Chapter 29

Ember stood there waiting for Axle to give her the answer that she wanted to hear,but he just looked down on the ground. He wanted to tell her the truth but it felt like the words were stuck in his throat. His heart was pounding so hard that it felt like it was going to come out of his chest. He took a deep breath and he looked up.at the ceiling. "What do you want me to tell you? I told you why last night. Didn't I?"He asked.

"Then that's not a good enough reason to convince me to stay."She said, wiping her tears.

"I don't have any other reason."He said.

"Then why are you avoiding eye contact with me?"She asked.

"It's just that I…"He couldn't finish his sentence because he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest. He put his hand over his chest and he knelt down on the floor. "Dammit!"He said, breathing heavily.

"What's wrong?"Ember asked, kneeling down in front of him. She put her hands on his cheeks.

"J-just call for help."He said. The pain seemed to be getting worse by the second.
