Chapter 6: A double loss.

Rachel's point of view:

Simon turned to me with a glare.

“Rachel, what makes you think you have a right to make a request for me and the next time you call out to my name ,I will give you a dirty slap that you deserve ,idiot!" Simon yelled at me and I flinched and stopped walking and began walking away.

“Ceo Simon, please, I'm begging you to reconsider. I did not know that this woman was your ex-wife. If I knew I would have not bought her here, I'm begging you please sir just forgive me." My boss pleaded with Simon as he continued walking to the exit and I ran after him pleading for him to come back, but his bodyguards stopped me and my boss.

Simon got out of the company building into his car and drove away and I was left to face the wrath of my boss who turned to me and raised his hand to hit me across the face but Jane held his hand stopping him.

Some employees were already coming out from their work post watching the scene.

“Sir what happened why would you want to slap her?" Jane asked and her boss slapped Jane's hand away and his anger turned to Jane.

“If I had known that helping your friend would lead to my downfall I would have fired both of you the day that you brought up the topic of me hiring your friend, why did you not tell me that she is CEO Simon's ex-wife?” The boss asked Jane and Jane turned to me and I averted my eyes.

“Jane, have you seen what you have caused me? Ceo Simon came here to scout out this company and see if he will invest in our company and he told me that he will invest and after seeing this woman here he has said that he will not invest again ,because his ex-wife is here." The boss explained to Jane.

The company I work for is small so somebody like Simon, my ex husband, coming here to invest in the company was a big deal.

“What did I do to both of you that you have ruined my livelihood.”The boss yelled at Jane and I.

The boss loosened his tie as I noticed he had begun to sweat from the yelling and begging.

He took a bottle of prescribed pills ,took one out and tossed it in his mouth.

Jane was surprised by what she heard and looking at the way that I was looking at the floor she could tell it was correct.

“Since both of you have caused me this deal, both of you are fired as of now, so get out of my company."The boss announced.

Jane and I gasped as I looked up instantly and stook my head frantically.

I haven't even walked in this company for up to a month so I won't feel that upset if I get fired but Jane has worked in this company for many years. If he fires her I don't know how she will feel and I don't know how to face her.

I could see the look of horror that slowly formed on Jane's face.

“Sir, you can't do this to me. I have worked for you for 10 years in this company ,how can you just fire me because of something that I'm not involved in?”Jane asked the boss and he scoffed at her.

He couldn't believe that Jane was asking this question right now.

“You are the one that brought her into this company .If not for you I would have gotten this deal and the company would have improved more ,why would you do something like this to me ,why would you do something like this to the company if you loved this company?” The boss asked as I could see a coin pop up by the side of his head and his eyes were round in anger.

“I was only trying to help my friend , I did not know her ex-husband would come here.If I knew, I would have told you please forgive me and don't fire me from this job. This is the only source of livelihood I have had for like 10 years. Where will I start from here?" Jane pleaded.

“Please sir i am begging you please don't fire Jane, it doesn't matter if you fire me but please leave Jane out of this this is just my fault." I pleaded with the boss.

Our boss might be a kind-hearted man but he also wanted to improve in his business and he knows that emotions and sympathy was not something that one should always use when doing business.

“Rachel! Can you make him come back to the company and invest in it, if you can I will give Jane her job back. If not then both of you get out, security guards come and toss them out!"The boss yelled for the security guards to come because he was getting tired of this.

Jane and I begged Jane be left in the company since she has worked here for more than ten years but it didn't touch the heart of the boss, it was as if he was waiting for an opportunity to fire her.

“Can you believe it, Jane was just fired because she helped her friend , her friend must have a lot of bad luck and is rubbing it on Jane." One of the workers said as the security guards came to escort Jane and I out of the company building and Jane was in tears now.

I felt so sad seeing it this way because all she wanted to do was help me ,but I cannot believe that it turned out this way.

“Oh that's so sad,"An Employee said.

Jane and I were kicked out of the company building and they went home.

I could not bare seeing Jane cry on the ride home, so when we got home, i tried calling my ex husband Simon for help but he blocked my number and when I called Simon with Jane's cell phone he answered, heard my voice ,and before I could utter a word, he ended the call and blocked Jane's phone number.

I exhaled sharply and kept the phone beside me on the couch ,

I was sitting as Jane was crying her eyes out that her career had been ruined.

“What wrong did I do to deserve all this? I just wanted to help my friend and this has made me lose my job and my career?”Jane cried out.

“I am really sorry Jane I hope and I wish that I can do something to help you but I called Simeon and he ended my call and has blocked my number. I am very sorry I didn't know that he would react this way when he saw me,”I pleaded with her.

Jane looked at me with red-hot eyes.

“Do you know that I've worked in that company for 10 years and I was looking forward to a promotion which was going to come very soon and now you have ruined all that,”Jane sneered at me as she directed her anger towards me.

“I'm very sorry this is not my fault,”I told her.

“Really?”she asked in a high voice.

It seems like my words got her more annoyed and I wondered if I should just leave the living room so she can rest.

“You know what, yes it is not your fault that I got fired ,it is my fault for helping you when you were in need so I don't need to continue doing that because I don't have any sorts of income so you know what you're going to do is to pack up your stuff and get out of my house now!” Jane yelled at me as she got off the couch and pointed to the door.

“What?" I asked in surprise because she has nowhere else to go.

I should have just closed my mouth.

“Didn't you hear what I said,I said pack up your stuff and get out of my house before I stop acting nice!" Jane yelled in anger and I flinched in shock because I had never heard Jane yell this way.

Jane is nice and friendly and the lady with red eyes who was glaring at me and pointing at the door wasn't the Jane I know.

It was as if making a wrong move will make her pounce on me and I didn't want to know how it feels to get into a fight with an angry Jane, she wrestles as an exercise.
