Chapter 4: Rejected offer.

Rachel's point of view:

I knew that I was already in big trouble but taking his hand was putting myself in a bigger problem.

I shook my head while staring him dead in the eyes.

“I don't need your help please leave me alone ,I don't even know who you are."I said loudly and shook her head, and he retracted his hand and dipped it into his pocket.

He took out a business card and stretched out his hand to give it to me.

“Take this and call me whenever you change your mind. I am a very patient man." He informed me as I looked at the business card and saw the name Noah and I concluded it must be his name.

It sounded familiar, however I didn't remember where.

However he had the first name of the billionaire who owned the richest pharmaceutical company in the whole country and has hospitals he runs.

I was adamant to take the business card, but with the way i.was looking at this man he would not leave here if I didn't take the business card.

I took the business card with her wet hand and it didn't soak, it must be water-resistant.

“Since you refused to work with me should I leave the umbrella with you or should I take it away?”Noah asked her with a smile still on his face.

“Oh right we are not in any relationship yet , I don't give a shit." Noah said with an unwavering smile plastered on his face as he took a step away from me and walked away and got into his car leaving me in the rain, since I refused his offer.

I could not still understand what happened, but I got up from the floor and just walked to shelter from the rain. Then I made a call to her friend to ask for help.

“Jane, right now I am drenched in rain and I am stranded and I have no way else to go. Can I stay with you?” I asked my friend because she was the only one I could rely on right now.

“Didn't you receive any money or alimony from Simon?”Jane asked and I bit my lower lips in annoyance.

I was so blinded by love that I agreed to sign a prenup.

“There was a prenup." I said dreadfully and Jane said an Oh.

“What about your parents ,why didn't you go with them and ask for help?” Jane asked.

My relationship with my father has never been the same ever since he got married to my stepmom.

“I asked my father for help and he refused to help me so right now I am stranded and I have nowhere else to go.”I cried out in frustration.

“I will send you the address of my apartment building, so when the rain stops coming to my apartment building, I'll be waiting for you,”Jane informed me.

“Thank you very much Jane, I don't know who else I could turn to at this point, you're a very good friend,”I thanked her happily.

“No worries,”Jane said.

I waited until the rain stopped and I took a cab back to my hotel room. I checked out of the hotel room and went to the address that my friend Jane sent to me.

Jane, my friend lives in one bedroom apartments, so Jane made the couch comfortable for me with warm blankets and hot tea when I arrived.

I jumped into her hands and cried when I arrived at her door and she welcomed me with open arms and took my luggage in and I settled into her home.

I did not want to be lazy so even though I hadn't worked for the past 7 years ,I decided to start applying for jobs with the help of my friend Jane who helped her with her job applications, since she has been in the workfield after graduating college.

I got a job that asked her to come for an interview two days later and Jane celebrated my accomplishment with me.

I arrived at the company on the day of the interview and walked into the room where four interviewers were waiting for her and she greeted them, introduced herself.

“You can sit down Mrs Rachel Simon.”The first interviewer said with a big smile.

I noticed they knew who my ex-husband was and even though it hurt to admit that she was now a divorced woman even after spending all her years with that man ,she still had to admit it ,she is now divorced.

“My name is just miss Rachel, I got divorced from my husband about a week ago,” I replied because I didn't want them to get the wrong idea.

The interviewers looked at each other in surprise.

“Even if you got divorced from your husband you must have some connection with him or his company isn't that right?”The second interviewer asked me with an arched eyebrow.

I came here for a job interview so I wonder why they were asking about my ex-husband.

I shifted in my chair nervously and gulped as I avoided eye contact since everyone's attention was now on me.

I shook her head sadly indicating I meant no, even though I helped my ex husband when his company was in the button with all my savings, I had no way to prove it since there was no document signed and it was eight years ago, I have no claim to any share in the company.

“I have no connection with my ex-husband's company nor do I speak to him anymore,”I replied.

“Wait, if you do not have any connection with CEO Simon then why are you here?”The second interviewer asked as a scowl formed on his face.

“You called me for a job interview ,how can you ask me why I am here?”I asked him in confusion .

“We called you for job interview because we thought you had a connection with Ceo Simon, if you have no connection with him what can you do for us, I'm afraid this job isn't meant for you if you have no connection with him anymore,”The interviewer replied and the rest of the interviewers nodded in agreement.

“You must be joking right?”I asked as it began to dawn on me that they called me here in hopes that I had some connection with Simon.

I gripped my handbag tightly in anger.

“No, please leave right now, so we can move onto the next person. Do you think that we need someone with no work experience and it is laughable for you to come here to work after seven years of doing nothing.”The interviewer jeered at her.

I saw that there was no need arguing about this because they were dead serious, so I just stood up with her documents and left and headed back home and continued applying for more jobs.

Jane, my friend , returned back from work and Rachel informed her of what happened.

“You are joking right, do you mean that someone actually asked you to come for a job interview because they thought you had a connection with your ex-husband and that's why they told you to leave?”Jane asked in surprise and I nodded sadly.

“Yes , I don't know what to do at this point.”I said in a tired voice.

“Just let them be their loss, you can always apply for other jobs.” Jane said.

I continued applying for other jobs and got another interview three days later and went there and she received more devastating news.

“I feel bad for you because you are weak and you are targeted by people that are stronger than you, Miss Ivy told us not to hire you and just mess with you and waste your time and she told us to say it was her who did it.” I was told and I wondered why my ex husband's fiancée is messing with me.

“Miss Ivy has your ex-husband backing her so you must know that she's not someone we can refuse her request ,you have quite an impressive degree before you became a housewife and you could do a good job but you have stayed out of the workfield for long, we want to hire you but you cannot take risk because of ceo Simon wrath." One of the interviewers informed her.

I was baffled by what I heard.

What exactly have I done wrong to these people to deserve all this? First my ex-husband cheated on me and divorced me,now his new woman doesn't want her to succeed in anything.

“Thank you for telling me the truth, I'll be taking my leave then." I replied as I got up and left the room.

I got home and sat on the couch in the brick of tears.

Jane came back from work and reassured me that all was fine.

For two more weeks I was looking for a job and I didn't find one and that was when Jane brought up a conversation with me.

“I have a job offer for you, are you interested?"Jane asked.
