be professional and not let my emotions show.

“Why is this woman here?" Simon, my ex husband, asked my boss who glanced at me and then back at Simon.

“She is my secretary, I was hired a week ago. Is there something wrong?”My boss asked.

“Well you should know that this woman is my ex- wife and I don't want to see her disgusting and ugly face anywhere around me!" Simon sneered at me, but he was talking to my boss and my boss' mouth hung open in shock.

I don't know why it pains my heart that he was talking about me this way now to him. I was disgusting and ugly, but all the time that I helped him and all the years we were married never told me all that.

How times change.

My boss wasn't aware I was Simon's ex wife ,if not he would have informed me about Simon coming and I would hide away till Simon left.

My boss doesn't watch the news regularly and only concentrates on work, so he doesn't even know what is going on in the country or even know about the personal affairs of other people ,so he didn't know that i was CEO Simeon's ex-wife if not he won't have hired me , or he won't let Simon see me here, because from the murderous glare on CEO Simon face, my boss could tell he screwed up.

“Ceo Simon, I wasn't aware of that I am very sorry that you had to meet her here ,she will leave right away." The boss said however Simon raised his hand motioning him to stop.

“There is no need for that, I will be the one taking my leave because I am already in a bad mood and this is not the type of place that I want to spend my money on. As long as this woman has been here I will not spend a dime here!" Simon's voice thundered as he turned to walk away.

I gasped in shock.

Did Simon hate me that much? I just wondered what I ever did to him.

I knew I needed to do something or else my kind hearted boss that hired me even though I had no qualification to work for him would lose a good business day.

I wasn't even aware of this meeting today . If I had seen it in his schedule today, I would have informed him about my relationship with Simon and left work today.

“Simon please stop , me working here has nothing to do with your work with my boss I will leave and even resign today, please just come back." I pleaded with Simon, my ex husband, because I have seen how this will play out and I don't want to jeopardize Jane's work.

I ran out from behind my desk and was running after him.
